My neighbors just put theirs next to the dumpster, move out of their apartment, and then expect the garbage men to deal with it. Thank you for doing this properly.
The dump in Marina will take up to 5 mattress and boxsprings for free. I know you said you wanted to avoid getting a truck but imo, your best bet is renting a truck for a day from Home Depot...last time I rented a truck it was ~$48 since I had the truck for about 3 hours.

If you are looking to dispose of a mattress due to buying a new one, note that the retailer (even if online purchase) is required to pick up the old mattress. https://mattressrecyclingcouncil.org/retailer-take-back/
If you don't want to rent a truck, there are dozens of local hauling companies who will carry what ever trash you want to the landfill.
I suspect it would cost you slightly more than renting the truck.
Greenwaste does PG's trash service. Shamelessly stolen from a informational PDF...

I don't know about PG but in Marina you get a few free bulky item pickups per year. I had a big worn out rug and they instructed me to just roll it up and put it by the trash cans on garbage day.
If it's in decent shape and doesn't have stains you can usually put it on Craigslist or nextdoor for free and someone will come get it
Private parties can drop 1 or 2 mattresses and box springs for free at the marina landfill.

Yeah, I don’t want to be that guy.
You can call the Garbage Company and ask if they can schedule a large item pickup.

If it’s in decent enough shape, you might see if Mack and the boys at the Palace Flophouse might take it.
