88mph, then some serious shit happened.

Chilton_Squid

I'd shit myself doing 88mph on a 125 as well, nothing to be ashamed of

crypto-killer-1

That’s impressive, what happened then?

bladefiddler

He fell out of a tree and his mam tried to shag him.

Emotional-Elk-8356

🤣

Chilton_Squid

He went back

Docxx214

I managed 80mph (indicated) on my MT-125, it was downhill and the road conditions were perfect, I also pretty much had to do the plank on my bike. Imagine taking one on the motorway...

crypto-killer-1

😂😂 will be the slowest vehicle on motorway

iamshipwreck

Nah there's always people shitting themselves doing 45 in the middle lane

slightlyghosty

Delivered a YBR125 to a pal in 2011 down the motorway, Cheltenham to Brighton. Down a hill behind a massive truck in the slow lane getting some draft the bike actually managed to overtake the truck. Never again. Poor thing was redlining for hours. A roads only after that. Speedo downhill with the clutch in saw an indicated 75 but an almighty wobble when the clutch engaged

Chilton_Squid

Speedo aside, single-cylinder 4-stroke 125s will struggle to go above 60 and anyone who says otherwise is sadly mistaken.

wolf_in_sheeps_wool

I think when I had my CBF125, 62mph was what I got on an average day, 70 when the winds blessed my journey and 50 when they cursed it. I do not miss the struggle. Sounded terrible when going too fast too

losthiggeldyfiggeldy

You are sadly mistaken sir, my old MT-125 comfortably sustained 70 mph GPS (78-80 indicated).

Emotional-Elk-8356

I agree. Years ago, a mate of mine achieved 70ish going down a massive hill on his single cylinder cub 90cc. I was on a hyosung gt125 doing 90. Engine was fuckin screaming🤣 my bike wasn't a single cylinder but still.

snapshot-sights

Same on my previous KTM RC125

BazAlvan

68mph on my lexmoto michigan. Verified by GPS Would only do 60 until I changed the front sprocket. Everything else is standard

Competitive_Mouse_37

How did you find it performs after the front sprocket change? Just got to 1000 miles on mine and super tired with lack of top end

crypto-killer-1

It’s soo disappointing, when you are doing 100% speed and some old car is overtaking you in dual carriageway cause you are too slow.

spaded131

It's a small bike 🤷🏽‍♂️

FranzFerdinand51

How much more half a can of redbulls worth of cylinder space can do for you?!

Ok-Caregiver9383

Get a full licence then

AshleyPomeroy

I've always wondered what it was like back in 1982, 1983, when the 125cc limit was brought in. Were 125cc bikes more competitive with cars back then? The VW Golf GTi Mk2 had a 0-60mph time of around 10 seconds, which isn't very fast by modern standards, and that was at the top of end of what ordinary people could afford. But perhaps the bikes were just as slow. I dunno.

Spankies69

My cbr125 sits at 60 (GPS), and I have gotten just over 80 down a very very very steep hill (GPS). On a flat with a good tuck I got just over 70 (GPS) Good ol' fashioned carbed 125s are great. And mine has a slipping clutch. I love this bike, it's a fantastic commuter because it will make me smile going barely anywhere with a fully open throttle.

E-Step

My WR125X said 74mph once when going down quite a long downhill straight. Most of the time it didn't really get above 60

Inevitable_Spell5775

74 indicated was the best I could ever get.

tomgrouch

67 from a 2006 Honda CG125. Long straight downhill with a tail wind I even thought I might get a speeding ticket from the camera at the bottom. I was almost looking forward to it, as proof the old girl could go fast

tedwardslm

Speedo said 96, in what was a literally hurricane speed winds...down a hill...otherwise that bike would do about 80

crypto-killer-1

Wow, is that Aprilia RS125?

tedwardslm

2016 Cbr125r. But bare in mind all the factors at play that weren't the bike...and the fact that the 96 is likely horseshit anyway

BuildingArmor

The 2 stroke helps it feel like a bigger bike than it is

bladefiddler

Maxed 73 indicated on a long downhill straight on my '22 cb125f. (Probs a tailwind going on as well) Funnily enough it maxed 37 on the way back up lol

Geofferz

I got the same out of my mt125! That's as fast as they come I believe.

crypto-killer-1

🥲 need to get full license I guess

Geofferz

Yep! Then get yourself a litre sports bike - mine does 100mph in 1st gear.

Small_Return6230

83 gps on my cbr ,full tuck and cheeks clenched bombing it down a hill hahaha

crypto-killer-1

Ahhaha I can image the fun

Georgeasaurusrex

75 GPS speed. Downhill on the non-motorway-but-basically-motorway A23

WeaponsGradeWeasel

Z50 with Lifan 125, I've hit gps 60mph on flat road.

DunnyLad

If you get to 90 you go back in time.

crypto-killer-1

😂😂

themessiahcomplex78

Mine happliy sits at 60 but screams at 67. Maybe 68 down a hill.

Vehlin

My old TZR125 would indicate 100. I miss the old strokers

Practical-Valuable29

Me too. Close to that on my old NSR125 chasing my mate on his TZR back in the day. And the smell of 2-strokes…. 🤌🏻

Vehlin

My BIL races a TZ250 in the GP250 series. They're cool bikes.

Blurny

Cb125f + 16.4 stone = 55 - 60 mph. Can touch 70 mph on a down slope with a generously directed breeze but it’s red lining it.

Kaos_Monkey

Same here. My CB125F can do 58-60, unless there's a hill.

madeups10

85 on GPS (Speedo past the word Jincheng and nearly back to zero) Chinese z50 copy still on 8" wheels with a Zongshen 125 HO motor. Tucked in behind a random van for a slip stream, buffeting/turbulence wasn't great. I wouldn't recommend it, not sure what I was thinking.

JCurtisUK

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

crypto-killer-1

😂😂

barbarossa1984

My YBR 125 can just barely hit 60 mph on level ground.

jaredearle

You’re looking at around 70mph, depending on the bike. As that’s the speed limit, that’s ok, but it’s a tough journey to get there. If you’re looking at going faster, you need to get your test out of the way.

Due-Measurement1386

Fully tucked, using several slightly faster bikes slipstream on a lightly fettled race bike we were clocked at a fraction over 80 at Mallory.

SerpensPorcus

I think 67 on the speedo going downhill tucked behind a car lol

BazAlvan

I increased by two on the front. Acceleration is still very acceptable. Increased top speed was noticeable right from the start. I've noted proper chain tension and correctly inflated tyres also play a part. Good luck

sim-o

When I was young and dafter, I got the needle on my MkII Yamaha RD125 LC a touch past 90. It didn't have fancy pipes or race this, race that. It was just properly derestricted. I was gutted beyond belief when that bike got stolen

Difficult-Broccoli65

Somewhere north of 95 on my 2001 Aprilia RS125

dontjudgeme124

150kmh (93mph) on my gsxr125. Was downhill and only happened once, other than that I was able to get 88mph with 2 people even at a slight incline

sjuas690

Try putting a mixture of nitromethane and hight test hydrogen peroxide in the tank. Let us know how it goes!

[deleted]

I hit 110 on my aprilia rs125 back in the day (or so my Speedo said)

Non-Combatant

I got 73mph on my grom in ideal conditions going downhill. I'm sure it was more like 68 irl. Makes me laugh seeing people on owners groups with stock groms saying they do 70+mph all the time with no issue.

zerogravitas365

The other half's first bike was a 90s Aprilia RS125. She got properly attached to it and it even went on a dyno, 27rwhp. It was seriously rapid by 125 standards, GPS wasn't really a thing back then but it would fairly easily do an indicated ton and it was comically fast by comparison to any four stroke effort I've ever ridden. Not exactly easy to use, ridiculously aggressive geometry and you had to absolutely wring its neck to get it to move but if you kept the revs up then that thing could boogie.

Da-Bears-

120 kph, but it took a while.

treetrunksdontbark

83 mph 2012 KTM 125 duke

blcollier

Under its own power, my ‘14 plate CBF125 got to about 67mph (indicated) at the absolute _max_. Took a while to get there from 50-55mph. I think I got above 70 going downhill.

RepublicOfSamsung

74 allegedly. Downhill on a nice straight and tucked as much as possible. Cb125F

Spankies69

The other day actually I beat my record of 85 on my cbr125, I found a particularly steep hill and got to 92 Speedo....GPS was 84. My VFR400 can do that with a slight cough though 😂, which is funny because when I ride my 125 I'm more of a hooligan on country roads than when I ride the VFR which turns me into an 85 year old man on the way to the local farmers market 5 towns and 3 counties away.

theeharibo

96mph on aprilia rs125 (2 stroke) before paranoia about seizing the engine got the better of me

crypto-killer-1

I guess Aprilia rs125 is the fastest 125cc bike out there.

nzdevon

No. I had a two stroke RD125 that was fast, but I also had brought a brand new brand, two stroke TZR 125 back in 1988 that could do 120mph, full tuck. That machine was insane and I have many happy memories about that bike.

KeenJelly

86 indicated which was about 78-80 GPS on my A1 class electric motorbike. When you accelerated hard up to top speed it would sometimes say 90 on the dash, but I think it was a glitch.

stufferstu

In 1998, I got 105 mph on my Cagiva Mito whilst travelling past Sale on the M60. I'd just had it destricted at the shop in Hyde. That bike was the dog's bollocks in looks and performance.

mrgg5705

I had 110mph indicated on an unrestricted 2 stroke rs125, on my way to trade it in lol

[deleted]

I can back this claim up, I've also done this!

BlackAndGold56

Indicated 75-ish on a CBR125R, basically slip-streaming a lorry. First and last time I took it on the motorway between passing my test and getting a bigger bike. Never again, 125s are just too slow to safely deal with motorway traffic.
