Upvote for The General. Buster Keaton is a fucking genius, it's a real shame that 90% of the population will write him off because they're all silent films.
Came here to post this! Primer at 77 minutes and a $7,000 budget proves that you don't need big name movie actors, costumes, special effects and a $50 million budget to make a good movie... In fact, many times those things will take you out of your suspension of disbelief. Take Interstellar... Great film, and great fun when spoiler alert shows up in the middle of the movie, but in the back of your mind, you know all of these people are famous actors and therefore that none of this is real. Primer feels like it could be real. The technical dialogue and the non-technical dialogue both sound extremely authentic. The science fiction is incredible but grounded. It is the most realistic movie about time travel that you will ever see... A warning though, you may have to watch it two or three or four times to fully understand it, but I consider that a plus and not a minus.
I don't think this is a great movie if you are not a big Sci-fi or time travel fan.
The story is convoluted, acting below average, and frankly most people wouldn't even understand half the stuff happening without reading explanations (myself included while being kinda educated) which isn't great for a movie in my opinion.

You might need a primer for Primer to understand it
I came across a review for Primer that said "I don't want to be spoon-fed, but at least unlock the kitchen for me!"
I don't think this is a great movie if you are not a big Sci-fi or time travel fan. The story is convoluted, acting below average, and frankly most people wouldn't even understand half the stuff happening without reading explanations (myself included while being kinda educated) which isn't great for a movie in my opinion.
Primer is one of those movies that makes you feel dumb for not understanding, but really it just sucks at telling the story it wants to tell.
