Pineapple express - this would be the objectively best stoner movie imo
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
Grandma's boy
Up in Smoke
How High
Maybe not stoner movies per se but fun to watch while high: Eurotrip, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Idiocracy, Superbad
So I just rewatched Pineapple Express (it's on Netflix right now) with my father in law, and I forgot how much actual action is in the movie. It's really violent for a comedy film. Most of the characters die by the end of it. Such a great movie. James Franco and Seth Rogen are a super comedy duo. They should do more movies together (The End).
I remember watching Tucker and Dale Vs Evil by accident, something happened on my Kodi box and it was supposed to be the Terminator, but I was high at the time and I couldn't stop laughing, so I watched it to the end, haven't seen it sober so can't comment on if it's actually a good movie but when I was high absolutely hilarious
Your Highness.
It’s James Franco and Danny McBride again. There’s not that much actual weed smoking, but I think it qualifies.
Fair warning though, everyone hates it. It might actually be an awful movie, but I enjoy it.
I hate triangle face! It scares me.
Glad to hear I’m not the lone human who thought this movie was funny. Even Franco and McBride badmouth it in This is the End.
I remember watching Up in Smoke with my dad as a teenager who smoked a fair amount of pot. I tried to act innocent and say things like “Dad, why are those guys so hungry?” Lol he must have known though.
I always see people trash Half Baked, like Chappelle and the other writer guy seem to disown it like it was a disaster. It's so funny, it's a perfect movie.
It strikes me as bizarre that while the director Tamra Davis is making Half Baked, her husband Mike D is preparing to make Hello, Nasty. Two sides of the same coin for my money. But maybe that's because I was the right age to appreciate such arts.
I wonder if that sequel to Half Baked will be any good.
I watched this on acid as a teenager back when it came out, does it hold up well? I recently realized Gregg Araki directed it which has really piqued my interest to watch it again since it’s not in his usual wheelhouse.
I think it really does hold up. I actually read [this article](https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/smiley-face-best-movie-about-getting-high/) about it not long ago.
Some of my favorites to enjoy stoned:
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Dazed and Confused
Idiocracy
Shaun of the dead
The World's End
The Big Lebowski
The Interview
This is the End
Waiting
Dogma
The Big Lebowski.
The thing is, most other stoner films don't capture that...*feeling* of being high, Dazed and Confused does it pretty well, and there's prolly some others I'm forgetting too...Adventureland and Friday off the top of my head.
But the Big Lebowski just gets the...surrealism right. Like without spoiling too much, someone once told me it's a movie about nothing. So much happens in the movie, and so much of it is non sequitor or farcical...and yet so much of it is so just *real*.
Like I grew up in LA , so I'm biased, but like so many times during the movie I was just like "yea that seems like someone you'd encounter in LA." So even though every scene is definitely dramatized in the way a comedy movie is, it still feels like something that would happen in real life, something or someone that you'd probably see if you were an stoner in the middle of LA.
And for that specific reason, it *feels like you're high* throughout the entire film, even when you're sober watching it back for the 3rd or 5th time. I mean, I think most of that can be attributed to the written script and dialogue, it truly is one of the masterpieces of the Coen Brothers in terms of written dialogue alone, but it's just so...oddly surreal in a movie that isn't really that divorced from reality in any serious way, that it *captures* that state that smoking weed puts you in.
I like a shaggy dog story
Loved Beau Is Afraid too for its meandering story telling.
That would actually get a great anti stoner movie from the perspective of getting mega fucked up and paranoid / anxious. Also Beau does actually smoke in the movie, so it definitely counts.
It doesnt have pacing issues, it's intentional, the experience of watching this movies is meant to feel like an experience of being high as fuck, it's like you are supposed to have gaps and trouble following the plot, but when the plot actually begins to unravel and you look at this movie from unbiased prespective it actually delivers a really damn solid detective story
While its not about drug use I certainly enjoyed "Hundreds of Beavers" while high (a week later while sober with the kids was great too).
If you like to watch cartoons, especially warner brother slapstick cartoons (bugs bunny, animaniacs etc.) you'd enjoy "Hundreds of Beavers"
Stoner Movies
Enjoyable for those who indulge, whether they're currently in "the mood" or not. See also [Psychedelic Visuals](https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieSuggestions/wiki/faq#wiki_psychedelic_visuals).

Jay & Silent Bob is an absolute riot. And there are a ton of great cameos. And even though Will Farrell doesn't star in it, it's my favorite comic performance of his.
I don't smoke weed at all, despite having watched Half-Baked, Up in Smoke, Harold & Kumar, etc. But nothing has made me want to smoke weed more than How High.
- Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
- Friday
- Next Friday
- Super Troopers
- Dazed and Confused
- Fast Times
- Scary Movie
- The Big Lebowski
- Your Highness
- Strange Wilderness
- The Beach
- Smiley Face
- The Cabin in the Woods

- Step Brothers
Refer Madness is a classic. Not intended as humor and was an anti marijuana propaganda film made in the 30’s but is comedy gold.
And of course the classic Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
What do you folks think about Evil Bong? Maybe I wasn't high enough, but I didn't laugh at all. I did try Evil Bong 2, which was better, but not funny enough for me to watch any of the other sequels, of which there are many.
For good stoner comedies, in addition to other great suggestions, 21 Jump Street, Amazon Women on the Moon, Sausage Party, Happytime Murders.
See if you can find a copy of Baked Potatoes: a Pop Smoker's Guide to Film and Video. Lots of great ideas in there.
I've always liked True Stories (1986) but while it's funny In parts, it's not exactly a laugh-out-loud rip-roaring comedy.
Gotta go with Pineapple Express because of Saul just wanting to be friend with the cool people and the cool people are like fuck off saul but then be all like oh fuck Saul’s cooler then us and I love him.
Keanu, stuber, lovebirds, the wrong missy, bottoms, Ricky stinkicky, barb and star, due date, that’s my boy, role models, macgruber, the inbetweeners movies, me time,
Paul.
Not usually considered a stoner movie as it doesn’t revolve around weed, but it’s a classic stoner movie.
Seth Rogen is voicing an alien. Doesn’t get more stoner than that.
Land of the Lost with Will Ferrell and Danny McBride. I watched it sober the first time and thought it was stupid but then I watched it high and it just got funnier and funnier.
Rolling Kansas is a fun one I don’t see many people mention. Hard to find though, even the streaming version I watched seemed cut from the TV version as it was 4:3.
Land of the Lost. Not technically a stoner movie but there is a scene where they get stoned eating some fruit. A good movie to watch when you are stoned.
Dazed and Confused The Stoned Age
Dazed and confused is a masterpiece.
Wooderson: Say, man, you got a joint? Mitch: No, not on me, man. Wooderson: It'd be a lot cooler if you diid.
Dazed and Confused is a classic HOOTIE HOO 😂
Super troopers is always a good time!
Littering and....
Smoking the reefer. To teach you a lesson Officer Rabbit and I are gonna watch you smoke the whole bag.
I'm freaking out maaann!!
You are freaking out....MaN
These snozzberries taste like snozzberries!
Do you boys like Mex Eee Co?!
Canada huh? Almost made it.
He can't pull over any farther!
Meow
'You boys like Mexico?'
*"Reefer."*
Grandma's Boy
You can get past a dog but nobody fucks with a lion
Sorry I missed it in your post. Honorable mention for Orange County and Pick of Destiny. I love Jack Black movies when I am blazed!
Friday
It's Friday Craig, you ain't got no job and you ain't got shit to do.
I know you dont smoke weed, I know this, but I'm gonna get you high today.
Every time I come in the kitchen, you in the kitchen
In the got damn refrigerator!
Pineapple express - this would be the objectively best stoner movie imo Harold and Kumar go to White Castle Grandma's boy Up in Smoke How High Maybe not stoner movies per se but fun to watch while high: Eurotrip, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Idiocracy, Superbad
Great duo, I have to add that Danny McBride is hilarious though, let's make it a comedic trio.
Up here trying to get a mutha fucking scholarship
Out here trying to get a mutha fucking scholarship
Yes, I love Danny McBride. Eastbound and Down is hilarious.
Yeah definitively This Is The End fits here as well
Haha, I fucked up the name of the movie. It's called "This Is The End"
I wouldn't watch it any other way
Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay is also pretty funny.
Grandma’s Boy is so hilarious
Adding to the non-stoner list Young Frankenstein and Shaun of The Dean, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
With some dumb and dumber
Every movie is more enjoyable with weed.
Hell yeah man
Your Highness. It’s James Franco and Danny McBride again. There’s not that much actual weed smoking, but I think it qualifies. Fair warning though, everyone hates it. It might actually be an awful movie, but I enjoy it.
Oh man. That movie was brilliant. Also it was a play on words for the title "Your Highness".
Triangle face......this movie should be bad, and it is, but it's also hilarious
I hate triangle face! It scares me. Glad to hear I’m not the lone human who thought this movie was funny. Even Franco and McBride badmouth it in This is the End.
There's dozens of us
[удалено]
Have seen half baked but those i havnt will add them to my watchlist thank you
I was about to recommend *Idle Hands*- it doesn't make a whole lot of sense but damn is it funny
Yep Idle Hands was my first thought
Up in smoke, that’s where my money goes. In my lungs, and sometimes up my noseeee.
🎶 When troubled times Begin to bother me I take a toke And all my cares Go up in smoke 🎶
Idle Hands 100%
I remember watching Up in Smoke with my dad as a teenager who smoked a fair amount of pot. I tried to act innocent and say things like “Dad, why are those guys so hungry?” Lol he must have known though.
Idle hands is criminally underrated
I always see people trash Half Baked, like Chappelle and the other writer guy seem to disown it like it was a disaster. It's so funny, it's a perfect movie. It strikes me as bizarre that while the director Tamra Davis is making Half Baked, her husband Mike D is preparing to make Hello, Nasty. Two sides of the same coin for my money. But maybe that's because I was the right age to appreciate such arts. I wonder if that sequel to Half Baked will be any good.
How high, grandma's boy are my favorites.
Where do you get your weed? From you dante!
Oh... THAT'S RIGHT! What's up, Mr. Cheezle! I'm so sad that we won't ever get to see a stoned Betty White again.
Napoleon Dynamite Best In Show.
Best In Show is brilliant!
"No that's a bear in a bee costume"
YOU GO BACK TO THE HOTEL AND YOU FIND BUSY BEE!
I could spend an entire evening just quoting lines from that film.
Same. I've never been able to settle on a favorite character. Everyone is amazing!
Smiley Face
Will definitely watch it
You will not be disappointed!
This movie was so good! Way better than I expected it to be for sure!!
He's a skull fucker
I watched this on acid as a teenager back when it came out, does it hold up well? I recently realized Gregg Araki directed it which has really piqued my interest to watch it again since it’s not in his usual wheelhouse.
I think it really does hold up. I actually read [this article](https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/smiley-face-best-movie-about-getting-high/) about it not long ago.
Hidden gem, so good
Try to match her levels of intoxication throughout the movie. If you experience everything the same way she does, it is even funnier.
Big Lebowski Homegrown Half Baked And I’ll edit and add the one I first thought of and then forgot lol Oh yeah! PCU is what I forgot. Hilarious movie
Can you blow me where the Pampers is?
One I seem to play when stoned: Raising Arizona
Definitely counts because there is a character named Hi
Big Lebowski
Pineapple express... Harold and kumar.. cheech and chong
American Ultra
Idk If it's been said yet...super bad made me laugh uncontrollably high
Yes yes its a top recommendation i will be watching it after i roll a blunt rn
Clerks Clerks 2 Dogma Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Clerks 2 is soooo funny. My wife and I joke about PillowPants a bunch. I love that joke.
Hot Rod
Some of my favorites to enjoy stoned: Fast Times at Ridgemont High Dazed and Confused Idiocracy Shaun of the dead The World's End The Big Lebowski The Interview This is the End Waiting Dogma
Cool man
The Big Lebowski. Smiley Face Inherent Vice The Long Goodbye
Ooo Inherent Vice is a great mention. Has some pacing issues but otherwise a great stoner comedy and fantastic film overall.
I like a shaggy dog story Loved Beau Is Afraid too for its meandering story telling.
How high
Get em
Nobody says that nah-nudda like you say that nah-nudda!
Puff, Puff, Pass
While its not about drug use I certainly enjoyed "Hundreds of Beavers" while high (a week later while sober with the kids was great too). If you like to watch cartoons, especially warner brother slapstick cartoons (bugs bunny, animaniacs etc.) you'd enjoy "Hundreds of Beavers"

Up In Smoke is the best stoner comedy of all time

EuroTrip, Not another teen movie, Road Trip, Human Traffic, can't Hardly wait, Detroit Rock City, Waiting...
Time to leave this sub lmao I've been on here for a month and this is literally half of the posts
I guess everyone’s smoking nowadays
Not a weed plot but I think Division III footballs finest might be good. My family of stones love it i do to. My favorite Andy dick role.
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
Pineapple Express is quintessential stoner comedy
Idle Hands (in my opinion the best Halloween movie).
The Big Lebowski
Dazed and confused Withnail and I
Grandma's Boy
Friday & Half Baked
Borat I was high when I watched it for the very first time and lemme tell you, it was epic
Friday
Saving Grace.
It's telling that this is posted literally every-other day.
This is the end. That movie is the best when you are stoned!
See if you can find a copy of Baked Potatoes: a Pop Smoker's Guide to Film and Video. Lots of great ideas in there. I've always liked True Stories (1986) but while it's funny In parts, it's not exactly a laugh-out-loud rip-roaring comedy.
Grandma’s Boy
Pineapple Express is my go to
Super Troopers Without a Paddle Out Cold
Smiley Face is excellent , Anna Farris makes a hilarious stoner.
Gotta go with Pineapple Express because of Saul just wanting to be friend with the cool people and the cool people are like fuck off saul but then be all like oh fuck Saul’s cooler then us and I love him.
Reefer Madness is an accidental comedic masterpiece, and a great watch when your stoned.
Grandma’s boy and The Big Lebowski are my favorite movies to watch high as shit Half Baked is also good
Out Cold Basketball Eagle vs Shark
Keanu, stuber, lovebirds, the wrong missy, bottoms, Ricky stinkicky, barb and star, due date, that’s my boy, role models, macgruber, the inbetweeners movies, me time,
Inherent Vice
One that I enjoyed thoroughly while stoned was that’s my boy

Dazed and Confused
Paul. Not usually considered a stoner movie as it doesn’t revolve around weed, but it’s a classic stoner movie. Seth Rogen is voicing an alien. Doesn’t get more stoner than that.
PCU is pretty good stoned.
Cheech and Chong things are tough all over
the stoned age
The Groove Tube
Pineapple Express Dazed and Confused Cheech and Chong Up in Smoke Half Baked How High Those are my favorites in order

Twin Town
Fanboys
Any of the movies in the Cornetto Trilogy
Fast Times
Dude, Where’s My Car
Idle hands, Dazed and Confused, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
Idle Hands
Land of the Lost with Will Ferrell and Danny McBride. I watched it sober the first time and thought it was stupid but then I watched it high and it just got funnier and funnier.
Knocked Up
Let's Be Cops
This is the End
Rolling Kansas is a fun one I don’t see many people mention. Hard to find though, even the streaming version I watched seemed cut from the TV version as it was 4:3.
Pineapple Express
Land of the Lost. Not technically a stoner movie but there is a scene where they get stoned eating some fruit. A good movie to watch when you are stoned.
