The best feeling is winning against someone that then pulls out a level 20 main and then you stomp them also. It was my first 2 matches with Tom and Jerry last night. Dominated the first round. Next round level 20 fin comes out and look out he's a spinner. I gimped him off stage 2x
I got pretty good at dunks and gimping off stage so there's that. I wish we had throws but it works without em. I have everone at level 10+ except LeBron bugs and t and j so I've been leveling those 3 guys. Bugs seems a bit too powerful but I'm ass with him however his hammer is awesome for spiking at low percents.
My favorite mean trick is to kick their ass as my main, then play the character that they were playing and beat them again.

Reminds me of the match I had last night where I was trying Velma was at level 4 my teammate around the same level against Velma Jake BS. We got in and beat them, they rematched and pulled out level 20 Finn and shaggy which we also beat. Felt pretty good.
my LeBron is now higher than my Wonder woman but honestly he's still my experimental character. WW was quick to learn and i didn't like how repetitive playing her felt. LeBron has so much untapped potential i can feel it
It's not but I think the main problem is going finn specifically. It's very common for people to bust out finn in game 2 because of how good he is and when your already fighting finn 90% of the time anyway it gets really annoying.
If you're playing a character that really only has melee attacks, Finn has a massive advantage because he always gets priority with his sword. It's an extension of his hitbox that can reach out and hit you before you land your attack, yet is not part of his hurtbox.
Do people really find Finn to be the best character right now or is people just tired of playing against him? As a Harley main I think he is one of my best match up, pretty easy to juggle and stick the bomb on. Much easier than Supes (that is so heavy and have armor) and Tom & Jerry (which is much harder to zone with all their projectiles).
Well finn just has advantages that nobody else really does and it's very difficult for people to deal with. His hitboxes are way bigger than his animations leading to people getting hit by things they can't see or react to. His mobility is really good as well especially with his down b buff and his up b bag spin kills super early, lingers and also has a huge hitbox. He's also the only character in the game that can run while holding his strong attacks. Lots of characters have wonky hitboxes in this game but finn is easily the worst.
I’m also a Harley main and ngl Harley is pretty good against finn. I’m also pretty good at the game (top 5k Harley usually) I actually enjoy when people go finn because it’s a easy W so I agree with you
He is fairly easy to pick up and was in the free rotation so everyone and their mom were playing him. But he isn't too hard to deal with if you know the matchup at all.
It’s the fact that Finn’s attacks aren’t part of his hurtbox, but have an absurd range regardless. Also, a lot of his attack are insanely easy to chain and deal a ridiculous amount of damage. Then a fair amount of his attacks also linger for longer than they appear making it so you underestimate when you would be attacking him causing him to either continue or start a new combo on you.
And spam down attacks like everyone else lmfao. They amount of spamming in This game just shows how retarded and brainless this generation of gamers are aka gen Zs.
They're going to need to be very careful with nerfing him. His size alone easily means that one small mistake can lead to him going from broken to unviable.
Why do people even want IG nerfed?? Hes fucking combo food and albeit he plays his role extremely well I don't understand the reason to nerf him mf's really want every character they get beat with nerfed. Relax
People call for nerfs and buffs based on personal experience opposed to general consensus. Hence the fact that every character needs buffed and nerfed, yet we don’t even have properly working hitboxes, and we scream buff nerf, which we should wait to do until each character has the hitboxes they were intended to have. Otherwise you’re nerfing and balancing characters only to have to do it again when you fix the hitboxes issue.
That is if you’re doing singles. Doubles is way harder because once you get a combo started, their teammate is gonna see you and immediately ruin your dreams by hitting you and ending the combo and once Iron Giant gets a chance to breathe, then you’re kinda done for because he’s got hitboxes big enough to hit both you and your teammate and at that point, it’s kinda hard to stop him. Of course, I just hope my point isn’t invalidated because my character has Jerry as a projectile but once he’s dead, the cool down takes a while and sometimes, Jerry can die while being thrown at the enemy.
I don't personally think he needs a nerf. I play him better than any other character but I also don't typically lose to him either. The only argument I could make for nerfing him is his up-air. You can spam that when someone is above the map and nearly guarantee the KO if your timing is decent. But I do agree with you, mostly. People just need to learn how to counter him.
His up air is a little jank, because of it's hitbox, like many other attacks. Even though the uppercut (hope this is the move you're referring to) should just be his arm, I've hit people that are near his knees.
Like someone else said, hit/hurtboxes need to be adjusted before nerfs/buffs come into play
Whats so broken about the giant? I actually dont see an issue with him (no I dont play him). As a matter of fact I just view him as a huge punching bag and focus him
You haven't battled a Iron Giant main. Being a tank is understandable, but to be able to be a walking wall when setup correctly or the spam downward drops are beyond annoying, but hey I'm gonna get down vote anyway for honest so whatever.
I am in top 25k players at this point and I havent seen any iron giants I cant beat, I guess it is entirely possible theres no mains til higher ranks.
Ngl the down air spammers are really fuckin annoying, but its not super strong or anything, I just avoid the attack and come down on top of them since it leaves them pretty vulnerable.
Glad to know I'm not the only one to noticed the down air spam. Mix that with his tankiness and he's OP, but when used correctly. I'm only in the 1m rank for Teams so maybe I will switch to 1v1 like I've been told before and it might not seem as bad. Currently Bugs has been slowly becoming my new main.
I had one game where I was facing an iron giant team that would just down air spam. At one point they tried to co-ordinate and come down at the same time.
Turned from what looked like a really annoying game to a really fun one when I got on top of them and caught them in a massive Shaggy combo. His down smash to downair combo wreaks iron giants.
I love that even their lower level backup character is still a braindead easy one. Finn-player brain at work. Can guarantee they just spam sidekick over and over with shaggy.
I just thought it was funny they wanted to rematch to immediately switch to the broken character they had at lvl 20
Yes it’s a fighting game and yes they can feel the need to win but I’m not debating against that just saying it’s funny that instead of trying again with the same character/a different one they immediately switch to the broken one that’s known to be toxic to win and deny a second rematch
I've won and switched to a different (even more leveled) character because I don't want to make my opponent play against the same character lol. Plus I enjoy the variety and it's not ranked so why give a shit about winning?

I've honestly found superman to be more annoying than finn, which is probably unpopular, but I'm standing by it. While the backpack is annoying, I think superman's grab moves have ridiculous hitboxes, and the fact that he is able to active input down with is up air is dumb. If you camp the ledge, you can get a KO at less than 20 damage while the opponent is stunned, and it is far too difficult to counter, as it overpowers like every spike
This post implied that the other player did something wrong though. If this was a regular normal interaction this post wouldn't exist. Switching characters is a completely normal thing to do, I would go so far to say that counter picking is a staple of any competitive fighting game even.

And at this point we've established that we're talking about two different game modes. I don't play 2v2. I play 1v1s. I've played the game for a week today and I'm top 5k 1v1s as a Garnet player. Form an articulate though or just quit your screaming at your computer defending your main that have literally already had posts on Twitter from devs stating that they are going to be adjusted because of broken aspects of their play.
I'd prefer no blind pick with winner picking first but that might be hard to implement. That being said, counter picking is like a staple of fighting games. I personally would never want to remove the option, but to each their own.
Advisably if you want to go competitive rules it’s actually your opponent has to choose first and then you get to counterpick. Like it’d be odd to lock someone in
Yeah that’s how I take it. If I see someone switch to a different character that isn’t Finn I usually assume that this is their main and am excited for a better match. If it’s a Finn I usually assume it’s going to be a very sweaty match that is winnable because they only know how to spam attacks with broken hit boxes and don’t know what to do if you can counter them or play patiently
Finn's not even broken, his air game sucks (up special is the only one worth doing).
Any character with a disjoint can hit him out of his "broken" attacks.

im noticing that the community really hates shaggy and finn, which is really bad for me because i look like shaggy and I'm named Finn, and those things really decided my choice of mains.
Yeah some people like Finn, some people try a new character and don’t do well so they switch to their preferred character. Sometimes they just like the character, sometimes they use them because they want to abuse the most op character, either way it doesn’t matter. Sometimes people cry on Reddit and act like a victim for attention, like now. It’s silly. Finn can be beat if you’re the better player, the hit box is just a little annoying.

I do kind of agree if I happen to practicing one character and I didn't beat the guy.
I have two choices. I can try again with the same character to try and better my previous effort and have another go in learning to beat the current opponent with the same character I want to practice.
Or I can just give in and switch to my main.
If the Superman player has already proven he clearly dominated the guy when he played Shaggy , if the player think they can't do well enough again with Shaggy to give a respectable followup match.
Maybe the right decision was to bring out his best character , to give the other player a good match. Rather than pick Shaggy again and give the Superman another easy win . If the match was easy for the Superman player that is. It's hard to tell without context.
If it was a close match ,then the other player probably should have stuck with Shaggy to try better his previous effort. But you must also consider he wanted to bring out his best against a player he might not meet again.

Idk why people aren't understanding your point with this post lol.; Switching to Finn after you lose the match is the equivalent of KD leaving the Thunder for Golden State. It's not that it's "illegal" or anything but it *is* kinda shitty, especially if the match was close beforehand.
I mean if you're gonna say that he should learn the matchup with Finn, you could very easily say the opponent should learn how to play with characters other than Finn. It's pretty telling when you lose and then swap to the cheapest character in the game in my opinion, but to each his own I guess.
Both sides had every option to switch characters, that’s a inherent aspect of fighting games. Counterpicking is not a new thing it’s a competitively reasonable thing to do

Fin is not broken at all he’s just easy to use for lower level players. There’s a reason most pros are playing as Bugs and not Fin. A competitive Bugs player will demolish a similar skilled Fin player.
I have never had an issue with his armor tbh. You just have to learn not to attack him if he’s using an attack with armor until he’s done with the attack. Most superman’s play a very vlinear game and it’s easy to learn and predict their patterns pretty early into the match. Most of them play the same too.
Listen I'm all for disliking character If that character actually deserves it, SUPER MAN IS NOT THAT CHARACTER. Well people get out their main when they wanna get serious , he probably was just practicing Shaggy. He probably just wanted to win the next match , instead of practice Shaggy some more.
I tend to stay with the character I am practicing for a while for rematches.
Winning isn't as important to me , than trying to get better with the character I decided to practice for the next 30mins / hour.
I'm willing to try again and try to learn my mistake or study how to beat my opponent using the same character I am practicing. Rather than switch to my main to make it easier for myself.
For example I took ReinDog into Solos today , lost to a Jake. Then I beat the Jake in the Rematch. Then lost to his Shaggy in the Final. All 3 matches the guy teabags ... lol ...
Well I don't need to teabag , for me using Rein Dog in solos and getting a in win off him is teabagging in itself. (Even better forcing him to switch character)

Switching characters after rematch is normal. It even happens in Pro tournaments (Which is wise if money is on the line) in best of 3/5 matches.
You know another sign that it's normal practice ? Because the game lets you change characters between matches.... lol ...
This is my most hated part about this game easily. Can’t beat me with x character so you switch to your level 20+ main just to win a casual match. I could accept it in ranked mode but that doesn’t exist yet. It’s my own mental gymnastics but I hate losing and when they switch to their main it’s so much more disrespectful to me. I hate it.
Idc if the person switches to their main, it’s when they switch the the character with broken hit boxes. If someone pulls out their main I’m sure it’s going to be a better match, but against Finn’s you’re going to find a lot of people salty they lost and just spamming his backpack or sword combo with crazy hit boxes, and shit down if you can counter those.
Y'all do realize levels don't mean shit right? Most of, if not all characters can train perks before level 10. level 20+ means nothing except that they use them a lot
It's more about switching to Finn, if I see a high level Finn I already know exactly what type of player that person is. Resorting to broken characters because you couldn't win with a weaker character is just very telling of the type of player you are.
People aren't playing Finn because they like him, they are playing him because he is broken and easy to win with. Them switching to him after they lose proves that. After Dinner gets nerfed we will see how many people keep switching to him, willing to bet that the number will drop drastically.
I use my experimental characters first, and if I lose to a level 10 or higher character I’ll break out my main of Finn. Don’t get what the big deal is. Not easy being a level 3 Jake facing a level 18 Harley Quinn.

Currently grinding with bugs bunny and he's so fun, much more fun than finn

His down air is super punishable FYI. Dodge it and when he lands he can't do anything for 2 seconds.
If you’re losing to iron giant that much your bad at dodging his moves are slow as hell and have tons of end lag. Dodge and punish.

I've honestly found superman to be more annoying than finn, which is probably unpopular, but I'm standing by it. While the backpack is annoying, I think superman's grab moves have ridiculous hitboxes, and the fact that he is able to active input down with is up air is dumb. If you camp the ledge, you can get a KO at less than 20 damage while the opponent is stunned, and it is far too difficult to counter, as it overpowers like every spike

Yeah that’s how I take it. If I see someone switch to a different character that isn’t Finn I usually assume that this is their main and am excited for a better match. If it’s a Finn I usually assume it’s going to be a very sweaty match that is winnable because they only know how to spam attacks with broken hit boxes and don’t know what to do if you can counter them or play patiently

Yeah some people like Finn, some people try a new character and don’t do well so they switch to their preferred character. Sometimes they just like the character, sometimes they use them because they want to abuse the most op character, either way it doesn’t matter. Sometimes people cry on Reddit and act like a victim for attention, like now. It’s silly. Finn can be beat if you’re the better player, the hit box is just a little annoying.

Yeah that's their personal decision at the end of the day. Happens all the times in fighting games. Will be happening all the time in Multiverse too. I do kind of agree if I happen to practicing one character and I didn't beat the guy. I have two choices. I can try again with the same character to try and better my previous effort and have another go in learning to beat the current opponent with the same character I want to practice. Or I can just give in and switch to my main. If the Superman player has already proven he clearly dominated the guy when he played Shaggy , if the player think they can't do well enough again with Shaggy to give a respectable followup match. Maybe the right decision was to bring out his best character , to give the other player a good match. Rather than pick Shaggy again and give the Superman another easy win . If the match was easy for the Superman player that is. It's hard to tell without context. If it was a close match ,then the other player probably should have stuck with Shaggy to try better his previous effort. But you must also consider he wanted to bring out his best against a player he might not meet again.

Fin is not broken at all he’s just easy to use for lower level players. There’s a reason most pros are playing as Bugs and not Fin. A competitive Bugs player will demolish a similar skilled Fin player.

I have never had an issue with his armor tbh. You just have to learn not to attack him if he’s using an attack with armor until he’s done with the attack. Most superman’s play a very vlinear game and it’s easy to learn and predict their patterns pretty early into the match. Most of them play the same too.

Well people get out their main when they wanna get serious , he probably was just practicing Shaggy. He probably just wanted to win the next match , instead of practice Shaggy some more. I tend to stay with the character I am practicing for a while for rematches. Winning isn't as important to me , than trying to get better with the character I decided to practice for the next 30mins / hour. I'm willing to try again and try to learn my mistake or study how to beat my opponent using the same character I am practicing. Rather than switch to my main to make it easier for myself. For example I took ReinDog into Solos today , lost to a Jake. Then I beat the Jake in the Rematch. Then lost to his Shaggy in the Final. All 3 matches the guy teabags ... lol ... Well I don't need to teabag , for me using Rein Dog in solos and getting a in win off him is teabagging in itself. (Even better forcing him to switch character) I mean who teabags after just barely winning with a Bruiser against Support ? A bit too proud of himself there... lol ... I probably don't need to post a topic on it every time something like this happens either , cause if everyone did that , we'd probably have a million posts. (Although I do admit I'm bragging a little above) Because I'm sure it's happening to every other player , almost every hour , especially considering the amount of people playing at the moment. It's probably gonna happen to you on a daily basis if you play it everyday over the summer. Switching characters after rematch is normal. It even happens in Pro tournaments (Which is wise if money is on the line) in best of 3/5 matches. You know another sign that it's normal practice ? Because the game lets you change characters between matches.... lol ...

This is my most hated part about this game easily. Can’t beat me with x character so you switch to your level 20+ main just to win a casual match. I could accept it in ranked mode but that doesn’t exist yet. It’s my own mental gymnastics but I hate losing and when they switch to their main it’s so much more disrespectful to me. I hate it.
Idc if the person switches to their main, it’s when they switch the the character with broken hit boxes. If someone pulls out their main I’m sure it’s going to be a better match, but against Finn’s you’re going to find a lot of people salty they lost and just spamming his backpack or sword combo with crazy hit boxes, and shit down if you can counter those.

It's more about switching to Finn, if I see a high level Finn I already know exactly what type of player that person is. Resorting to broken characters because you couldn't win with a weaker character is just very telling of the type of player you are. People aren't playing Finn because they like him, they are playing him because he is broken and easy to win with. Them switching to him after they lose proves that. After Dinner gets nerfed we will see how many people keep switching to him, willing to bet that the number will drop drastically.
