"Do hard things." Okay pussy, next time you're about to kick a field goal, grab the ball and run that shit in.

Opposite_Sell_9857

I'm unapologetic in my masculinity because it's not centered around making women feel like objects, or "out manning" other men. My masculinity is based on the fact that I do the things that need doing to take care of those that I love...and power tools ;-)

Emadec

> power tools Hell yeah brother

0megon

Thank you for a full laugh to start my day.

PsycheDiver

Next time I get a weed wacker in my hands I’m doing this. Thank you.

dennismfrancisart

I'm about to whack some weeds right about now. Gotta take my Zyrtec and put my mask on first.

dr_aux757

Real men suffer from allergies and push thru... sad/s

PsycheDiver

*Happy Tuskan noises*

patodruida

![gif](giphy|5nns9xgYkxnqw) Do these “power” tools count?

antheralpandacoins

Sharp dressed masculinity

TheDocJ

Err, no, they are power *chords*.

Emadec

That is an actual mood of mine tbh

gMadMaxg

Remember. If it doesn't say "Binford" on it, somebody else makes it.

PavelDatsyuk

It's a shame Tim Allen is such an asshole. Home Improvement is easily one of my favorite 90s sitcoms.

radioactivebeaver

Aaurrah

Amadon29

Are power tools really masculine though? I think it's more masculine to use your own physical force for the tool. Omw to mow my lawn with a scythe

Spiel_Foss

Real men mow their lawn with a flint knife while wearing a loincloth.

upclassytyfighta

Real men mow their lawn by eating eating any grass, weed, shrubbery, or bush that would dare stand before them.

Spiel_Foss

I've heard that the most manly of men simply flex their muscles at the lawn and the grass falls into line.

HarpersGhost

No, flexing pecs is how you get those nice lines in the yard after mowing. But that only works if your nips point out straight and parallel. If you got one pointing off to the side, you're going to have a problem.

SLRWard

I think that only works for Terry Crews.

DarthWraith22

You’re all a bunch of pussies. I don’t mow the lawn, I light it on fire and watch the whole thing burn. Then new green sprouts from the ashes. Circle of life, bitches.

Rhotomago

That would indeed make you a real man, a real lawnmower man.

electricsheepz

I tried this once, because my rental house… came with a scythe, for some reason. Never have my shoulders ever been so sore in such a short period of time. Ancient serfs musta been strong as fuck bro.

sparkle-possum

It can be a heck of a workout but also kind of zen once you get into it. The trick is to get a European scythe (the snath, or long wood handle part, is straight on these and they are lighter) and be measured to make sure it fits you (or have one made to fit). Using the typical oversized American version, especially if it's not super sharp, is a bitch.

my-coffee-needs-me

Ancient serfs did stuff like that all their lives. They were used to it.

Emadec

Only if you oil those muscles properly to make them glisten in the sun, they deserve the attention

ThisPut6572

I got me a pole saw yesterday just to cut a limp away from a power line

Emadec

Ah, the male fantasy

ReaperLeviathan_rawr

Don’t forget very aggressive sandwich making. We do that too.

LieutenantStar2

That’s impressive masculinity right there.

Inside-Pop5470

I shave using a chainsaw. Grrrr

DancesWithBadgers

I just hammer the bristles in and bite them off inside.

Bradddtheimpaler

That’s one way. I just flex my face as hard as I can until all the hair shoots out of the follicles.

MiddleAgedGamer71

I just glare into the mirror, and my beard is so intimidated it trims itself.

PapaQuebec23

I can see you are a lumberjack

Nokomis34

A real man gives up their sandwich to their pregnant wife then goes to make their own sandwich again.

LieutenantStar2

Awwww I just teared up. My husband gave up an ice cream cone once because I asked for a bite. That was 17 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Nokomis34

Exactly what happened to my sandwich. She just wanted a bite.

Key_Swordfish_4662

So wait, are you making aggressive sandwiches, or is the act of sandwich-making aggressive?

ReaperLeviathan_rawr

Yes.

Key_Swordfish_4662

Ahh, I see. Thank you. *Furiously makes notes*

galahad423

Wait wait Are you making furious notes or is the act of note taking furious?

Key_Swordfish_4662

Yes.

boozeshooze

You're learning!

southern_boy

*Arthur Dent has joined the chat* 🥪

Avenflar

The ham needs to SPLAT on the butter. Nothing less.

IronLion84

Wait, what's this about butter?

Avenflar

Butter and ham sandwich. The cousin of ham'n'cheese

Open-Reach1861

With the crust left on, because fuck that woke crustless girly-man version.

ronthesloth69

Use both ends of the loaf, that way it is basically all crust. That will really show that you are the alpha

donolga

Butter takes the place of Mayo. It's a rather nice find.

Slw202

The British way. ;-)

donolga

Went to a smoko shop in Brisbane in my early 20's after growing up in Kentucky. It really is a revolution in sandwich technology.

penatbater

And the clicking of tongs at least twice. And looking at a fire and saying "yep, that's a fire".

ReaperLeviathan_rawr

And then putting way too many straps on the back of the truck, slapping our hand on top of it, and saying “yeah that’s not going anywhere”

gharmonica

And standing around a popped up car hood, pretending like you know what's happening in there.

too-many-un

Ha! My husband always makes better sandwiches for our kids than I do. He’s definitely masculine. I love aggressive sandwiches!

ReaperLeviathan_rawr

I assure you we love the aggressive sandwiches just as much

AadamAtomic

I cut my sandwiches with TWO KNIVES!

ReaperLeviathan_rawr

I use THREE and hold one in my mouth like FRIGGIN ZORO

Reaper621

If it's not aggressive, did you really make a sandwich?

gamerspoon

I could totally crush some sandos, bro

HereticLaserHaggis

My masculinity is me doing what I want, when I want. Just so happens that what I want is to cuddle my kids and my cat.

an_agreeing_dothraki

cats vibe in solitude, demand respect and will give it back, and are ride-or-die for kids. Mine sits on the couch with me when I play videogames. But insecure men will make snide 'you have a cat?' comments.

EjaculatingAracnids

Im getting really sick of people equating a mans capacity for violence to his masculinity. Its always insecure man children and no matter good they may be at hurting people, that skill doesnt have as much utility in this day an age as it used to.

legalquestion4112

Right. We all could be violent. Like I'm not confused when I see violence. I know it's in all humans and especially men.

getMeSomeDunkin

I love the argument.... Trans Men get jacked up on Testosterone, but do you see them being violent? Maybe testosterone plays a part, but maybe it has something to do with these guys not having an outlet for your big big emotions, so you choose violence and aggression in absence of other healthy outlets.

legalquestion4112

Shit there are even guys like Jay cutler who are on the highest levels of testosterone possible. Well above the normal baseline...and still are not assholes or violent.

Gstamsharp

Ahahaha, yes! I always get a chuckle when someone who knows my hobbies to largely consist of nerdy things like D&D and video games finds themselves with me in the garage and they're like "wow, those are some cool tools. I never took you for that." I live in an ancient farm house; how do you think it keeps standing? Through the power of my nerdy man giggles as I saw and drill some crap, that's how.

purrfunctory

I unironically love that for you. My husband was HVAC in NYC for his entire career. A burly, big beardy guy. He was paid to fix the fuck ups other guys made, he was one of the best finishers in his union. Now he’s retired. He has the two car garage outfitted as his workshop with various projects in various states of completion. He is the very picture of a masculine man that these assholes use to hold up toxic masculinity and performative masculinity. The “wink wink” kind of guys who make crude, disparaging comments and expect him to join in. And on random Fridays, this big, burly, bearded man *dresses up like a pirate and visits our neighbor’s great grandson, who is obsessed with pirates.* We don’t have our own kids but we like other people’s. Mostly because when we get tired or there’s an issue, we can hand them back. So imagine this big, burly construction worker guy playing pirates with a tiny, 5 year old boy. He’s the little boy’s *hero* because my husband is a *good* pirate. He helps people, he’s kind to them, he makes sure everyone is taken care of. He tells the little boy that the strong help the weak, they protect them and help them whenever they can. They do their chores and mind their manners and help when asked. That’s masculinity. A big guy dressing up for a neighbor’s kid and giving him some important life lessons while playing and having fun.

Gstamsharp

(Insert some nerd x toxic masc humor) Are you *really* a man if you don't think pirates are cool?

purrfunctory

We also met on a roleplaying channel on IRC way back in the day. My man is a hardcore nerd and I absolutely love it.

Dagordae

I would be but it has literally never come up. Like, ever. Kind of concerned about what these people do that gets them constantly challenged.

GreatBigBagOfNope

"The first act of violence that patriarchy demands of males is not violence toward women. Instead patriarchy demands of all males that they engage in acts of psychic self-mutilation, that they kill off the emotional parts of themselves. If an individual is not successful in emotionally crippling himself, he can count on patriarchal men to enact rituals of power that will assault his self-esteem." \- bell hooks

25thaccount

I honestly think it's self inflicted. The only person I know who's all about wearing his masculinity as a badge of pride is the most fragile ego I know. These are the people who are so unfortunately uncomfortable in their own skin that they need a label of being masculine to feel better about themselves. The funniest part of it all is that their brand of masculinity is typically just what marketing executives have determined makes them the most money. Be a true blooded man. Drink beer, buy BBQ accessories, buy power tools you'll never use but can show off, buy a big truck because that's manly, buy everything leather and tobacco flavoured because man. I think most people become afraid when they have to be a separate individual. It's almost too daunting, so it becomes easier to conform to the consolations of the crowd. Defining their own version of masculinity becomes difficult.

AraedTheSecond

As someone said to me many years ago; "A real man drinks whatever the fuck he wants, and doesn't let other people define him" That stuck with me.

ReaperLeviathan_rawr

There was a post I saw once, one that had someone drinking fruit on a date with the poster’s daughter. He was saying things about how fruit wasn’t masculine, and “why would someone drink fruit on a date with a real man’s daughter?”. Best comment: because fruit is delicious. I’d bet he’s getting ready to down orange juice and then rawdog your daughter.

TheTransistorMan

Hey, yeah. I'm going to drink that Kool-Aid my wife's been hiding under the sink for years.

TheWingus

Yeah, no. That's called Fabulous, do not drink that. I know it looks like Mexican Kool-Aid but it's not

TheTransistorMan

Sorry pal I'm a real man. I drink whatever I want now.

TheTransistorMan

It doesn't taste very fabulous

BornVolcano

Bro died in the name of Man™

AmbassadorFrank

It's really strange too when you can see through it. Someone I know acts hard and tough and manly but I can tell he's actually really soft and has some really tender emotions he hates himself for having. Everyone thinks he's an asshole because he is just really closed off and ignores people when he's upset (turning his sadness into a wall of anger) and he doesn't realize that if he was his true self people would like him more and he doesn't have to be embarrassed about it. You can tell it's a big ego problem at the root of it all

Mpython860

Anyone who thinks being a man is about making women feel like objects or out manning other men probably pays to get scammed by Andrew Tate.

BoneHugsHominy

And pays $20k to spend a weekend at Alpha Male Bootcamp getting screamed at by emotionally & mentally unstable men.

CarlosH46

Major vibes of the SNL sketch with Jason Momoa where it’s household appliances but “manly” and gasoline powered.

nelzon1

That was the entire concept of Home Improvement with Tim Allen.

Spiel_Foss

The only problem being we still don't know if Tim Allen understood the joke or was actually serious.

radioactivebeaver

Look up "Home Improvement, Mens Kitchen." Thank me later.

IrascibleOcelot

And the Man’s Bathroom.

RavelJests

Part of being masculine is simply doing what you enjoy without caring what other men think about it. I'm still baffled that jocks like this Butker just don't get that the most insecure thing is to pound your chest in a desperate attempt to say "nuh-uh, I'm not a girl!!!". So pathetic.

Bradddtheimpaler

Imagine feeling like a really masculine, powerful man because you kowtow to everyone else’s expectations for your behavior and appearance to a T. What’s even funnier and perhaps more baffling is to then watch these people believe themselves brave rebels.

Spiel_Foss

Imagine thinking you are a manly conservative man, but for some reason you use more hair products than the entire cast of Ru Paul's Drag Race.

Xpalidocious

My masculinity is based on how great I look in makeup, because my daughter has to practice applying it on other people with different skin types. Being a Dad is masculine as fuck

Bad_Idea_Hat

I'm proud of my masculinity, because dammit I'm going to make dad jokes that make my oldest daughter roll her eyes.

evilspyboy

Did you know, the power of love is a curious thing?

Blue_Seven_

makea one man weep

EthanielRain

💯 Showing emotion & being kind is harder than being an asshole

StendhalSyndrome

I mean in all technicality what ever you do while being a man is masculine. The line people draw is so strange. Like you can have some stupidly intricate beard wear dye to fill in blank spots and use white eye liner to line it up. But you are feminine if you worse the same white eyeliner under your eye or painted your nails... Men used to wear shifts/dresses/shrowds/kilts much more commonly outside of just the middle east and random places. The entire population at times wore makeup to hide societal wide illness or just for enhancement, or to mimic their gods. None of that ever defined male or female yet where we are now more beholden to fashion standards set by companies just scared and hiding behind societal norms? Because you know for a 100% fact that capitalism is more open minded than anyone the second it's cool for people to do whatever they want with them selves you will see all the stuff they do to women happen with men. You already see male makeup and the beard dye/product industries are huge...

Nerdingwithstyle

I was talking with someone the other day and boiled it down to, masculinity is or should be using your power or strength to protect and help others. Toxic masculinity is using those to dominate and belittle.

nachosandfroglegs

He treats objects like women, man

escarchaud

> and power tools And legos

keirmeister

Real masculinity is when a man doesn’t worry about how “masculine” he is.

ComatoseSquirrel

But how will I know I'm a man if I don't aggressively talk about my masculinity?

Cicerothesage

Why don't we talk about another ~~kicker~~ punter who was much more badass in Chris Kluwe. Eight seasons with the Vikings. Set eight individual records for the Vikings. Is a straight white male, and decided to be an activist for social issues like black lives matter, LGBTQ rights, and others. Especially supporting the NFL players during the lockout and those who decided to join the kneeling protests. Was let go due to his activism. Lastly, Kluwe retired and lives with his wife and two daughters and you can still see him in the media because he is a huge nerd and pops up playing board or video games. Butker just seems like a privilege white dude who thinks his views are more important since he holds strict conservative, catholic views. Kluwe helps others that aren't himself, Butker impose his strict views onto others I am not saying I want to cancel or silence Butker, but what he is saying is bullshit. There isn't a "culture of emasculation of men". I am a gay male who had a hard time shaking off the conservative view of masculinity. There are feminine gays that are more badass than Butker. You don't have to be a man to "do hard things and not settling for what is easy". A lot of women do that every day and they are badass for it. Thus Butker's point is utter bullshit

sam_the_hammer

Here's the letter he wrote. It's brilliant. https://deadspin.com/they-wont-magically-turn-you-into-a-lustful-cockmonste-5941348/

QuiveringPalm

Fucking thank you. Never read that before and I was rolling on the fucking floor. Always liked Kluwe because I knew he played Magic, but now I know he’s just a bad ass person overall.

Western_Language_894

Wait he plays magic?

BullWizard

They're playing precons, but here he is playing [LotR Commander](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0vEisIrz6Q).

Western_Language_894

Pft I've actually seen that one I just didn't know he was a pro NFL player at one point

owchippy

Omg that deserves its own MBW post

datpurp14

It should be the sidebar as the expectation. Never read that before today but I'm so glad I now have.

Bad-Bot-Bot-23

lol that URL really sets the tone. That was a hell of an open letter. Respect.

gingerfawx

Excellent, thank you. Except now I miss Deadspin all over again. *sniff*

brinsleyschwartz

Man, I really miss Deadspin.

jrbcnchezbrg

You’d see Kluwe every now and then on reddit way back when too. Seemed like a pretty laid back dude

BadSmash4

I can't decide whether to say that Kluwe has big kick energy or that he is serving punt. Reddit choose the better joke.

cantgrowneckbeardAMA

Both, both is good.

thecrimsonfooker

......fuck I can't do it

up-white-gold

He went to Westminster schools in Atlanta. For those unaware it’s one of most prestigious I.e expensive school in Atlanta. He was privileged before stepping foot on football field

_-pablo-_

Holy shit. For those unaware, this is the school your favorite Atlanta Rappers are sending their children. It’s a mile away from the governor’s mansion. It’s on the same street as Cardi B’s mansion. It’s like 2 streets away from Tyler Perry’s mansion. It’s on the same street as Clark Howard’s big house. It’s 2 street away from Steve Harvey’s mansion

keksmuzh

What’s bizarre too is if he wasn’t so caught up in the narrow definition of masculinity and conspiracies there’s a kernel of wisdom in there. “Never settle for what is easy” can easily be applied to not conforming to societal norms and instead trying to become your best self.

Cicerothesage

exactly, it is so weird that he needs to gender it in this inspirational speech. It is almost like Butker has a narrow worldview and he only see the world in the narrow view. And he doesn't understand why people are laughing at him looking through that narrow pinhole.

joey_sandwich277

Punter, not kicker for the American Football fans. So even less known than the kicker, because he didn't score points, only kicked the ball away. And we're not talking about him because he was above average but was drawing too much attention with his activism, which is more than most teams want from a special teams player. Most notably he called out his special teams coach for making a homophobic joke. Those guys are seen as fairly easily replaceable so they cut him loose. I wouldn't be surprised if Butker gets the same treatment. I'm sure the owners and GM aren't happy he keeps making headlines but doing this weird alpha male speaking tour. But at the same time, they're in Kansas City, so maybe his "activism" will be more well received than Kluwe's activism a decade ago.

Cicerothesage

> Punter, not kicker for the American Football fans. So even less known than the kicker, because he didn't score points, only kicked the ball away. noted, and changed > Those guys are seen as fairly easily replaceable so they cut him loose. Which I think makes Kluwe more of a badass because he was doing it knowing he is easily replaceable.

Deviator247

As a Kansas Citian, his "activism" can kick rocks back to the stone age where it belongs. As an ex-catholic, I'm glad to say I didn't wind up being like Butker, seems miserable being that much of a prick all the time.

DarthJarJarJar

> I wouldn't be surprised if Butker gets the same treatment. I would. The NFL is a lot more conservative than the median Redditor, so factor that in. Most of his fellow players and probably all the owners low key agree with this bullshit. Chiefs' owner is Clark Hunt, a big Republican donor. Is he going to get upset about this? Fuck no. Also he's a very good kicker, top 5 in 2023. Much harder to replace than a mid punter. I'd be very surprised if they let him go.

spndl1

The chiefs aren't an organization that shies away from players and personnel with character concerns, so I would be surprised if anything comes of this. The chiefs have Mahomes, TSwift's boyfriend, and that lovable fat man coach Andy Reid (just don't look into his personal beliefs or family) to deflect a lot of the bad press.

datpurp14

I agree, but you know TSwift will hear about this dumbassery and not be ok with it. Those sentiments will likely be passed from her to Kelce. And if this cunt can use that platform to spew misogynistic hate, she can use her platform, which is much larger, to retort. And as much as I get annoyed seeing her name constantly in headlines, I really hope she does retort in this case.

OldManBearPig

> not settling for what is easy For many gay men, staying in the closet is "what is easy" and that's why they do it. For many women in these conservative households, becoming a housewife is "what is easy." For people who come from wealth, literally anything is "what is easy" because you don't have to worry about the important things like feeding and sheltering yourself.

SoMuchMoreEagle

Also, if the conservative view of masculinity is so strong, why is it also so fragile? It's like glass. It appears strong, but its inflexibility means that it's easily shattered.

PackOutrageous

Imagine the value of your degree when your school can only get an nfl kicker as commencement speaker. Were none of the Duggars available?

Shirtbro

I think Joshua's calendar is booked solid until at least October 2nd, 2032

Mission_Fart9750

Haha, haha, hahahahahahahaha.

r_fernandes

Too busy filming the Ashley Madison documentary

haqiqa

I still can't get over how Josh and Anna named their youngest kid Madyson. And yes, she was born after the second scandal.

tango-kilo-216

This speech was his 25th whiff

datpurp14

I read yesterday that he already gave a similar speech to a commencement at Georgia Tech a few years ago. Telling a bunch of women that just graduated from a renowned institution with architecture and engineering degrees that the best thing they can do is have children and be a homemaker is one of the most out of touch, narcissistic, and misogynistic things I've ever heard. What a complete fucking cunt. I get the whole brotherhood and always having a teammates back that are welcomed in team sports, but I would be hard pressed to not tell him to go fuck himself if I was his teammate. The fact that he not only gave this speech, but basically doubled down on the speech he previously gave after he almost assuredly caught flak for that just shows how idiotic he is, and that is putting it nicely.

BigSkyBrannock

Who is this guy?

squirrels-on-parade

Harrison Butker, kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs

themightyyotimbo

Dude came to give a “keynote” speech at a company milestone meeting/party a little over a year ago. Essentially gave the above speech, while mentioning Jesus like 50 times…….to a Tech Startup company. Still not sure how the hell anything he said applies to a software company. I still bring it up at work how weird it was. I got to hold his Super Bowl ring though…..that was neat. Edit: goddamnit. Wrong kicker. It was Dustin Colquit who came to speak. Ironic the chiefs have had multiple dipshit kickers.

True-Nobody1147

Your company paid him for that.

Automatic_Soil9814

His company paid for someone to bring their SuperbOwl ring for them to check out. He just happened to be the most affordable person who had one.

themightyyotimbo

Kind of. Also the ceo is a conservative catholic. Their kids went to school together.

Automatic_Soil9814

Oh, so they are indoctrinating you. That’s a nice job perk.

Unlucky_Sundae_707

At some point it's on the people who hire him/ask him to speak. They know he's going to say some stupid shit and bring attention to whatever they're doing. Nobody heard of that college before so I guess it works.

Con-Struct

Masculinity isn’t under attack, specific, out-dated misogynistic interpretations of it are, as they damn well should be. When I was a kid my dad scolded me for ‘mothering’ a baby. I was a 10yr old boy holding a baby and making faces at it. Seriously. And these utter wankers who think their masculinity is under attack because some random people prefer to define their own identities. Who cares if they want to be considered to be men, women, non binary or whatever, it’s their damn business and the only thing challenging another persons masculinity is how they respond. Personally the most emasculating thing I can see is this completely feeble, fragile and pathetic claim of victimisation. That is so weak.

crashbalian1985

When I was 10 my dad asked me once when I sipped a drink with a straw. “ what are you gay”. I didn’t even know what gay was at the time I just knew it was bad.

demons_soulmate

my nephew's favorite fruit is strawberries. one day, when he was about 6, he told me that his dad (my brother) told him that strawberries are for girls and eating them would make him gay and that was bad so he couldn't have them anymore. I was like your dad is fucking dumb. have your strawberries. now he's in his 20s and has expressed interest in getting his ears pierced (just lobes) and his mom told him he better not because that will make him gay. Nevermind the fact that he's been with his girlfriend for like 3 or 4 years and they spend nearly every waking moment together. I told him to just give the word and I'll take him to my piercer lol.

danielleradcliffe

Sounds like you're the real parent in that poor kid's life.

demons_soulmate

yeah they watch a lot of fox news, let's just say that

ForestMagi

It also sounds like they won't be seeing much of their grandkids, and that nursing home is going to be lonely.

Indercarnive

I am physically incapable of imagining a masculinity so fragile that a piece of fruit is enough to shatter it.

Rambo2090

Haha. Once when I was younger, my dad was cranky and getting on me about something stupid so I asked him “why are you being so pissy?” And his response was “pissy? What are you gay?”

Fluid-Past-9426

Shoulda deepthroated that straw while looking him straight in the eyes, then let the drink dribble out of your mouth in the most homoerotic way possible PS Actually I am sorry your dad did that, despite my smol jok. My dad taught me to be kind to gay folk, He used to deliver groceries to a guy, who was shunned by another store because they wouldn't deliver to 'the gays.'

ceralimia

You can't beat women, children, and animals -> Masculinity under attack You can't rape your wife -> Masculinity under attack Men should do housework and take care of children -> Masculinity under attack Sounds like men are assholes

fukthethinblueline

Kluwe got hung out to dry by both the Vikings and Roger Goodell for standing up to shit like this.

SandaandGaira

He was ahead of the curve for sure

fukthethinblueline

Oh yes.

gummitch_uk

Rupert Giles said it best: "I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on virility should feel compelled to strap on fourty pounds of protective gear just to play rugby."

plastic_venus

Honestly I feel like Giles’ dry humour too often goes unappreciated

Bad-Bot-Bot-23

Ah, he has a great voice for being snarky.

Mirabolis

r/UnexpectedBuffy

GabuEx

I always hear people say that they're unapologetic about stuff like being male. This has always confused me because I've never once had anyone tell me to apologize for being male. I feel like it is not being male that people are taking offense at.

flpa1060

These guys get told to stop acting like a fucking cunt and instead of realizing they are acting like a fucking cunt they blame a worldwide conspiracy of attacks on masculinity.

Dorkinfo

Well said.

sarcasmyousausage

To me it seems self manufactured victimhood, because: *when you're accustomed to privilege equality feels like oppression.*

muscarinenya

I've seen quite a few men literally apologizing for being male in various "specific" subreddit comments They're just as stupid but at least they don't get a microphone

miffox

Do hard things and don't settle for easy is something I can get behind. Like challenge yourself. But that's in no way only for men. That should be for everyone. Strive to improve yourself. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Dagojango

"Work smarter, not harder." No one gets rich doing the hard things, just the asshole things, which typically means easy mode for the asshole.

Jeremywarner

Yeah why would that only apply to men? Because women shouldn’t try and should just stay in the household. That’s right. (He says that. He straight up says “good job with the degree, now go be a housewife”) like… what tf kinda world do you live in? Do you know how PRIVILEGED you have to be a dual-income home in this economy? I’m married to another man (don’t ask this man about that lol. He said the entire month of pride is devoted to sin lmao) and there’s no way we could afford our home and life on only one of our incomes. I bet a lot of people would WANT to be housewives. Not really an option right now buddy.

Magali_Lunel

As an old lady, out of energy for fighting the same battles I've been fighting since the 1980s, I am happy the Swifties exist to show this man the error of his ways.

Foodspec

I like to refer to *any* kicker in the NFL as an “overpaid Rockette”

Armageddonis

The part of his speech adressed to women was even more infuriating. I'm a man and i was fucking tweaking over what this glorified tube of hair gel had to say to all of the women in attendance. What a fucking cunt.

ElongMusty

To think this douche makes $4M a year for kicking a ball, and basically playing a combined 20min the whole season…

ElvenLogicx

So manly he needs a woman to run his household lol

Xibalba_Ogme

This reminded me of that meme : https://preview.redd.it/22c7puv5mk0d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ff4cf6a992ba0b17434259c1adcbf2242a1796c

fourdoglegs

Had a guy I know say he was tired of being told he couldn’t be a man. Who told you that??? He’s definitely one of those ‘alpha’ men🙄

SuperHyperFunTime

I love how much they invent stuff. I saw a post of an old beer advert in the UK that featured old retired football (or soccer) players playing against an amateur side. One of the comments was "back when adverts were proper and not all that woke shit". They went down in flames in the replies as they couldn't explain what woke is.

HisMajestyLordSteve

Do hard things? 🤨

jul_the_flame

SPORTS EAT MEAT GO TO WAR VACUUM THE HOUSE AFTER WORK SPORTS AGAIN

Aerohank

Dude literally plays a kids game for a living and is trying to lecture others on masculinity.

fukthethinblueline

That is how fearful snowflakes operate.

ToniBee63

Also has the least masculine position on the entire team

garlic-apples

What, why is playing sports (or literally any other thing) unmasculine? You are doing the same thing he is doing, saying what is or isn’t masculine

[deleted]

“Hi, me and my friends wear really cute matching outfits every weekend and talk about Taylor Swift. Let me lecture you on being a man real quick.”

GreatBigBagOfNope

Sometimes I feel sorry for those who feel the need to compete and dominate to prove their masculinity. Those who gatekeep others' access to their masculinity are scumbags, almost always in pursuit of their own.  Then they turn it around on me and it goes from sad and a bit pathetic to just deeply cringe. And yeah I know, kill not the part of you that is cringe kill the part that cringes whatever, but I can't help rolling my eyes at someone who tries to measure my identity to assign me a status. Dries up the sympathy well somewhat. Also there's nothing wrong with wearing hair gel or existing in such a manner as to avoid physical violence even in the context of sports. Better things to get the guy on than just normal things that men do.

Dont_Start_None

Who thought hiring this dude as the commencement speaker was a good idea 🤔 He should've just said, "No, thank you."... smh

Haramdour

Kicker should be fair game

vactu

Bruh, you have an easy job and life. You didn't have to say stupid shit, you could just chill. You're not even masculine or hard. You're a little bitch that is afraid to be touched...ohh I see.

UsedAge5051

So according to him women having careers is the “cultural emasculation of men”. That’s weak asf bro

Lynx_Eyed_Zombie

More like Harrison Butthole.

69Roses4Em

When I want to feel masculinity, I sandwich myself between two linemen NOT a goofy ass’ed kicker!

EfficientAccident418

He’s doing the hardest thing a person can do- pretending to be straight.
