You can buy an external usb-connected disk drive. Just make sure it writes as well as reads disks.

PeelThePaint

I feel like you're going to have trouble finding a disk drive that doesn't write to disks these days. That seems like something that became commonplace much earlier than needing to have an external USB disk drive.

TripleSecretSquirrel

Fair, I haven’t shopped for an optical disk drive for over a decade. I just know that at that time, the cheaper ones were read-only, and if you’re asking “how to burn CDs,” I’m assuming you don’t know that some disk drives aren’t capable of writing and will buy cheapest one on Amazon.

garrettj100

A DVD-RW drive also works 90% of the time — Christ, we’re old.  OP has never lived in a world with CD-RW and DVD-RW drives…

This is my generations driving stick shift :(

TotallyHumanPerson

RemindMe! when OP asks why their car won't play a CD of mp3s

PeelThePaint

My old car had no problem with mp3 CDs. But it was a 2010, so maybe it's relatively newer in terms of cars with CD players.

Key_Machine_6612

My car is 2007. What format do I use instead of mp3? wav?

PeelThePaint

You should read the manual of your car and/or stereo system (if it's aftermarket) to see what it can handle. Sometimes it might just outright say on the device that it reads mp3s. To burn it properly, a lot of burning programs will have an option to burn as an audio CD. You shouldn't need to convert the format of your file.

sephirothFFVII

No. There were specific programs back in the day to burn a 'readable' cd. I think I used Nero way back when...

Fozzy1138

If you have a radio you can get a device that will play music from your phone over Bluetooth, I have one, it works great it’s under 50 bucks 👍

Key_Machine_6612

I have a port in the cigarette lighter but it sucks so I don't use it. The bass is so loud I can't hear any music 😭

Malikai0976

I would recommend a Bluetooth FM transmitter. You plug it into the power port (cigarette lighter) and pair it to your phone. Then you tune it and your regular car radio to your selected FM frequency to listen to your streamed media. Edit to add- they range from $10-25 via a quick Google search for "Bluetooth FM transmitter"

tonycomputerguy

wait, what does the port in the cig lighter have to do with the bass? are you saying you have an fm transmitter and the bass sucks on it? buy a different one. just want make sure you're not saying the stereo in the car sucks, like your speakers are broke, or maybe turn the bass down?

Key_Machine_6612

No the stereo works fine for radio and CDs but the audio from the Bluetooth connector in the cig lighter is so unintelligible that it's completely unusable. I've changed the station it's connected to multiple times and it's always the same. Maybe the brand I got was bad?

glucoseboy

You also have to make sure that the recordable cd media can be read by your car's player. Cd -R or Cd+R . Stay away from rewritable cd formats as most non Pc drives won't be able to read them

Hot-Cup-1717

why you'll need to buy a CD burner, naturally.

TTLeave

You'll need to put blank writable cds into an optical drive that can wrote cds.

cochese25

Swapping out your car stereo an be relatively cheap. We have a chain of stores called ABC warehouse who themselves have a audio center that does this work. When I looked into it for my old 98 forester, the work and radio was around $250 since it was a mostly easy install. Look for local car audio shops Otherwise, making cds is fun and can be a great time

Key_Machine_6612

The only problem is that it's my dad's car so I can't change the stero otherwise I would

cochese25

Ohh dang, yeah, fm transmitter is probably your best bet then, as have been said. Look for one with great reviews because a lot of them are terrible

tonycomputerguy

if you have a working FM radio in your car, just get a Bluetooth fm transmitter, pair it to your phone and rock out with your cock out

Daddo55

Step 1: download Napster

OMGWTFBBQUE

This post made me feel old and I hate OP for that

Key_Machine_6612

Sorry 😔

OMGWTFBBQUE

It’s not your fault that your parent didn’t have unprotected sex sooner

Chris_O_Matic

Buy an FM transmitter. Then you won’t have to worry about CDs.

Kerby233

Anyburn

pslickhead

A cheap replacement car radio with Bluetooth is cheaper than a cd burner. You can get one for $20-$30.

mam88k

I found a good CD/DVD read/write drive on Amazon for 20 bucks. It’s all cheap these days, so it’s up to OP if they want to fool with CDs or physically replacing the car stereo.

pslickhead

>it's up to OP Of course. That's why I brought it up. You know, to be sure they understands it's a cheap opton.

tonycomputerguy

F M T R A N S M I T T E R F F S !

mam88k

I had one of those before I got a car with Bluetooth. I believe the correct technical term is “it sucked ass”

ShitFuck2000

If it has a cassette deck they have special cassettes that runs a wire to a headphone jack

whatssofunniedoug

Go back to 1999.

BeanbagJag

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

tonycomputerguy

That's me, weeping for the future.

Evelyn-Bankhead

Does the radio have an Aux input?

Key_Machine_6612

No, it's from 2007
