That is normal, the combo for Epic Kayna on the Magical Islands is Quad (Gloptic) + Natural Double (Oaktopus), however to make Epic Kayna harder to obtain they made it so its combo has a higher chance of giving the Quad monster

All magical quad + natural double combos are Epic Kayna's combos. They gave these combos an immense chance to hatch for the quad, as to make epic Kayna not too easy to get.

You’re not unlucky this is just working as intended

Breeding a 4 element with a 2 element has like a 50% chance of getting either of them so it’s the best way to farm the 4 elements if u don’t have a rare

For some reason, breeding the 4 element and the 2 element natural on those islands will make the 4 element instead of the 2 element
