I played wit somebody who said(from jump ball) "y’all might as well quit now" he shot full court shots and everything. I told the team "don’t worry he gonna grade out" he said "I AINT GRADE OUT SINCE 2K20 ask about me" So I knew to just ignore bro while he talked to himself for another quarter and he eventually left cause no one was arguing with him. They just want attention.

Decasteon

This once they start the yelling I instantly mute and they tire themselves out and get bored

TheeCraftyCasual

Lmao I actually tell them I’m gonna mute them and mute myself instead. Just to hear them talk to themselves. I’ll come back like "you prolly was talking to yourself the whole time" just to hear them try to lie and say they weren’t

Neonova84

Aye this is funny asl😂

onemanjamz

You dropped this homie 👑

Johan_Sebastian_Cock

Honestly I kinda respect the level of solipsistic delusion needed for that kind of attitude.

100_percent_right

Nice word.

creamyspinachdips

Idk either. They’re prolly a bunch of kids trolling. There are some times whenever a teammate misses 2-3 consecutive shots, other teammates will already flop and sell the game. Latency fluctuates and affects the shot even when you’re open sometimes It’s like you shouldnt miss a single shot and have a perfect game for them to stay

WickedJoker420

This happens so often. I always hop on the mic and a say something like "dont even trip, shooters gon shoot, as long as you're open put it up." Seems to have a good effect most of the time. The fact that people start leaving when you go down by 5 is what blows my mind. It's like, basketball is a game of runs, shit happens, just play. Leaving this game and getting banned for 30+ minutes isn't gonna do you any better lmao

psykomerc

Many people don’t actually have fight in them. They fold quickly and are pretty weak mentally. Worse part is like you said, they’re mistaken about how bad it really is, I’ve won games down 15-20 many times. It’s not impossible if you know your own ability, your teammates and the opponents.

WickedJoker420

People also don't understand that you get more VC and experience for a high teammate grade than you do with high stats. Like, ffs just try to win dammit lol

Johan_Sebastian_Cock

Same. Always call out "good shot" for guys that miss shots they should be taking

ImSoUnKool

Good shot and u gonna knock down the next one.

IhateRandoms2k

It s more about tendencies, not about the score. We can be up 10, down 10, in 1 minute i already know, already spot the selfish fuck who not gonna pass all game, already know if the PG has any clue about what he needs to do, already know if the center is paint mashing without a clue, already know the 2 fuckers that gonna cut every 2 seconds running everywhere, already spot the 6'1 guard that goes to help on the 7 footer in the paint leaving his man wide open, already know who s a cone in defense. If you play this game enough, and know how it s suposed to be played, you don t need 10 minutes to figure that out. One or more of the things i stated before, will make people leave , especially people with limited time on the game. Other reasons that people leave, get matched up against an AI, or a lock, or get put at SG when they PG s and don t get the ball , or at PF when they C s and have to guard a 6'7 that can run circles arround them. I m not saying it s the right thing to do, i m just saying that imo it rarely has anything to do with the score itself, unless its a 20 30 pt blow out quickly.

Advanced-Union-8633

Mhm. No one passes all game.. give me one look.. I wiff cause I haven’t shot all game… slightly late.. never get the ball again.

CornsOnMyFeets

Meanwhile Little Jonny just missed a wide open backdoor pass because he wanted to see himself miss a floater after finally getting his man to bite on the snatch back after setting it up and spamming it for 18 seconds. But we like Little Johnny. He won't pass it when he's stuck. He will see it through 🤣

Advanced-Union-8633

Hahaha yeh and finishes with an A- and me. D+

MegaMansbroker

Misery loves company 💯 they’re bums. Lol 😂

Useful_Armadillo_730

[deleted]

The 30 min ban if lifted, you would see a lot of players just quit the rec & I think the games would be far more enjoyable for everyone. They can take an entire plate level or 2 as long as I don’t have to sit in a game mode If I have to sit in a game that’s not enjoyable so I’m not banned I’m doing the least amount of lifting possible. Grade doesn’t matter as long as I’m not banned

[deleted]

Don’t know how many 2ks you’ve played but it was like that for a while with no ban and it wasn’t any better.

Dismal_Gear4942

people do dumb stuff in every game online. its not exclusive to this community

Seyhven_

The only time I've sold a game is when I get iced out for no reason. I just had a game yesterday where I was iced out from the very start for no reason. I'm on a purple Inside Out Playmaker. Starter 3. Average 23 (the most in the lobby) and shoot 67% the highest in the lobby as well. Also averaging 5.9 APG the most on my team as well. It is clear as day I am literally the best player on my team and if I'm being honest, the best in the lobby. From the jump ball, I wasn't inbounded the ball. I didn't touch the ball a single time until 38 seconds left in the first quarter. I didn't turn the ball over. I wasn't taking any bad shots. Literally from jump ball until pretty much the end of the first quarter I was iced out for absolutely no reason. I sold the absolute fuck out of that game and I didn't feel bad one bit.

GOGOfella1

if ur team was winning this is weak asf. if you were losing, then yeah, justified. i’m also purple plate and personally, i’m happy when i get a team that’s good enough to win without me having to do anything. i can just chill, play my role, and cruise to the easiest win i’ve ever got. but when you’re not getting touches and losing, i can see why you’d wanna sell the game. i’ve noticed there’s a lot of bums that refuse to pass to purple plates because they either feel like they have to prove they’re just as good (they’re not), or because they think bc i’m purple i’m gonna be selfish, which isn’t the case at all. most purples are there for a reason and it’s bc they play winning ball, being overly selfish isn’t winning ball

ImSoUnKool

I played a game where I had like 14 of the first 22 pts. I didn’t touch the ball as much so goin into the 4th I onli had 18 pts cause the whole game somebody was trying to show they were better than me. I ain’t say nothin. When the 4th quarter the C said can we give the purple plate back the ball you’re not as good and he didn’t even start selling. We were up 22-8 I don’t remember the score but at the beginning of the 4th we were down 10. I was about to ask for the ball honestly but hearing someone in the random rec ask to give someone else the ball was refreshing

GOGOfella1

i’ve found it so funny bc players will accuse purple plates of having big egos, but at least in my personal experience, it be the bums who have a huge ego, constantly trying to prove they’re all that when they’re just not, and that’s why they sell. they see a good player on their team and instead of coasting their way to an easy win, they gotta show everyone they’re the best. most of them could be good role players if they tried to be, but instead they try to be a superstar and suck.

Seyhven_

They were losing by 8 pts. I don't give a fuck if they were winning or losing. Freezing me out at the start of the game when I've done nothing wrong...AND on top of that I'm better than everybody there? Fuck no. The team was 1 Gold, 2 Silvers, and 1 Bronze, with me being the only purple there. I always check cards to see who my shooters are and who on the other team needs to be guarded tightly. I had the best shooting splits on the team, while also averaging the most points and and assists. I was also at the 1. For me to NOT get the ball off rip for the entire first quarter? Fuck outta here.

Johan_Sebastian_Cock

Selling in the rec cuz you're not getting rhe ball is weak. Nobody is conspiring to not pass to you. Game just isn't finding you at that time. Playing 3s tho? 100% if someone immediately goes into ISO and bricks their shot I say "that's your one. You don't get to do that twice." If they do it again, they're on their own for the game entirely.

Seyhven_

Bullshit. I came down to get the ball on the inbound, and didn't get it, not once. Even in the half court setting, coming down on offense, I didn't touch the ball until there were 38 seconds left and that wasn't intentional? Yeah fucking right.

Johan_Sebastian_Cock

nobody out of 4 random people has it out for you bubs. the whole team isn't looking at your stats and collectively deciding, without saying a word to each other, "let's not give this guy the ball."

Seyhven_

Sureeee lmao So when I have 17 pts at half time and then don't get a single touch the 3rd or 4th quarter that wasn't intentional either right? lmao I know bro I know And nobody said they're looking at my stats and deciding to freeze me out. Clearly if they did see my stats they'd give me the ball instead of going 2/7 and losing the game.

IhateRandoms2k

So i got some issues with this, so you have been completely iced out from the tip off... but then you say, you didnt make turnovers, which would imply you having the ball to be able to make to s, and also didnt take bad shots, which again would imply you had the ball to shoot. So was you iced completely or not? Cuz this sounds like pure BS, and you most likely did something to deserve that treatment.

Seyhven_

I was iced out from the jump. I'm saying that I didn't touch the ball until 38 secs left in the first. I'm emphasizing that I didn't do anything to deserve the icing in the first place. I didn't miss shots. I didn't turn the ball over. I wasn't flopping. I was guarding my man. I did literally fucking nothing. From jump ball until 38 secs, I didn't touch the ball a SINGLE fucking time. After the 5th inbound, I stopped even going down for the ball because they literally wasn't inbounding to me. Someone else "claims" that they weren't icing me out...but how the fuck do I go a whole 4:30 seconds without touching the ball once??? Randoms in solo rec throw dog shit passes and they hardly ever icon pass, so someone should've accidentally passed it to me if they were mashing X to pass no??? So why didn't I touch the ball for a whole 4 mins??? Like even as a Center, I've gotten a touch here or there, but as the primary PG just out the gate not getting it at all? So yes, when people do dumb shit like that I sell.

TURRRDS

I do it because you say "sell" instead of lose.

cringycalf

I didn’t sell. But I stopped producing stats in a game where my teammates where selling me on offense and defense that I just stopped bothering running the offense and just stood in the corner. I avg like 30/5 (77/73/80) with 1 to. And ended the game with 25/7 with 10/15 shooting cause it stopped putting energy into a game where people didn’t care if they won or lost. They were hoping to get carried by doing nothing.

chubbyshooter21

The only time I sell like that is if I get iced out game after they see me scoring consistently and setting up people so they can eat too then I stop getting ball we down by 20 and start including me again because they want me to bring them back

TurkNowitzki28

I’ll crash the boards if you only press square/X. But if you are also turning the ball over while spamming dribble moves I’m standing in the paint and catching a 3sv whenever you have the ball.

AC21189

I call random rec the bottom 25% for a reason, if you there *most* of the time there is a good reason for that. Sometimes you want to play 2K and your group isn't on, sometimes you struggle making friends. But when I did pro am leagues when I was trying someone out if they uttered the phrase, "I mostly play solo rec," those people are the hardest to develop. I've never developed someone into more then a role player who said that phrase, and they were often the worst defenders both in man and zone. This sub reddit might not want to admit it but you can tell when you've played mostly solo rec, theres a way you all play that you think is good that is not, in any way good for people trying to play as a team.

Dismal_Gear4942

yea i play solo when the homies aint on and i def can tell who lives in solo rec and who is just playing cuz their people aint on

AC21189

My biggest pet peeve is the no rotation + blame game. I've seen this happen with people who play on a team too but the obsession with this man is my man, no matter. Zone, this area is my area, no matter what, and if a bucket gets scored ill ask who man or zone it is, that's not how good defense ever works. You want to pull your hair out? Try and teach someone who's only played solo rec how to rotate or to take someone who isn't their spot or man.

Dismal_Gear4942

oh i know the pain im currently trying to re work my pro am squad and the solo rec guys we working with arent getting rotations at all. they want to just guard their man and im like that doesnt work here

Advanced-Union-8633

Yeh how.. plate color?

Dismal_Gear4942

plate color, rep , and then when the first 2 minutes of the game are going and they dont run to corners and hash it is the most telling factor

ImSoUnKool

Bro I need a Pro am squad. I played in the random rec for a year and tried to go back to my friends. They suck tremendously. A team of the best rec players would actually not be bad. There are some really good players in the random rec but a lot and I mean a lot of really bad players. I’m stuck there because I thought I was the problem with my friends so I played solo in the rec all last year. I found out they are the problem. My friends play like the bad random rec players. So this whole year I been trying to find a team. I put together a good team of randoms and we were killing in the squad rec but like I was afraid would happen we lost. That’s when all hell broke loose and that was the last of that. So yea anybody who has or is trying to start a pro am team holla at me

TAC82RollTide

>those people are the hardest to develop Develop? It's a video game, man. You can either play it well or not. Playing in solo REC has nothing to do with it. What if I know how to rotate, but I don't do it because I know for a fact the next man isn't going to? That's my fault? Best you just lock-up your man and let the chips fall. You play a certain way in solo REC because you have to. If you're running with a full 5, it's obviously going to be a different situation.

Dismal_Gear4942

you develop skills on games. some people start better than others but you def get your skills up. If you ever try to form a squad off people you met in solo rec you can tell who plays squads often and who doesnt based of decision making on defense and the way run around on offense

ImSoUnKool

Bro that’s mad untrue. It seems like I be in a different solo rec. Ppl rotate in solo rec. The first time you should u might miss it but then if u say something like I didn’t kno u we’re gonna switch the next time u get it right.

Advanced-Union-8633

I play solo anything and I’m tired of it. No team play in any mode

Zealousideal_Crew380

I mean i just dont wanna make friends and talk to people online

Gold_Explanation5290

I have many reasons why I purposely sell in The Rec. 1. If I'm on my PF and 2K puts me at the 5; I'm selling. I didn't make that build to outrebound a real Center, so yeah nah. I simply won't rebound so 2K can pick up the data and stop putting my PF at the 5. 2. If I'm on my PG and the inbounder stops inbounding the ball to me and I can't run the offense for the team; I'm selling. They'll end up letting the SF with no ball handle or pass acc run the ball up and see a bunch of TO's then come back to me. 3. If the PG keeps passing it to the same guy who keeps missing the same exact shot. I just played with a PG who kept giving the ball to the same exact guy on almost every play and that guy kept trying to dunk on 3 people with 22 seconds left on the clock. The PG didn't even notice he was doing that until I got on the mic. 4. I'm definitely selling on purpose if I've been open all first quarter and didn't get the ball. I shoot 62% from 3 on my worst build (1/10 builds) and it drives me crazy when the ball keeps going to the 60 Overall we got stuck playing with, just because he keeps cutting to the paint ten times in 24 seconds. 5. If they match me up against an AI I wont necessarily sell, but I wont even play. I usually play 2K while on my exercise bike, so I'll just finish my workout and do what I can, but I wont be trying to carry the team or try to get a bucket against the AI because thats boring.

Michael_Crichton

![gif](giphy|O1oJ840fg6uOVCqdzJ|downsized) I hate so much about who you are.

Twills97

This is such a WILD and conceited response, and you aren’t “teaching 2k a lesson” or giving them any valuable data by selling. I don’t think you understand how any of this works. None of the things you listed are valid reasons to stop trying to be a good teammate. The only people you’re impacting with that childish behavior are your teammates. TL;DR your response makes you seem like a real jackass

Gold_Explanation5290

Playing video games is childish already. I just do it to take my mind off my workout.

Twills97

What’s your PSN/XBL so I can block you so we’ll never be teammates?

Gold_Explanation5290

TBH you wouldn't end up playing with me. All my builds are purple. They usually put the black labels with other black label players.

Zealousideal_Crew380

Yeah that just makes you an asshole bud...

Gold_Explanation5290

Assuming a moral high ground on NBA2K multiplayer isn't an achievement or a personal goal. I'll continue my ways and still finish with a B+ grade.

Anxious-Sir-1361

"How you do one thing is how you do everything." Bro, a complete lack of empathy for the experience of others is bound to catch up with you in other ways, other non-video game relationships.

Gold_Explanation5290

So IRL I'm going to be a 6'8 demigod that shoots 78% from 3? Good to know.

blangoez

woooosh

OkDraw8700

Bro is that from John wick 4 ? Lol

Anxious-Sir-1361

I've never seen any of the John Wicks, though I've meant to. (LOL) I just like the expression, as I think it can be informative about people and fits this situation nicely. I am pretty sure people who don't care about the experience of others in one area of life do just that in other areas.

OkDraw8700

Yeah I mean people like this actually bring people together to hate on them. Im sure it’s the same for him irl. Stationary bike riding ass 🤣

Anxious-Sir-1361

He's said, despite talking about how he sells games regularly, "all" his ten builds are purple plates. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

Gold_Explanation5290

Im only responding to confirm that this is true.

Anxious-Sir-1361

Lol... no one believes that man!

Gold_Explanation5290

Ive never been clowned for exercising until now. You 2K guys tend to be big people tho. I've seen what the 2K League looks like.

will_i_am22

Absolute maniac behavior

Gold_Explanation5290

Going online and playing against an AI is maniac behavior. 2K should just sub in another online player for the AI. It's 2024. They do it in COD all the time. The team quits and they fill in the game with a whole new team in less than a minute.

lolduy

are you proposing that 2k replicates that model from COD?

Gold_Explanation5290

I'm proposing they find a way to keep the game fun. If I can't quit a game because of a ban risk, then I'll just run around in circles until the game is done. Thats what most people do when there's a blow-out in the Rec anyway.

lolduy

u def proposed that they replicate what COD does lmaooo that’s bonkers

Fickle-Entrance-807

Bruh, if i got sent into a rec game down by 30 to replace an AI id fucking quit...

Gold_Explanation5290

Thats the thing. 2K wont let us quit. I wouldn't sell if I could just back out the game without getting a 30 minute ban. I play video games. I dont grind video games. 2K needs to understand that.

bridgeleeet

"i dont grind videos game" but i got 10 builds and they all purple. ok buddy

Gold_Explanation5290

I get to purple by going into the 1v1 and cooking people all Saturday. It's not even a grind, I've just always been good at 2K

bridgeleeet

so u grind 2k all saturday got it big guy

Gold_Explanation5290

I play 2K all Saturday lol. Do you need proof of my gameplay or something? I feel like you want to be convinced.

onemanjamz

What do you think you’re better at: 2k? Or pissing redditors off? 😂

Gold_Explanation5290

I thought this was a safe space. The question in the title was explicitly directed to players who purposely sell. I didn't mean to piss these guys off. I guess I'm not as sensitive as the rest of the community here.
