Trading the Hawks 2025 or 2027 picks or future Spurs picks.

kanyeguisada

>Trading the Hawks 2025 or 2027 picks or future Spurs picks. Trading at all tbh. The idea of trading even 4 and 8 for #1 is ludicrous in this draft, and even more ludicrous would be trading first rounders for upcoming drafts. The Spurs are fully set for the rebuild just as we are. edit: I was wrong and we traded our #8 pick for even more future picks. edit: Spurs gonna cook up a big trade soon with an even more redeveloping team for some of our picks for their stud player, have no doubt.

his_roomate

Most players in draft classes suck. If the Spurs want to call their shot on a guy and trade 4+8 for him I have no problem with that. Even if it was 4+8 for 3. If it gets you Paul Millsap instead of Nate Wolters and Jan Vesely it’s worth it. Fans right now think there’s not a big difference in the top and bottom of the top 10, but when we look back 5-10 years from now some of these guys are going to fucking suck at playing in the NBA and there might be 1 who is a star. I think the Spurs will stand pat at 4+8 but if they package them to move up I’m ok with it. At least until we can look back and confirm if it was a mistake which we won’t be able to tonight.

whiterock001

Right, if PATFO feel passionately that Rissacher is their guy, go for it. I trust them until they give me reason not to.

kanyeguisada

They just gave you reason not to heh. I'm not saying he will not be a game-changer. He may be. He may not be. But I'm very happy with our lottery picks tonight. I trust in PATFO more than ever right now that we have Wemby. They know he's gonna be be one of the greats (that we somehow lucked into like before which pisses off other teams heh) and I have full faith and confidence that our picks tonight were the best we could have made to help build a Championship winning team

zKaios

Future Spurs picks outside of the 2025 one are fine, we'll be good by then. The Hawks ones should be untouchable though, i wouldn't even give them up in exchange for Trae rn

ModsEmbezzleMoney

Yeah I don't understand why people want to trade for Trae, we would have to unload all of the Atlanta picks back to them and that's just the starting point of the trade. There would be more picks involved and possibly Vassell. That's why I am pretty confident we aren't trading with Atlanta unless they do some dumb shit on either side.

Golden_Lafayette

Neither would I those are absolutely untouchable

Moviepasssucks

Spurs drafting two guards. I know a lot of people don’t view Castle as a PG but for me it makes a lot more sense to have him as a PG and use his size advantage and potential rather than have him as a wing where he doesn’t have as much of an advantage. I’m also not too high on Buzelis or Knecht although I understand why we would want to draft someone to help out on offensive shooting immediately.

DaeHoforlife

This is why Risacher would be so good. It's less about him vs Castle, but if SA can grab Risacher, they have so many more guard options at 8 than the other way around. I'd be more interested in Dillingham, Carter, maybe even Topic than Salaun, Holland, or Knecht (Buzelis likely gone).

Federal_Storage9876

Castle AND Carter I’m more of a Castle OR Carter kinda guy

CoyotesSideEyes

I'm a "neither" kinda guy, but I'd settle for one rather than two. Two shooting guards (at least one of which, and maybe both of which can't shoot) is a terrible decision considering we already have a shooting guard.

Federal_Storage9876

I think I agree with you actually. Some of the recent mocks I’ve seen have us taking both so this is my best at comprising haha

CoyotesSideEyes

IDK which I prefer. I tend to hate older prospects early, and I tend to hate undersized two-guards. On the other hand, I hate complete non-shooters, and don't see how you can possibly put Castle next to Sochan and not have the worst spacing in the NBA. But then, if you dive into Carter's numbers, you see two years of 30% shooting, then 7 more games of about 30% shooting, then an 18 game stretch in which he hit 44% from three...and then 8 more games of about 30% shooting. Are we sure he can shoot? Hit FT% isn't great. That could just be a little heater. If he's a 30% shooting, 6'2" off-ball guard that's already 22? That guy is not a lottery pick. So both require a lot of holding onto the seat of your pants until you see it for a year.

Imaginary-Cycle-1977

The gymnastics you do to argue Salaun can shoot but Carter can’t is hilarious

CoyotesSideEyes

I didn't say Carter can't. I said there is a very real possibility that the 18 games of making em was an outlier. A little heater. Maybe it's more. Maybe it's real development. I don't know. But the bar for being a useful 6'2" off-ball player that can't shoot is enormously high.

SuccotashConfident97

I mean, outside of Vassell our depth at guard is very thin. I don't have much hope for Branham or Wesley.

RCA2CE

Salaun gives me Primo vibes Not show your weiner Primo but reach and take a young project trying to swing for the fences. Primo was indisputably taken too high, with or without his weiner.

paxusromanus811

The difference between the two is prima was a stealth selection, outside of the two or three teams who had a lottery grade on him, the consensus was he was a second rounder. Salune May indeed be super raw, But he's not some stealth secret project. The consensus at this point pretty much has him as a top 10 pick. Salune reminds me a little of another other bouncy raw French Fowaed..... Sekou doumboya. I wouldn't say they were exact prospects in terms of how they played, but He ended up going 15th. Almost exclusively off of little tantalizing flashes that were super outweighed by a ton of flags and raw play. For what it's worth Salune has a much better motor then doumboya (Who crazily enough is still only 23 and already out of the league) And I think that will play a big part if he ends up working out

deneuvig

I think Salaun has a much much better work ethic than Sékou. Apparently everyone raves about how locked in he is. But yeah as far as archetype otherwise I agree

paxusromanus811

Yeah I said as much towards the end and agree with u That I think his work ethic is miles above sekou But there is definitely some similarities to how the draft process has gone for both of them.

RCA2CE

the consensus had Salune as a top 15 pick two weeks ago but he didnt get better at playing basketball. He didnt even play that great in their playoffs. He must be impressing people in the workouts but it's rare if we hear that a player was not impressive in workouts. For me, I do not think the Spurs need to be taking chances on projects after we tanked a season to be in this position. We are a team in NEED of a sure thing

paxusromanus811

I mean I agree. We need a sure thing. Which is why if he's the selection at 8 :00. I hope they go with someone with a high ceiling at 4:00. To be fair, I've seen him mocked as high as six going back Pre-Combine. There's been rumblings for a while. And I thought he actually played really well in the playoffs. had arguably his best performance of the year in a huge upset win

SWBattleleader

I would prefer Samanic Vibes. We will never know how Primo would have developed.

RCA2CE

Primo is still in the league, he got injured last year

Golden_Lafayette

Luckily Charlotte will be taking that bullet for us.

SWAGB0T

“Show your wiener primo” 😂

BubbaNeedsNewShoes

HEB Combo Loco.

CoyotesSideEyes

I do not agree at all. I don't think Salaun is anywhere near as much of a product as most of you seem to think he is, and I don't think Primo was even a guy who should have gone in round 1, and I never did. So, just based off of my own pre-draft opinions, I had Primo as a round 2 pick, and I have Salaun as the NUMBER two pick. So that's pretty different imo.

RCA2CE

Well I do hope youre right and he's taken at 2

CoyotesSideEyes

LOL, that ups the odds that Risacher or Sarr is there, I suppose. And they are 3 and 1 on my board.

vell_o

💀

Dru_SA

Full frontal nudity

GSG2150

Primo?

CoyotesSideEyes

But what if it's from Perk?

ewest

Then we’ll know where the suit ends and Perk begins

Bonesawisready5

I want at least one rotation player who can contribute next year at SF or PG. If we take a swing on someone who is years away (Salaun, Williams, Topic) that's fine but I would prefer these combos for 30+ wins hopefully next season Castle/Knecht, Risacher/Castle, Risacher/Carter, Sheppard/Knecht would all make me happy. A solid SF and a solid PG, even with flaws. At least have one NBA skill like shooting or defense.

regularrob92

lol a Wemby trade would be this subs 9/11

king_Geedorah_

Topic

SWAGB0T

Disagree. He is worth a shot in my mind. Especially if we could trade 8 back a couple spots (not likely).

callmearookie

guys, quick nap before the draft to stay up all night or no because i may miss news?

paxusromanus811

Haven't seen you around in a while man. Im biased and hate naps so I vote power through

callmearookie

man, lot goin on. im growing up so even if the passion is there i cant lie that it's a bit fading away. i have much less time due to college and me taking it seriously and in not a simple degree. i am exposed to new kind of new stuff, socially speaking, opportunities, passions, so it's not like basketball is going away, simply there is much more that occupy my life. also i need sleep and rest so i cant get up like before. rewatching the game is not the same and i admit i didn't do it often this season. it's tough man, i seriously miss ya.

paxusromanus811

Trading any of our first round picks for future picks. Just want us to draft someone. If they do decide to trade a pic, I want it to be for a tangible real life player As far as prospects are concerned... Sorry but I'm so out on Williams. Really hope the Spurs don't make that swing Pretty much anything else I'd be able to find some level of excitement for. I'm very high on this draft. So I'm going to find positivity in a lot of guys. Topic, Castle, Risarcher, Holland, matas, knetch, dadiet, bub, Carter, sarr, clingan, Salune, Sheppard, McCain, there's an absolute ton of guys i'd be happy with us drafting. Some of those guys I'd much rather take at 8.... But if we get some combination of two of those players I'm going to be able to talk myself into it.

epictetvs

So we did the thing you didn’t want to see.

CoyotesSideEyes

I'd be thrilled if we traded down or out and got more future picks. I think this draft is mostly hot garbage.

paxusromanus811

I think this draft is absolutely filled with starter caliber prospects. I think if we're looking at players under the assumption that we're trying to find stars than I actually agree with you. It's about as bad as I've ever seen since I started being a fan of the draft. I truly deeply, genuinely, believe the Spurs have an opportunity to add two players today who could become key cogs on the next great Spurs game. I think that will need to be other additions for that team to come to fruition, I don't think anyone this year is going to push anything over the edge or be like a Donovan Mitchell out of nowhere rebuild accelerator. But I think you're going to end up a bit surprised if we keep both pics. With that said, if we do end up trading out of this draft I'm going to totally blame you and call it the coyote curse 😂

CoyotesSideEyes

> I think this draft is absolutely filled with starter caliber prospects. I don't. I think it's almost all absolute crap. I think the guards are especially shitty. >But I think you're going to end up a bit surprised if we keep both pics. No, I won't be surprised. I'll just be saddened. Unless we wind up with two of Sarr, Risacher, Salaun and Bub. Then I'll be happy.

paxusromanus811

No, what I mean is I think you'll be surprised when we end up with two really good players in this draft in a few years.

CoyotesSideEyes

Yeah, I suppose I would be. I think this draft is horrid, and I think we've done a pretty mediocre job of drafting in recent years. I'd love to see everything work, though, obviously. I would love to draft Castle and find out he's been a great PG all along and can shoot the basketball. I just don't think those things are true. I'd love to draft Clingan, find out Wemby's even better next to a good 5, and that Clingan can hit trail threes and be Brook Lopez on steroids. I just don't think that's going to happen.

paxusromanus811

That's honestly totally fair man

bbvvccccvvbbzx

At first it was drafting Sheppard but I'm kind of open to it now. I really don't want to see them pick sarr and luckily that's a pretty remote possibility lol. Also please no dillingham or Williams. Like if they want to trade 8 to move back and get some future protected pick to grab Williams sure but don't take him at 8.

eeveeritt15

Trading hawks picks or 4 and 8 to move up. If the draft is supposedly flat, then as long as the spurs keep 4th and 8th, I'll be fine with almost any prospect at this point. If I were to name a player I don't want with the 4th and 8th pick, it'd be topic because of injury concerns. Anyone else, I won't be mad

Notapplesauce11

If they draft two guys that are 6-4 or under… well let’s just say another beer will be drunken

Golden_Lafayette

The Spurs drafting Salaun in anyway, shape or form will make me beyond irate.

JeonSukJinKim

It will happen though.

Golden_Lafayette

It won’t happen though.

CoyotesSideEyes

It would make me leap for joy and sing praises to Popovich and the Front Office.

waffle-winner

Pissing away 2025 draft capital, drafting 2 non-shooters in the lottery, not drafting 1 pg.

1966jpgr

Clingan, Topic, Salaun, Dillingham, and Williams

CrissCrossAppleSos

I’m in a weird position where I’m low on everyone, but still excited about the draft. So I guess them keeping the picks would be what I don’t want to see happen, but something I’m expecting with 90+% likelihood

ManusRightHand

Using both picks on PGs. If you don't think you have the PG of the future at #4 then don't draft that guy or trade out of the pick

Special_Arrival_7919

Unneccesary trade up. Drafting Topic

Joethetoolguy

Pls don’t trade future draft assets for agin vet unless their name starts with steph and ends with curry.

SilverSon69

Don’t touch any 25’ picks ya bums

BTC_ETH_HODL

Drafting Cody Williams.

rsmiley77

Last year we poured the foundation for the future. Let’s not tear it down with getting rid of future draft picks or taking on a big contract for a mid player.

Mangoseed8

Although I don't like those wings, almost everyone in this draft is some level of project. I don't want them reaching for point guard. The point guard of the future is not in this draft.

NormalFortune

1- Trading ANY 2025 first round picks 2- Trading any unprotected picks

brendon_b

I doubt he'll even fall to us, but there's a lot about Sarr that gives me bust vibes. I'm down with our grabbing one project wing but not two -- I prefer Salaun over Williams, personally.

pacific_tides

Sarr’s path to Australia instead of Euroleague seems like overcompensating. His agents have been playing strategic like they’re hiding something. Still, he passes my eye test though as a very athletic big guy (I guess the path of dodging major competition worked). I’m down with twin towers and a locked-down box. I think complete bust odds are pretty low because the motivational pressure of playing with Wemby in France and NBA. He’s gonna want to keep up.

VeniceRapture

Dillingham. 19 years old - strike 1 164 lbs - strike 2 6'1 - strike 3 Getting a rotation player out of this man would be such a long shot and I don't want the Spurs to be the one taking it

Far_Health4406

Dillingham. 6 foot scoring guards not named Iverson do not impress me. Williams. IMO he’s as much about potential as Salaun, but he’s smaller. Holland. He’s an athlete who plays basketball, not a basketball player with athleticism. Trading away ANY of our picks next year for someone this year.

The_Real_OneHungLo

Drafting clingan or matas or Topic.

youplab00m-milo

Holland, Buzelis, Topic

BBQLovingBastard

Trade up to 1, drafting Clingan, or reaching for Salaun at 4. All 3 of these scenarios would be bad. Also drafting Buzelis or Holland, Ignite players are always busts.

Avatar_Iono

Oh. I like this question! I don't follow things enough to comment on who gets drafted. I just wanna see competent drafting or trades. Def not mortgaging everything for a win now move.

SWBattleleader

Drafting 2 at a position in the top 10. We need to improve at the point and on the wing, but I am against drafting 2 point guards, or 2 wings that can’t shoot.

plap_plap

Two projects(i.e. Topic + Salaun). I can live with almost anything else

Fill-Quick

Sarr at 1, Castle at 2, Risarcher at 3. Topic at 4, Matas at 5, Reed at 6, Clingan at 7, Williams at 8... Topic is on my do not draft list. Williams over Tidjuan, Carter, Dillingham, Holland, Knecht or even Edey would be a mistake. I like Williams but not more than the few above. This scenario would be a disaster to me.

regularrob92

I remember being super pissed when they traded away George Hill to draft Kawhi. Now I know that we should always trust PATFO and their talent evaluation skills over ESPN mocks. That being said, I’m wary of Topic. His lack of shooting and negative wingspan make him an unexciting prospect to me, but what do I know!?

QuagsireDummyThicc

Drafting rob

jaybirdcrouton

Drafting Clingan or Buzelis or Cody Williams Trading up to #1 for no reason

davidthegiantkilla

Picking Castle.

Tasty-Army200

Zach going #1 to the Hawks.....

texasphotog

Waste picks on players that don't put in effort on both ends of the court.

Potential_Relief3107

Don’t cut off castle coverage to go back to Shepard…. 🤦🏾‍♂️

ccool300

I hope Clingan is there at 8 to go with Castle, twin towers and a super athletic pg who is pass first would be a decent combo.

mongumongu

This

obisanshinobi

Risacher. I do not want to see Risacher drafted to the spurs.

ModsEmbezzleMoney

Dude's measurables are average to below average for his size, and he's not the most athletic. I think best case scenario is a Nic Batum type player.

egghead1280

Honestly though, a prime Batum would fit so nice

ModsEmbezzleMoney

Yeah but that's like 4 years away lol

coyote_edging

Spurs not taking BPA at 4 and/or ignoring our dire need for a point guard.

CoyotesSideEyes

> ignoring our dire need for a point guard. I don't think we have a dire need at PG. Tre is fine. Not elite, but he's a starting-caliber PG. Just a below average one. I'm not convinced any of these guards is a future top-10, top-12 PG in the NBA. And if you're drafting average, why bother?

Adjralph

Flip my shit if i hear topics name from the spurs

wanderinglittlehuman

Taking Castle, Topić, or Risacher

paxusromanus811

Who are your ideal pics?

wanderinglittlehuman

Sheppard at 4, Salaun at 8, trade for a late first and take Dadiet If Shepp ain’t there at 4, then Salaun, Cody, Holland, Matas, or Clingan. No Salaun at 8, then any of the previously mentioned or Carter, McCain, Kyshawn, or Dadiet.

paxusromanus811

Swap zaccharie for Cody and I like your prospect list a lot

CoyotesSideEyes

How DARE you question the guys this sub wanks over!

CoyotesSideEyes

I *want* Salaun. What don't I want? I don't want to draft two shooting guards, including at least one that can't shoot. I don't want to draft a guy who has never played PG and play him at PG. I don't want the GLI guys. And I especially don't want to draft Bronny James.
