As someone who is extremely high on both there is some similarity. Topic is a way way way way way way better finisher and not nearly as reliant on one hand.
But they're similar. Passers. Newness is probably an even better passer though he doesn't get to the rim, and create space, the same way It does what you mean. It gives topic the overall playmaking advantage
People need to chill out. This Is the type of super low risk potential High reward pick This team should be making in the second round. Taking someone with an outlier skill who you're not stuck paying guaranteed money too, particularly if the rumors are true and he's willing to be stashed, is never a bad bet.
I'm choosing to believe he's Ginobili 2.0 because I watched 15% of that clip and saw him do the wrap around pass. Spain and Argentina both speak Spanish.
We got him bros. It's on.
If you notice, there are no clips in this package of him shooting or scoring though. His shot is super broken acc to multiple sources, and we don’t have anyone to fix it.
Yes, our shot guru, Baron, who we plucked from obscurity. Just because every team has one, doesn’t mean the players actually get better at shooting though.
Weren't the spurs the youngest team in the league last year? Tre, Wemby and Sochan all improved greatly in 3pt %, I'm not giving him all the credit, but we've had people improve and we are so young and raw I don't see how you could have an opinion on him yet off of one year
A few of them had better percentages, but their form is still broken (Sochan and Tre) and the kid might end up being better if we drafted players that actually had better shooting mechanics to start.
There was a reason why they left Tre and Sochan wide open and collapsed because you know they can’t hit a ton on high number of attempts. I would have liked a more experienced shooting coach that has worked with younger or raw talent better. I know we couldn’t retain Chip 😞 for money reasons or didn’t want to give him a fancier title, but I can’t help but think him (or someone like him) w/experience would have them develop better.
>is still broken (Sochan and Tre)
Jeremy came in with a horrible horrible shooting form and percentages, and every year he has gotten better, and Tre has made HUGE strides over these last 3 seasons. And while yes their shots are still funky, I don't subscribe to the "there's only one true shooting form" narrative. You can look at guys like Hali or Lonzo to see that it's not always the form but the comfort, confidence, and repetition that make a shot go down.
And I trust in PATFO to know who was doing the lifting in training. While Chip was the main man, it seems like we had enough trust in our other guys to let him go, and for that reason alone I will trust them (for now lol).
And I think everyone would rather have someone with experience and is a known commodity, ( And I guess the front office wanted someone who stayed in their role lol) but there are only so many guys like that (honestly I only know of chip and one other guy) but almost no one is gonna let their guy go, so we have to do the best we can outside of that. (Like did you see CP3 in his prime and think "man the spurs could do better at PG? NO! more than likely you said we got our guy and we are happy how well he fits the system, I'm honestly hoping more for that, but I also trust in PATFO that they also have the same ideas and goals)
Either way, I think we can all agree GSG, and let's keep hoping for the best until we have almost undeniable proof they aren't working out.
I imagine a PATFO meeting like the "He gets on base" one from Moneyball.
Pitt: "Nunez gets it to Wemby an awful lot, for someone in the second round"
"But he cannot shoot! Why do you like him?"
\*Pitt points at Jonah Hill "He gets it to Wemby"
I am fine having him command the second unit until he becomes a decent shooter. If I remember correctly we had a lefty doing that job for a while with good results.
I mean he's the perfect pg for Wemby IF he can learn to get to the rim and/or develop a shot.
If he can't shoot or finish teams will just play off him and continue to double Wemby. Giddey and Simmons are examples of players who teams didn't respect offensively but are decent play makers. And both of them can actually get tot the rim. Nunez I would say is a better passer but worse finisher.
Now if he can develop somewhat of a nice shot or finish at the rim, then he'll become a serious weapon when in tandem with Wemby.
His shot doesn't look broken, though it is a slow release but has decent arc, lower body and ball rotation. His 3pt percentage is fine but his career FT on 90 attempts is a shocking 57% Kinda confused what to think tbh
Problem - in addition to a janky shot - is that he turns the ball over a lot, and as I recall we're already quite skilled at giving the ball to the other team. He'll need to fix that to get minutes, I hope, but Austin might be great for him if he's willing to go there.
I mean we are currently using a 2nd round floor general who cant shoot. So we have a blueprint in place where he'll be able to make the team. Most 2nd rounders are out of the league in 2 to 3 years. So the fact Tre have been serviceable is not a bad thing
I don't love that he can't shoot, but he's not entirely dissimilar from Topic, but with functioning ACLs and 24 spots lower.

I've never been a Topic guy because I just don't see good starter upside for him with his set of weaknesses.

Manunez
Nunez is also left-handed.
I was thinking he had handles like Topic too and we did get some cash in the deal
What’s Brian’s Venmo I never get my cut
I don't know anything about him but this two minute clip has me sold. Hopefully we get a lot of Juan-to-#1 oops
San Antonio is going to be behind him like no other. Spanish is basically half Mexican.
Same here. SOLD!
If you notice, there are no clips in this package of him shooting or scoring though. His shot is super broken acc to multiple sources, and we don’t have anyone to fix it.
Do you think we never filled the shooting coach position?
Yes, our shot guru, Baron, who we plucked from obscurity. Just because every team has one, doesn’t mean the players actually get better at shooting though.
I've some clips of him shooting and making 3's, so not too shabby.
What little I saw of his makes showed some baaad form, and that was a highlight reel. Good 2nd rd pick.
Shooting Development Coach, Jimmy Baron?
Yeah, he s there, but based on the Spurs shooting last year, there is still no one to develop them. He has not proven that he is a shot dr.

Is this Topic at home?
Slopic
Topic with knees.
And worse

El Passo
Dude can certainly sling unorthodox and creative passes.
Kids got that manuvision
Nice. He can get Wemby the ball and assists!
he's giving me ginobili and Stockton vibes. He's a hell of a playmaker GO SPURS GO
Ricky Rubio ?
Watching those highlights gives me Stockton vibes.

Damn he cold

Not a fan of the pick but the man can absolutely pass i’ll give him that.
Hallelujah! Someone who can pass the ball to Wemby

If he keeps those FT numbers up, he's going to be shooting them one handed by November.
Oh fuck I’m wet. A la TP.
Getting some Walmart Jose Calderon vibes
>Walmart Jose Calderon AHAHA
I see him going left and right with ease.
Juanu Ginobili
It’s like watching Manu all over again!
Manu gonna coach him up!!
His dribbling kinda reminds me of Ginobili.

are we dumping wesley?
Probably not this year. I think this is Wesley, Branham, and Chanpagnies last yesrs to show some sort of development.
Champagnie is not getting dumped. He’s also not in the same realm as the other two he’s proven to be a solid role player
Disagree with solid as he regressed a lot last year, but on his contract he'll likely stay.
and if they do develop, I'm okay trading them for some late 1st'
Nobody is trading anything for any of those 3 let alone a 1st

Ajay Mitchell was right there… would’ve liked KJ Simpson as well.
They have their problems too
fair, just have less in my opinion. Would like to see if he actually comes over immediately.
The team doesn't want him to come over immediately. They picked him so that they could draft and stash.
oh alright.
How old is he anyways?
20, so equivalent to a college sophomore edit: Actually, just turned 20 this month
Ajay seems like he wasn’t willing to be stashed overseas but he’s from Belgium. I had him or Dadiet here aswell. And Djurisic for 48.
... Just needs a jumpshot. I'm tired chief.
