A Woj bomb for the Spurs is something along the lines of "the San Antonio Spurs have resigned Cedi Osman for 2 more years"
Lol but seriously, I would be shocked if we didn't sign one or a couple of low-key guys that are sharpshooters today. Likewise, I would also be shocked if we signed somebody who is considered a "bigger name".
TLDR: I expect something either today or tomorrow, but I expect that something will be in the same caliber of excitement of getting socks from your grandma for Christmas.
I could see Cedi resigning, otherwise I Spurs are quiet as they offer deals to be considered, but the players will probably take a few days to review. Spurs unlikely to get a blockbuster
honestly I don't know. I was going into the offseason expecting very minimal moves but clearing salary and roster space, grabbing a couple assets, makes me think they wanna make a semi big move this offseason
Yep my sources are saying we are signing Lebron on a vet min and KD on a vet min and Derrick White on a team friendly contract and also Paul George so yeah get your hopes up
He's a great win-now guy for a lot of teams, but since he is turning 32, I don't see the Spurs going after him, especially with a long term deal. Different timeline and such.
We'll see. On one hand, they have made a few moves to grease the wheels on a potential move (acquiring assets for #8, agreeing to push Graham's date back)...on the other, some of the key considerations for (presumably) available players haven't changed (Garland's contract still is that it is)
I think the Spurs FO is hard at work at this moment. Will anything come of it? Not sure. a number of other dominos have yet to fall. The price for Mikal Bridges impacts things one way, the price for Dejounte Murray goes the other way.
On that note, *IF* they feel his contract is tolerable, a deal for Garland might be in the works and the Dejounte to NOLA trade only helps that:
Good backcourt player with 1 AS to his credit, but a poor fit with more important backcourt player for a team looking to make a move upward. Problem is, Cavs are closer than ATL is to doing anything and will want an impact player coming their way - something we don't have outside of Victor and maybe Devin, neither of whom we are looking to give up.
Brandon Ingram to Cleveland in a 3 way is a possibility still out there, NOLA gets picks, Spurs get Garland. I am personally on the fence on Garland and his salary. I think they are going to if Castle can be the primary PG and in that context, paying another guy $50M is hard to swallow.
On second thought....I doubt it the above is still alive. In terms of hypotheticals and value, it possible, but as otherwise noted, Spurs will do something pedestrian like resigning Cedi or maybe one of Jalen Smith/Saddiq Bey/Precious Achiuwa.

They just aren't going to trade for a max salary starting PG a week after drafting our POA starting PG of the future with the #4 pick in the draft. Spurs fans need to let all those dreams go.
Spurs are likely going to use this year to get developmental reps with the young guys and start making moves next syummer.
No. This upcoming season is still firmly a development year, as well as a tryout of Castle as our point guard of the future. The results of this season will determine our direction
They will find some G League players to get on two ways. This team won't spend money, shit they probably make Wemby pay a monthly fee to use the gym at the rock.
I'd basically agree with the way Mike Finger put it the other day after we traded out of #8
"To be clear, I don't like it if it's a punt.
If Stephon Castle is their highest-profile acquisition this summer, it's a huge, huge mistake.
They can't ask fans to accept that. They can't ask Wemby to accept that. Which is why I'd be shocked if something else isn't coming."
He and McDonald have both been consistent that they don’t expect us to just run it back
I kinda feel like it’s gonna be similar to last year though. Small trades for 2nds or maybe another swap. I hope we bring in someone that can actually help
I think time is right to get lavine. He can be had for peanuts right now. I like the lineup or castle, lavine, vassell, sochan, wemby. It has good balance
Something like collins, graham, branham, 2 1sts for lavine maybe?
Lavine is old, often injured, doesn't play defense, and the bulls are desperate to get rid of him.
Spurs don't want him and definitely not for two firsts.
Obviously Lavine isn't worth that, he's got 3 years left, reports are that the Bulls will need to attach assets to move him.
Beyond that, the money doesn't work at all. The most realistic one I got is:
Keldon, Collins for Lavine, pick in 25 (life protections), 26 swap, 27 first.
I don't like that though since we'd be capped for a while. LaVine's contract is toxic.
LaVine would absolutely murder our cap for a player that plays the same position as our second best player.
The only way I would ever possible consider it would be if they took off their protections in 2025, they gave us their unprotected 2028 pick and unprotected swaps in 2027 and 2029.

I think they are just putting themselves in a position to strike if dominos fall. I love what PATFO is doing.
Naji Marshall please
damn that's a good name i didn't think of!
Bring in Naji and Goga Bitadze and call it a day.
No. They are still in their no expensive mistakes territory. At most I'd expect taking on salary or a short term vet contract.
Yep my sources are saying we are signing Lebron on a vet min and KD on a vet min and Derrick White on a team friendly contract and also Paul George so yeah get your hopes up
Depends on what you are going for. If you are hoping for Paul George then no, but if you are hoping for kcp, them maybe.
I love KCP but he turns 32 this season. I don't see the Spurs giving him a 4y deal, but Denver probably will.
Denver’s almost been speaking about him in the past tense lately
He's a great win-now guy for a lot of teams, but since he is turning 32, I don't see the Spurs going after him, especially with a long term deal. Different timeline and such.

Just get some shooters who aren't awful defensively

No. There have been seasons where it made more sense to make moves and we elected not to. I’d be very surprised if we did anything.
I think nothing happens until the PG13 deal. Philly is gonna spend big and the decent FAs will want to be there if PG13 doesn't go there
Jalen Smith strikes me as a guy we could take a flyer on. KCP would be nice, but I'm not sure we can afford him.
Obviously they won’t do shit like every year but at least we have wemby whatever
At best you’ll get a Spurs sign Cody Martin to a 3 year 45m contract.
I doubt it
Do you think the possibility of a new arena being built speeds up any of our current plans?
No. This upcoming season is still firmly a development year, as well as a tryout of Castle as our point guard of the future. The results of this season will determine our direction
As long as Wemby is on the roster, the answer to that will always be yes
No
maybe one thing i can see em doing today outside of trades
No drastic moves. Wait one more season.
They will find some G League players to get on two ways. This team won't spend money, shit they probably make Wemby pay a monthly fee to use the gym at the rock.
They're probably happy he's playing in France so they won't have to spend for transport and equipment

For all we know we're tanking again for a great draft class. Wemby won't like it now but he will before he's a free agent.
He and McDonald have both been consistent that they don’t expect us to just run it back I kinda feel like it’s gonna be similar to last year though. Small trades for 2nds or maybe another swap. I hope we bring in someone that can actually help
Last year was about as close to running it back as humanly possible (minus Wemby).
I think time is right to get lavine. He can be had for peanuts right now. I like the lineup or castle, lavine, vassell, sochan, wemby. It has good balance Something like collins, graham, branham, 2 1sts for lavine maybe?

Chicago would be sending the 2 firsts then. But that makes sense
If Chicago removes their protection for their pick next year I would be more inclined
Reports are Chicago is trying to attach a 1FRP to move him and no one is biting.
Obviously Lavine isn't worth that, he's got 3 years left, reports are that the Bulls will need to attach assets to move him. Beyond that, the money doesn't work at all. You got it backwards. Chicago is offering a 1st to anyone who’ll take him and they still can’t find a deal
After the long term crapola we saw on draft night? No
