I’ve found that it generally backfires when fans of lower seeds pray for a matchup with a specific higher seed. It doesn’t end up in favor of the lower seed in most cases.
That higher seed is up there for a reason.
Im not doubting OKC, but you added literally nothing to the thread with “lakers would’ve got eliminated” Like no shit smart ass, I’m asking WHY you think so
in all honesty, it was less suns fans celebrating and more wolves fans throwing in the towel prematurely. as a suns fan i was worried once all the wolves fans started talking about how screwed they were
To be fair, that's Minnesota sports fans in general. I've been in Minneapolis for about five years, and these motherfuckers seem like they have PTSD or something, lol. And I don't blame them, the sports history here is fucking bleak, especially for a city with all 4 sports.
Just consider this....The Minnesota Vikings are the 5th most winning team in the whole NFL. But the only team in the top 10 with no Superbowl Rings. THATS why we know not to get our hopes up too high lol
Oh trust me, I know, I saw that in the Jon Bois doc, and that shit blew my mind. I knew about the purple people eaters, but I had no idea they are basically the Steelers with no championships. People here are super pessimistic about their teams but... I get it, lol that shit would drive me nuts.
Fun fact, as of two years ago the Utah Jazz and the Minnesota Vikings had the same regular season winning percentage and both had never won a championship.
The Vikings had a better winning percentage the last two seasons so they now claim the title of best professional team to never win a championship.
Vikings: 0.545
Jazz: 0.540
I saw more timberwolves fans dooming than I saw suns fans celebrating. Suns fans know better by now than to make assumptions about a series before it happens.
Of the top three seeds, the wolves looked the most vulnerable than the thunder and nuggets considering recent history against phx so its not like it was a stupid thing to want minnesota in the first round of the options we had
I get that, but a little context behind those three games. The first matchup the Wolves were on a back to back after playing a late game in Golden State on the road the night before. Suns had two days off prior.
Second matchup was on the road in PHX without KAT due to injury. Losing by 10 in that scenario not a bad result.
Third matchup was extremely important to the Suns. They wanted to avoid the play in and played as if it was a playoff game. The Wolves didn’t have much motivation to show their hand matchup wise as they were likely to play the Suns in the first round regardless. Wolves win that game they are the two seed playing the winner of LA or PHX.
I don’t really get the vulnerable aspect. Wolves were on top of the West with Denver and OKC the entire season. PHX caught MN at the right time during the regular season. I get the confidence but it was misguided clearly.
Its not that serious lmao. Suns dominated the wolves in the regular season, thunder dominated the suns in the regular season. Nuggets beat us in the playoffs last year. Its a really easy choice.
Obviously it didnt work out. No need to make excuses for past games to talk yourself into the wolves being a juggernaut for the rest of the playoffs. You guys will find out that even if you sweep us, you could have all the confidence in the world going into denver and it might not matter whatsoever. Every series is different. The mental game is a big one in the playoffs. Just enjoy each game.
You’re being a bit delusional. I was reading the constant stream of posts and comments leading into the series in the Suns sub.
I know this probably isn’t how the whole fan base feels, but the fans on Reddit were heavily leaning into the Suns should easily get by the Wolves. Heck Vegas even made the Suns slight favorites for the series.
As a Wolves fan some of these external factors made these past three games that much sweeter.
It's kinda the point of their own subs, fans of teams will be a little delusional. Pretty much everyone does it. Minnesota has done it too ("we want Memphis! We want memphis!") I've seen Denver fans do it, Memphis fans, everyone..
I’m not denying that, but at the same time I don’t think they’d have had the same reaction if they got Denver or OKC. They just didn’t realize the Wolves were as good as they are.
I mean, the Wolves on paper are the best matchup for the Suns out of their three options. They would be in this same position against either other option cause the team is just ass.
I mean yeah, we were 3-0 against y’all in the reg season and had a 15 point average margin of victory. Obviously that don’t mean shit now but as a fan I’d rather play the team we did well against in the reg season than someone we didn’t.
Wolves fans were in our sub already congratulating the suns. Obviously they did not watch Suns game this year
I mean me and many other Suns fans just felt you guys were the best possible matchup for us, so we were happy about that. I still feel that way btw. Denver would’ve been just as bad for us if not worse, and we got demolished by OKC in all our matchups. I know there were some fans that just assumed the series would go exactly like the regular season, but I didn’t because I’ve already seen that backfire with Dallas in 2022. Also none of us expected Booker to forget how to play basketball. Credit to McDaniels, but Book is absolutely in his own head. Won’t even take threes anymore
I mean we *DID* match up with them well...during the regular season, in the playoffs when the intensity turns up and the reffs swallow their wistle on small little hand checks...all that favorability against the Wolves turned into a liability for the Suns.
Amen. History repeats itself. Remember when he got swept by the Celtics in Brooklyn in the first round? He's gonna have a nice jog down memory lane tonight on his way home
Going through the garage looking for any fishing gear then driving straight to Phoenix to donate. Hope to catch the ‘big three’ before they enter their respective chambers of solitude for the summer. 🎣🧹
Scott Foster's is reffing so probably not. This is less than a month since Rudy made his money gesture symbol at him and was fined 100K
Prop bet: Rudy Gobert under on all of his stats fouling out in the 3rd.
Proceeds to take himself out of the game after a few minutes, claiming Illness
The best part of this is all of the Suns fans celebrating that they got Minnesota in the first round.
I’ve found that it generally backfires when fans of lower seeds pray for a matchup with a specific higher seed. It doesn’t end up in favor of the lower seed in most cases. That higher seed is up there for a reason.
Exception lakers, the fan base was praying to face Memphis and they got it and Lakers went on to Beat the reigning champs at the time too.
Or Heat
Lakers also wanted the 1 seed Thunder over the 2 seed nuggets and it might’ve worked out better
Nah, it wouldn’t have.
How would it not have?
LAL has been terrible vs Sac Monk or no
Cause Lakers would’ve got eliminated.
You were just better off not replying
It's an OKC fan man 😔 I have no idea where they came from. I didn't think there was even electricity in Oklahoma
Facts... We would've beat da dogshit outta okc... Bn up dbl digits on Denver every gm just couldn't close 😔
Cool, keep on doubting OKC. A team thats literally built for playoff basketball.
Im not doubting OKC, but you added literally nothing to the thread with “lakers would’ve got eliminated” Like no shit smart ass, I’m asking WHY you think so
I don't think they do better against any of the other seeds
Maybe Johnny Appleseed
Tell that to PauL Reed baby
To be fair I didn’t want the suns in R1
I was just happy to get the 6 seed. If we got the 7, we weren’t making it out of the play in
in all honesty, it was less suns fans celebrating and more wolves fans throwing in the towel prematurely. as a suns fan i was worried once all the wolves fans started talking about how screwed they were

Yeah that’s how it is with Tennessee teams too. Good enough to be in the dance a lot of the time but never can win or do anything very satisfying.
Fun fact, as of two years ago the Utah Jazz and the Minnesota Vikings had the same regular season winning percentage and both had never won a championship. The Vikings had a better winning percentage the last two seasons so they now claim the title of best professional team to never win a championship. Vikings: 0.545 Jazz: 0.540
Exactly how it went. It was less timberwolves and more just neutrals tbh. r/nba is just reactionary af

Yep, the suns did have winning records against minny and Denver but a losing one against okc
I mean, the Wolves on paper are the best matchup for the Suns out of their three options. They would be in this same position against either other option cause the team is just ass.
Tbf. The Suns did do pretty well against them in the regular season. They just decided to revert back into the Subs again.
Tbf the suns had their number in the regular season. As a wolves fan, they seemed like the worst of the possible first round matchups.
I mean yeah, we were 3-0 against y’all in the reg season and had a 15 point average margin of victory. To be fair. Most of us in the T-Wolves fanbase didn't wanna face the Suns either.
I mean me and many other Suns fans just felt you guys were the best possible matchup for us, so we were happy about that. I still feel that way btw. It was a good matchup during the season so why wouldn’t they? The team just hasn’t shown up to play
I just seen that Scott Foster reffing this game. If I was a betting man, I'd say we're getting a game 5 at minimum
Adam sent in his fixer
Jontay:”hold my chips”
Michael has to pay off his brother's debts somehow. Crypto fans need to bring "Where's Jahntay" posters
Especially since Denver lost.
Denver has a 64-48 FT advantage in that series and LA has lead for a majority of it…
Def going 5. CP3 isn’t on the team anymore
You just saw* not seen. It’s fucking 2024, man. Come on.
I hope I stay alive until 3024 and I will keep saying seen
Oh.
I just seen this man get stfud
Since shut can be passed tens to shouldn’t it’ve been stfu. I scene it
he got shut the fuck up sure but he also go shut the fuck up'd
Cmon man it’s shutter the fucked ups
No you saw someone realize what kind of absolute dumb ass he was talking to and realize there was no use in continuing the conversation
I seent it
Maybe they'll win game 4 like the lakers
Sweeps don’t make $$$. Phx wins.
Grab that broom 🧹
The odds were +1.5 Minnesota before Scott Foster was Assigned the game and now after he was assigned this game +1.5 Suns
I see the suns at -1.0 where you seeing them as dogs
They just don’t know how to report odds. He meant it went from -1.5 Wolves to -1.5 Suns.
Oh thanks cause I was confused asf
🧹
I hope so I can't stand poorly put together teams like the sun's they got kd, book, Beasley they all do the same thing no balance all please get swept
Even Foster couldn't break this team!
We can only hope
I think they get 1
Ant man is entertaining asf to watch 😂
They got SWEPT
kevin durant legacy series. history is coming
Amen. History repeats itself. Remember when he got swept by the Celtics in Brooklyn in the first round? He's gonna have a nice jog down memory lane tonight on his way home
He's bout to drop 92 on 100% fg, bet
The only thing that jabroni is dropping is another series in which he was supposed to be "the best player on the floor"
Sons are finished, no heart, no balls in that team.
I can see Min send them home. Best defense in the league, with Ant going in on offense. It can happen
Suns are trash, yeah.
Wolves gonna beat that old ass, and cause KD to flip out and wanna trade!
I predict if the suns lose they will get swept.
Scott Foster is driving that bus.
Going through the garage looking for any fishing gear then driving straight to Phoenix to donate. Hope to catch the ‘big three’ before they enter their respective chambers of solitude for the summer. 🎣🧹
Yes a sweep is definite……
Phoenix Suns beat Minnesota Timberwolves today game. 4
Indeed
Hell, no
Please, for the sake of our organization.
Absolutely a sweep UNLESS Scott Foster decided to bet on the Suns or the over.
🤣🤣🤣
Reminder the nuggets still won game 2 against the Lakers despite The Extender officiating that game.
Judging by the Suns performances in their previous two elimination games imma say they’re fucked. Scott Foster or not. They losing by 20+.
I hope can't stand poorly put together teams
Are we looking at kd kicking the tires on his next team today?
Suns in 9
Told ya :)
Close out games are very hard and I feel these Wolves just cocky enough to throw this game away
At the end of the day it’s just basketball
