My time and money, twice over, went with the Oculus. https://preview.redd.it/030osbf56d2c1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ed287e59d75bd89a7ff94bebd933ce42da0ecf6

Lost_Ad_4882

Interesting way to mix two Oculi up. I got two mysrlf one for 5.7 and the other for rimfire.

charleymcc3

The Dude asides....Rock on

HollywoodSX

I hate cleaning aluminum baffles with a passion, so I'd say hard no on the Hydra. I'm actually looking at both the Oculus and Switchback myself for modular 22 cans, and both seem to be great options, with the Switchback being the most versatile.

CAPTAINxKUDDLEZ

What’s tough about cleaning them? Recently got a phantom 22 Planned to just drop em in my ultrasonic

bubbastanky

Ultrasonic cleaners eat aluminum

CAPTAINxKUDDLEZ

The chemical or the vibration?

bubbastanky

Vibration causes pitting I guess

CAPTAINxKUDDLEZ

Looks like baffles on the P22 are stainless steel, housing is aluminum. So should be G2G to toss the baffles it it

HollywoodSX

Ultrasonic and the dip both eat the aluminum.

CAPTAINxKUDDLEZ

I’ve only used Hornady one shot cleaner. It’s small though. Only ever done bolts and pistol barrels in it.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

What benefits do you gain with switchback over the oculus?

HollywoodSX

Greater modularity.

Tickketheclown

Switchback is the quietest suppressor firearm combo I’ve have heard when in rifle mode on a 16 inch 22 rifle. And it absolutely is hearing safe and kicks ass or more on a 17 hmr. It’s literally quieter than a pellet gun. Tbac takedown 22 is also right behind it and highly recommend

Ok_Cartographer_5616

I have one on my 15-22 and it’s super quiet https://preview.redd.it/poixgjvuef2c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f3d788f66d0eadb167d1a4ac52c058338746957

pynchon42

What are the scratches denoting? Squirrels? Raccoons? Just kills in general?

Ok_Cartographer_5616

Yea those are animals near my chicken coop that didn’t belong

ancillarycheese

Otter Creek just dropped one too. Too early to see reviews on it but it tests well in OCLs testing.

CAPTAINxKUDDLEZ

It dropped? Still says coming soon on their site.

ancillarycheese

I think it is available for preorder with Silencer Shop and Capitol Armory.

Murkuh529

I love my Oculus, run it on a 6" 10/22 with a binary. If I hold the bolt shut on single shots, it literally sounds like a bb gun. And the Rugged customer service is hard to beat.

jimbobbyricky

I have the switchback, and I love it. Great can. Subs are movie silent.

michaelrulaz

Switchback

Bob_knots

I got an oculus and a friend has the sparrow. I like mine better

Woodandsmoke

Same. Oculus is awesome!

Bob_knots

Full auto rated and 5.7x28. It makes me happy

Check-Boring

I bought a Sparrow and a KGM RF22, which is a DA Mask, at the same time. I prefer the Sparrow. Easier maintenance, no tools, negligible sound difference between https://preview.redd.it/8wojbhzqcd2c1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d359bb9ef576881564653ee76495047eb50dc5e0 the 2.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Sparrow on top correct? Lovely setups sir 👌🏼

Check-Boring

Yes, Sparrow is on top. Thank you

AvgUsr96

Holy shit that looks bad ass. I want a Browning 22lr 1911 so bad... Do 60gr Aguila 22s stabilize out of it?

Check-Boring

They are so much fun! TBH, I've never shot those bullets, so I have no idea. I bet they'd be a blast though. Pretty much anything shot in a 4" barrel or less is subsonic anyways. You would hear the slide cycle, and then the impact of the bullet.

AvgUsr96

Yeah that sounds bad ass. How about the Federal 45gr "suppressor" stuff?

Check-Boring

It'll be absolutely hearing safe. Even at 40gr, it should only be maxing about 950 fps. 😁

AvgUsr96

I meant cycling wise LMAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣 sorry.

Check-Boring

Oh. I haven't had any ftf or fte with either of them. I keep them well lubed and spotless. Sometimes It will if I fill the 1911 mags up completely since I added the mag extension and spring. So instead of the 16 rounds, I'll put 14 in, and it functions fine. 😂

Tickketheclown

The federal/american eagle 45 grain is my favorite rimfire ammo. Never have any cycling issues out of any of my rimfire guns. Second is CCI standard velocity. Good groups at 50 yards and super quiet. If you shop around you can find good deals on it. Bought 3000 rounds a while back for 3.00 a box with free shipping.

DoNotDisturb-2741

The RF22 uses aluminum baffles where the Mask uses SS.

Check-Boring

OK. Didn't know that. I know KGM makes them, but I didn't know the material differences. I do know they are a headache to disassemble sometimes when they stick together.

Benzy2

The RF22 is nothing like the Mask. The RF22 uses a stepped conical baffle and the Mask uses a shielded K baffle. The materials are totally different. The end caps are vastly different and the Mask is a 1.0” OD tube vs a 1.2” tube.

Check-Boring

Same basic design, from the same company, KGM. Sure, there's a few changes from one to another.

Benzy2

No it’s not and it’s not close. Literally every 22 suppressor that isn’t a monocore would fall under what you’re saying.

Check-Boring

Maybe if they were all made by the same company, possibly. But they aren't. These 2 just happen to be are, though.

Benzy2

The baffle design is completely different. It’s as far apart as individual baffle designs get. But keep making stupid arguments that aren’t true because KGM manufactures them both. They are drastically different in design. “Derp derp they are made by the same people derp derp” isn’t a valid argument.

scoot2424

I have the CGS hydra AL. Use it with a pistol and M&P 15-22. Love it. I don’t beat it up, but no complaints.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Great to hear , like I said unfortunately I don’t shoot enough at the moment I don’t believe to worry about being to hard on a can. I hope to someday have the ability to shoot more than I do currently and don’t mind spending towards another really nice can at that time, but just to get a rimfire can in hands sooner than later would be a big win!

Gilly1943

I haven't read all of the responses, but for credibility I own Sparrow, Switchback, and Mask. For the 10/22 (assuming you're talking about the rifle length) my advice is the Switchback bc of the ultra-quiet "rifle" setting where you reverse the front baffle set. For any other application, I recommend the Sparrow simply bc it's so easy to clean in a sonic cleaner with [https://www.breakthroughclean.com/solvents-cleaners/suppressor-cleaner](https://www.breakthroughclean.com/solvents-cleaners/suppressor-cleaner)

Generalzip

Switchback

Strongerthanthestorm

Oculus is my fave of all my cans bro

Josey_whalez

I don’t have an oculus, I have a sparrow and a rugged mustang. I got the mustang because I wanted a really lightweight can for my kids to be able to use on pistols, and I already had a sparrow for my 15/22 and to shoot on other calibers. The mustang is stupid light. Can’t even tell it’s there on a mark IV. But it’s all aluminum and I wouldn’t recommend that if you’re going to have one aluminum can. If I was going to buy a single 22 can right now, I’d get an oculus.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Damn, that is the common consensus it seems was hoping everyone would let me get away with the $200 can this time tho.. 😫

IntelFrouge

I bought the B&T aluminum can and it's cheap and quiet and all I do to clean it is tap it on a table to knock shit out of it. I wouldn't hesitate to go with hydra for a dedicated 10/22 can.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Thank you!

flakweazel

Have the hydra ss and it is really quiet

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

How often are you supposed to clean it is a I guess a question that would probably help me answer my dilemma because for me to shoot 1,000 rds may be once a year at the moment?

pygmybluewhale

Good question. Don’t know. I’ve got a few thousand through my Hydra SS full auto rated is the only reason I went with the SS.

flakweazel

Manual says every 500 rounds.

orAaronRedd

Bowers used to make a crazy quiet VERS22 but it doesn't seem to be a thing anymore

Halftooned

They modified it a bit and it’s called the Icon 22

Wraccores

I like their Bitty on some of my .22 hosts

AvgUsr96

Silencerco Sparrow. Cheap and works well enough for my deaf ass. Sounds awesome on my CZ 457 pro varmint with 45gr subs and 60gr subs.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

I like your style

AvgUsr96

Yeah I'd never even handled a CZ let alone shot on of any kind and found this on on GunBroker and ordered it and fell in love. I need to get a pic rail for it and a nicer scope...

Ok_Cartographer_5616

Look up the 527 … they made them in 7.62x39 and they are awesome.

AvgUsr96

🤔🤔 yeah I've heard of them. Never seen one though... Seems like CZ is slept on around here in Oklahoma...

cbtexas11C

Oculus. Fantastic performance and a company that has fantastic customer service and support should you ever need it.

brandonechols

None of those. Either OCL Titanium or Dead Air Mask

DoNotDisturb-2741

I have a mask in jail and really want a titanium also

RROSE15

Personally, I’ve had a dead air mask for a couple years and it’s an amazing suppressor on every host I’ve put it on. Comes apart easy and can throw it in the ultrasonic cleaner. Movie quiet on my Walter PPKS 22 and Ruger American rimfire.

stayzero

There is no good reason in 2023 to buy a Sparrow.

AvgUsr96

You wanna shoot my CZ 457 with 60gr Aguila subs? You'll change your mind bro. My deaf ass thinks it's retarded quiet I tried a KG Make titanium suppressor and it sounded pretty darn close to my deaf ass.

stayzero

Anything is going to sound good on a bolt action .22 rifle shooting subsonic ammo. The Sparrow sounds like shit on a pistol. I have one of OG Sparrows. With the options today that are lighter and quieter on all hosts, there’s no good reason to buy a Sparrow today.

Isme1

Some of us still like ease of maintenance and durability. For what I do I'll take a sparrow that I can beat on any day of the week.

HickoksTopGuy

Fuck dead air for real, but I did just get my mask back and I am happy with how quiet it is. It’s funny that 6 months ago when I bought it, a comment section like this would’ve been a choir for dead air and the mask. I won’t endorse it on the chance you get a lemon, but I will say it is wicked quiet.

orAaronRedd

It's nuts how fast the reddit horde changes tune. Another 6 months from now and it's just as likely to all be forgotten.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

It is wild, that was the clear winner for the longest time. Like made for an easy choice, was something wrong with yours? You said you just got it back which leads me to believe maybe had something wrong but sounds like they took care of it? Which sounds good compared to everything else I’m hearing on here.

HickoksTopGuy

No, I mean it just got approved. I bought it 6 months ago and got it Wednesday. Shot it yesterday and from what I can tell it is totally good to go. Very quiet, machining seems solid. Without any issues as far as I can tell. I was between it and the Rex Silentium 22 can for whatever that’s worth. TBAC was the one people said is really good too, but I didn’t want to wait for it to be in stock.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Someone else just mentioned the TBAC, I haven’t even looked into that so I’ll check it out. Any idea what you can get those for currently?

someguy-actual

Right? People are now comparing DA’s Sierra gaff to SilencerCo and how fast SilencerCo is expected to be not considering that KGM makes Dead Air. So, everything DA has to go back to DA and then back to KGM and then DA is at KGM’s mercy. On the flip side, SilencerCo is all in-house so they just handle it right there. I have 6 DA suppressors including the Mask and I love em. I also have a Bowers Bitty And that’s amazing as well. …but…the Reddit God’s say you have to hate DA so…we have to hate DA, I guess. I will say, DA’s communication absolutely sucks. Even if it has to go to KGM and blah blah blah…an email or something would be nice. Ya know, just a, “Hey we got your shit and we’re sorry and we’ll throw a keychain in there for your troubles.” …nothin.

DoNotDisturb-2741

What happened to your Mask?

HickoksTopGuy

As I reread I see how that was unclear. I meant I got it back from jail. The can is fine, free of issues.

DoNotDisturb-2741

Got cha! I have a Mask in jail and I hadn’t heard of any issues with the mask yet. I really want one of the OCL Titanium’s. I may order one this week

11B2GF7

Aluminum cans are tougher to clean (have to hand clean, and can shoot only 22lr). If you don't care about either of those things, they are crazy light and the cgs would be great. If you want SS, switchback oculus and mask are great choices. DA customer service is kinda weird right now, but the mask is solid so hopefully you don't have to use it. I have the switchback and love it's modularity and it has a great tone. It'd be between that and the oculus for me if I was in your position

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

I think for the cost at the moment $450 vs $550-$600, means I can put $200 towards a .556 can also and I’d always be shooting suppressed vs unsuppressed which in my case is a massive benefit for how often I get to shoot, where as top of the line cans benefits I don’t get as much of a return on as others probably just due to not getting to shoot as frequently. Thats what the turn on to the hydra for me is at the moment

11B2GF7

Yeah if you don't mind hand scrubbing the baffles (versus using like an ultrasonic cleaner) and only plan to use it on 22lr and not 17HMR or 5.7, it's the way to go. Grab that and the turbo k and you'll be sitting pretty good for awhile

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

I don’t think I am opposed to hand cleaning it, that might change down the rd sometime but at that point I probably won’t mind buying another 22 can

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Thoughts on the turbo k at $368 vs the OCL polonum at $431?

11B2GF7

Polonium K is going to be a few dB quieter at the muzzle and to bystanders. Probably pretty similar to you as the shooter, though. Turbo K comes with a muzzle device and a QD mount, so you have everything you need if you want to use YHMs system. Polo K only has a direct thread mount, which if you want QD then you also have to factor in the additional cost of whatever QD and muzzle device combo you decide to go with. All that is to say, you can't really go wrong with either, so I'd choose based on whatever of those factors is most important to you

Phlydude

If you want a 5.56 can, look at the AB Raptor (6 or 8) and if you buy and get your Form 4 submitted by end of December, they will give you a Little Bird (need to pay the stamp and transfer fees). Might be something to explore. As far as your options are concerned, I shot the Switchback and really liked it. It will be my next dedicated 22 can

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

It’s a good deal on the AB but that raptor is hideous 😫

Phlydude

It might look weird but it performs very well. Watch the reviews on NFA Review Channel “Ribbed for ear pleasure”

chasteeny

It's not an attractive can, but reflex mount is really nice and the sound performance is VERY good. I have one I use to soften my 375 HH magnum, and the recoil reduction is other wordly

Guardsman07

I’ve seen the B&T Tiger 22 for $199.99 and free shipping / no tax (for me, GA/KS) from ArmsUnlimited. Don’t know how great it is or what it’s made of, but the price is worth checking into

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Thank you!

GRIMKREEPR420

My Oculus runs pretty nice on my factory 10-22.

CorpusCrispie762

The argument for stainless baffles is strong. Scrubbing aluminum is a serious pain

Kentuckywindage01

Love my Oculus. Have a Warlock II that also sounds great, but is all aluminum and the fit and finish isn’t as good

kingofjabronis

I have the Sparrow and the Hydra SS Rainbow. Both are excellent. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these though, just depends on what you want to spend and what you're looking for.

Reden-Orvillebacher

I’ve got 3 sparrows.. no complaints at all.

jtmcgee2

I got my first Sparrow over 10 years ago when they were over $600 + stamp and now I have several. Cleaning is simple

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

theelkhunter

I’ve got 3 Masks and have them on my .22 Buckmark pistol and 2 of my .17 HMR’s. No issues the last 3 years. I clean them using the dip. Google it

acdrewz555555

Oculus or buss. Never have I ever once regretted the purchase.

Curtisc83

I’d get the rugged oculus 22. It’s completely made of 17-4 SS and is belt feed rated. It’s a buy once and keep it for life type can.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Thank you ofcourse they sold out at that sale price while debating 🤦🏻‍♂️

Curtisc83

It’s a good can. I have the same one in jail right now. Remember Ti baffles aren’t better than 17-4 SS, lighter sure but not stronger.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Anyone know where best price on Oculus is now? Modern Warriors sold out while I fucking dilly dallied 🤦🏻‍♂️

xximbroglioxx

Gun Deals says $329 is the lowest price right now and it looks like it's blackhawk. [https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr\_search/rugged%20oculus](https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/rugged%20oculus)

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Thank you!

Extreme-Book4730

OSS Rad 22. Love it on my 10/22 and everything else rimfire.

Wyno222

You can currently get the newly released Griffin Checkmate HD for $321 + $200 stamp. That would be a better deal for a 22 can with stainless steel baffles that you can drop in an ultrasonic cleaner. I too loathe aluminum baffles and my Mod 9SK will be the only suppressor I ever own with aluminum baffles! I personally have a Dead Air Mask HD that is great, but I ordered a Checkmate HD two months ago in case DA goes out of business due to their currently horrible warranty process and customer service. Had it been out at the time, the brand new OCL 22 titanium would be my choice for $440 + stamp.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

It’s hard because if this was the only purchase I was making right now I’d be all in on the OCL TI but with trying to buy a polonium as well, bulk 9mm subs, bulk .22 mini mag and then a few other Black Friday deals here and there that additional $250 can go a long ways on they hydra over the OCL TI. Plus I totally dont mind spending the money on a really nice .22 can in the future just not at the moment when it seems like I can benefit from spending a little more evenly across the board. Plus like I said, unfortunately, I don’t get to shoot as much as I’d love to currently, but when I do really appreciate shooting suppressed lol. so I’m easy on my equipment and I am that dork that cleans his shit everytime after he goes shooting anyways. You know what I’m saying? Getting a $200 can started means less trips shooting .22 thru my mod9 that was intended for a different host. To begin with but after shooting my mod 9 I think I realized that I’m not good enough or frequent enough to be chasing decibels or perks you may get with a $400 can over $200 can, but there is a massive value in the difference of being able to shoot suppressed vs unsuppressd for me. If that makes sense. $450 means I get to go from unsuppresed to suppressed = Huge benefit. $650 may mean I’m doing things proper, but the additional $200 doesn’t gain me personally the same benefit as someone shooting more frequently or that has some of the things already that I still need to purchase…

Wyno222

The Griffin for $321 would be worth it for the stainless baffles and isn’t a whole lot more than you’re looking at with that aluminum can.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Plus no transfer fee if I understand correctly and you get the ez lok adapter and mount?

Wyno222

Yes! That’s what mine came with, though mine was ordered via my FFL and the Griffin mil/LEO discount program before Griffin partnered with Capital Armory. The 30% off BF matches the mil discount on cans, though the BF discount is better on lowers and accessories.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Yeah see you may have picked the winner here. I gotta check the OD on it though

dan556man

Where can you get the deal on the Griffin checkmate?

Wyno222

Directly from Griffin’s website with their BF coupon. They now ship in partnership with Capital Armory.

Not-A-Biologist_

Occulus or otter creek labs

MotivatedSolid

Rugged Oculus. No BS unconditional warranty. Made in the US. Fantastic suppression. And priced very well.

netsurf916

They're all made in the US... Importing suppressors is not even an option.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

I’ll take a look at it thank you, I’m not sure I have came across this yet?

Wraccores

It's much like the Ruger Silent-SR, or DA Mask, but Mask is louder than the other two. I have had the TBAC since 2017 and it's still my most used can

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Ha that’s awesome! I have a feeling that shooting .22 suppressed after yesterday is going to become my most commonly used setup, I had a blast running my mod 9 on my sbr’d 10/22 yesterday! Which is what is stemming the need of a dedicated 22 can

idratherpetacat

I have the sparrow and like it a lot. It’s a little heavy, but is stainless. I really like it at the price point.

Nacho11O3

Same

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

I threw the sparrow into the mix because it just seems like the can you can’t go wrong with, like if I can’t make a decision I might just go with one of those because I know I’ll be happy I did

Wraccores

Sparrow is an awesome second can, so get that and another .22 can

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

$37 more for what sounds like a more durable and easier to clean can? If that’s the case than I thinking that makes the most sense at the moment for best bang for your buck

Wraccores

You will get what you paid for. Do you want to cheap out and regret getting a cheap .22 can, or get a mid-grade can for mid-grade money?

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Maybe I just get one for now then, and not worry about the 556 can

Mysterious_Nebula_48

Put your search bar at the top. What are you? Old?

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Thanks bud!

Tickketheclown

If it’s just between the two get the sparrow. Cleaning aluminum rimfire baffles is a bitch. The hydra aluminum is good but keep that in mind. If I were you I’d look into the YHM phantom. It’s about 250-300$ and is light with SS baffles so it’s easy to clean. I have the sparrow and it’s a great can but honestly as much as people say how easy monocore cans are to clean they really aren’t, it’s way easier cleaning my Tbac takedown and silencerco switchback than it is my sparrow.

AdThese1914

Sparrow looks better and has a great track record.

gotuonpaper

Dead Air Mask followed closely by the Rugged Oculus.

SisterIrene

Neither, AB Suppressors Little Bird

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

You’d stop that, I finally crossed that one off the list as the price didn’t really make sense due to wanting an OCL polonium and none of their other cans interested me for the bogo

ccosby

If its going to stay on a 10/22 have you considered an integral barrel? I have the gemtech one myself but a few companies make them. Gives you a shorter overall setup and the can on many of them is bigger so it should sound a little better.

Findmeonamap

I have the Mask and 2 Hydra SS, and some experience with a few others. I have a very high opinion of the Hydra, Oculus, and Mustang. I think all of those are better than the Mask, which also isn’t bad.

pygmybluewhale

Hydra SS is phenomenal.

TapElectronic

So I’ve got the mask, and it does ‘work’ well, but if I had it to do again I probably would have gone with something like the Q erector, rugged, really anything. It sounds nice, but it’s constantly getting stuck and unthreading from the mount, and it’s heavy. If you’re not running 4.6 or 5.7 out of it, get something a quarter of the weight, for less money, and from a reputable company.

JustGiveMeANameDamn

Most people much prefer a stainless steel 22 can so you can be very abrasive during cleaning, which is basically required for 22lr

Impressive_Day5965

Sparrow Probably the easiest to clean on the market

Acceptable-Equal8008

As a person with an aluminum can. Don't do it. For a little extra a non AL can is easier to clean and can Handle bigger rimfire cartridges

I went with the el Camino for 22s and I’m happy with it

mbuckhan5515

Make sure to buy a .22 can that is user serviceable. IE, you can take it apart and clean it. .22LR is notoriously dirty. That said, do not get the Turbo K. I would recommend the Oculus or the new OCL can that just came out.

D-Clem

I own a mask, the new diligent defense road hunter, and have been following new OCL titanium since it was first being designed and I’ve been waiting for it. My advice is to preorder that. They will be in stock any day now as they’ve already been shipped or at least form 3’d over the SilencerShop and they are getting the first batch. It’s going to be amazing man I can almost guarantee from all the testing shown so far. I love my mask but it’s broken already once from 5.7 and dead air SUCKS. They still have my Sierra 5 they’ve had for 6 months and aren’t responding. Rugged by far has the best service I’ve ever had to use and I mean by far. They are superb, the oculus kicks ass but I just don’t think the “modular 22 can” is necessary. I thought I liked the idea at first but meh. My vote is the OCL titanium or the Rugged Oculus. Haven’t gotten to shoot my new Diligent Defense road hunter yet but I shot it at suppressed fest and it was great so if you like the design, there’s an option too. Edit-do NOT get aluminum baffles. Once you get into 22 cans you’ll get a small ultrasonic and aluminum won’t work.

[deleted]

Stumbled across this comment when I was looking up the road hunter. How are you liking it? Seems very similar to the OCL titanium. PA has a good sale on the RH right now

Mine will finally be in today. I’ll try to go out back and test it with the mask and titanium when I get home later. I’m sure it’s on par. You can’t really get noticeably better until you get to the CAT SR and that’s a different ball game money wise. As long as there’s no real first round pop I bet it’s great

Gotcha! I missed the PA sale on the Road Hunter but ended up going with a Reislient Jessie’s Girl since I couldn’t find a RH anywhere. They all seem great tho

D-Clem

Sick, that’ll be cool. I want to get one too but I really dislike the flash hider prongs on the end. Idk why it bugs me so much but I can’t get past it lol. I just shot the RH, Titanium, and Mask back to back on 2” and 4.5” barrels and I have to say… can’t tell a difference lol. Maybe if I was using something a little hotter I could tell more but my honest first impression was “wow that titanium was much boomier than the RH” but I think it was just a fluke. I’d like to see some testing because as much as I wanted to believe the Titanium was gonna be far superior to the mask and all others until the CAT came out, I don’t think it really is. I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s quiet as hell, but so are the others. My 50 round quick sum up is the RH MAYYYY be SLIGHTLY quieter on a pistol but the build quality of mine at least, is less than OCL’s titanium. Mine has strings of metal inside from the machining and was loose, which is fine, but just to note that it was and after a shot or two I had to crank the end cap down more. Again, totally fine and not a big deal, but the OCL came ready to rock. I don’t really think you can go wrong with a modern 22 can these days and if given the choice I’d probably pick the Titanium over the Road Hunter if prices were equal just because I like the look more, I like the company and Andrew, and have some other products and just know them a little bit better but I met the guys at Diligent at suppressed fest and got the first RH sold I believe and they were awesome too. That being said, I’d buy the RH again and again at the $300 I got it for. It seems to be amazing.

OldInstruction4985

Absolutely hate my dead air mask. It’s heavy and not all that quiet and the damn back half always gets stuck to my 10/22. Really like the resilient jesses girl I got in for review.

Spiritual-Bill-337

I like the shit out of my hydra.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

Is yours the aluminum or SS?

Spiritual-Bill-337

I got thw cheapo AL. I also have an AB Little Bird. They both are good. The AB was free, not my top choice in 22 cans but not bad. The CGS is quieter than the sparrow.

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

And have you had to clean the hydra yet?

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

The price is so tempting right now

Spiritual-Bill-337

No haven't cleaned it. I get it but realistically, how many times per year are you going to clean it? Just get it!

Visually_Delicious

Hydra with subs is great.

CleanAlternative8075

I just got the dead air mask it’s in jail . I got a gun store buddy that shot all of them he likes the rugged the best out of them all the mask is the runner up in his opinion he likes the he checkmate as well . This guy shoots a lot of rounds down range and has access to almost anything he’s not a casual shooter or being bias

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

The checkmates a good deal right now at $320, no transfer fee and comes with a ez lock mount and hub

CleanAlternative8075

The mask is $100 off on silencer shop if u use them also I think whatever u choose will be fine I buy mine for the application that I’m gonna use it for just not random shooting

CleanAlternative8075

I have a rugged obsidian 9 and I love it . Rugged has really good customer service as well. Thats a huge difference for me especially dealing with cans because they are gonna wear and tear one day

sherman_ws

Why do you have the turbo K in your list?

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

lol not for any comparison purposes, I’m also trying to purchase a 556 can and was see the add to cart price on turbo k vs polonium

sherman_ws

Ah, gotcha. For 5.56 both turbo and polonium are good for the price - if you are putting it on anything shorter than a 14.5 I’d go full length turbo or polo over the Ks. Just didn’t want you making the mistake of getting either of those as a 22 can!

Shark737

Sparrows are loud

Stonep11

The Dead Air or Rugged are the best, but IMO (with some exceptions) any .22 can will be fine

CharlesFeatherman

I own three .22 screw-on cans (and a Mist). The mist 10/22 is extraordinary quiet. As for the screw on cans; I own a DA Mask, SilencerCo Spectre II, and a Gemtech GM22. The GM22 is the least quiet, but it was bought for a purpose (Beretta 21A). That gun weighs approximately 16 ounces loaded and with the can on it… The Mask and Spectre are both nice and quiet, and I’d say they are comparable to MY ears. Given your two choices; I’d go SilencerCo; but that’s because I have three (I also own an Omega and an Octane); so it’s fair to say that I’m a fan of their products. If I were in your shoes; I’d get the Sparrow. I like my DA Mask, but I also know DA quality has been in question lately. (Never had a problem with mine…)

RedDotRookie

I shot a FN 502 with the switchback on it and it was legit movie quiet. On a 10/22 all I heard was the bolt cycling and the steel ring. It was a little creepy.

bagelbytes61

I have the Sparrow and really enjoy it.

[deleted]

Sparrow. Easy to clean

Spiritual_Waltz_7579

So if I go with the Checkmate HD what is the best 556 can for the money that Griffen Armament makes?

I like CGS's customer service and warranty, but go stainless. I wish I had, in hindsight. I still like mine and run it on my Mk IV Lite. But like others have said, AL is a pain to clean and SS will be more durable, easier to clean and more versatile.
