No idea. Maybe being part of a winning system helped him grow as a player in ways that aren't visible on tape. Maybe it covered his flaws. Maybe a couple of seasons knowing the other teams signs helped him excel above his regular ability, or maybe Harbaugh really coached him up.
All five of these highly drafted QBs that are going to start this season will struggle to learn how to be NFL players for at least a little while. History says that 2-3 of them will be good to elite level and 2-3 will be busts.
Here's hoping Williams and McCarthy are the busts.
He's not good. He was essentially the contingency plan for the Vikings and randomly got hype the last 3 months. He wasn't asked to do a ton in college and benefitted from a great overall team at Michigan. He was a game manager vs every ranked team, not an impact player. He's 6'2 and added on 15-20 lbs since he declared for the draft. He better have the same mobility or he's fucked. Fortunately for the Vikings Jefferson and Hock are 2 of the best 50-50 ball catchers in the league.

He ran the 5th or 6th fastest shuttle for all positions at the Combine at the 219 weight.
He needs to work on his deep ball and ball placement/touch, but I don't think anyone in the Vikings FO expects him to start day 1
I’m old enough to remember Danny Wuerffel. You know what was said about him when he was drafted? “All he does is win”
Didn’t work out for him. I don’t believe it’ll work out for JJ.
Wasn't Wuerffel running Spurrier's Fun n Gun? Isn't that different than McCarthy running Harbaugh's run heavy pro style offense?
Everyone said Tebow was the winner: but he had janky mechanics and obviously didn't fit a pro style offense but rather Urban's read-option
My point is, when you hear “all they do is win”, they aren’t spending time talking the finer points of their talents. The saying has been used on several guys over the years. And I can’t think of one where it worked out. They win games in college. But the NFL is a different beast all together.
Danny Awful was drafted in like the 6th round, though, wasn’t he? He was part of that whole run if Heisman Trophy QBs in the 90s-early 00s that attracted basically zero interest.
No flair, not a meme. Gentlemen, it is time to join together to say: "Flair up, pussy."
The only thing this sub will ever agree on.
That and absolutely dogging on someone when they come in here with an AFCLeast flair.

Is this the same guy from Old School?
You wish

And here’s to hoping Jordan Love is on a Mac Jones/Danny Dimes arc
Probably gonna have a better year than Caleb Williams.
I hope for the fans sake the Vikings run game is good because JJ isn’t.

That's good then. I'm sure by week 4 everyone will be clamoring for him to start
Well GEQBUS is their starter atm. May take less than a month lol
Yep, looks like the "suck for sam" plan didn't work out for the Jets

No idea, but its funny that Vikings are crowning him after months of petulant "durr we duhnt even no if he's good yet" coming from them

You, sir, are old.
I am. Old enough to remember when the Pack was bad.
