1. Why is that "Eww"?
2. If you just dislike something you see on reddit and don't have any constructive criticism to give, just downvote it and move on. Nobody needs to know that specifically you don't like something. These types of comments are just taking up space and doing nothing of value
I remember the times before times. Before Reddit, before Twitter, before Facebook, even before MySpace, I was here. I have searched with Alta Vista, I have bemoaned Duke Nukem Forever on Slashdot with a 5-digit user ID, I have clicked through webrings, and argued over Usenet and by email over listserv. And yet further back, I beheld with my own eyes a personal computing system with a 20 MB hard drive and wondered how anyone would ever make use of all that space. I have played STARTREK on a timesharing system, with a Teletype Model 33 connected by modem, and I didn't count the yards of paper wasted for printing out the moves.
Endless ages have passed, yet I remain. Nor have I broken a single bone.
It’s baffling to me to try to comprehend a time before I existed. I asked my mom (she’s 42) what she did before the internet and stuff. She was like, “…I took walks?”
Not only did kids have a lot more freedom back then - most TV stations actually did run a PSA at 10:00 p.m. every night reminding parents that their children should probably be back at home by then - but there were a lot more public social spaces where people could go, which became especially important around high school age. For example, hanging out at the mall used to be a really big thing back in the '80s. One reason for the decline of the mall is the decline of its importance is that kind of space as people of all ages socialized more and more on the internet.
We didn't have any place like that nearby where I grew up, and you were pretty much stuck socializing with family and friends, or finding other favorite things to do in your neighborhood. And of course, for home entertainment you were pretty much reliant on whatever was on broadcast TV.
Classic example of only feeling like you need something because you have it. Back then they didn't feel as bored as you might think because they didn't have internet, so they didn't feel like "man I really could go for some games right now"
I know that people say this all the time and it’s often seen as BS but I truly wish I could have experienced a time without the internet. At least in my childhood and teen years. Of course I’m thankful for the internet because I have the whole world at my fingertips, but I really wish I could have developed my brain without screens. I’m trying my best at the moment to limit my screen time, and lengthen my attention span, because I’m well aware my brain won’t be fully developed for another 4 or so years so it’s not too late for me, but god damn is it hard
I'm 40 and have been run over by cars twice and do MMA. Tore tendons a few times but never broke a bone so far. Not saying I'm necessarily the strongest, but I'm up there.
I mean I'll be old eventually and I can't see myself ever breaking a bone but 70 is pretty old idk if I can beat that in just lifespan alone. But my bones will carry on for eternity.
If it's older than 4 hours you need to call your doctor
You’ve awakened my inner 12 year old

My very late 50s, no broken bones, but I’m a lover not a fighter.
It's a good thing you're not a fighter. The BBB population will have a drastic decline if you choose to fight!
Who cares about them (and when everyone is strong boned, no one is)
Are you a viltrumite?
I think there's at least one person here older than me, but I'm the oldest one who has replied so far.
Wow! Do you remember a time before Reddit? 😱

Oh yeah, before the internet when BBS were kings! Diggin’ it.
I’ve blown into an NES cartridge near the Tannhäuser Gate.
Thanks, that's exactly the vibe I was going for. Edit: Although my family's first game console was one of these: https://voxodyssey.com/odyssey-500

I'm 40 and have been run over by cars twice and do MMA. Tore tendons a few times but never broke a bone so far. Not saying I'm necessarily the strongest, but I'm up there.
You're all wrong. It's me. I'm 15.

You're the youngest
I’m 40, but I know there are older and wiser.

Definitely not me
I don't think there's anyone with the 80+ user flair over here lol
I’m 27, I guess that’s pretty old.
If you think 27 is old, then just wait till you turn 28.
I mean I'll be old eventually and I can't see myself ever breaking a bone but 70 is pretty old idk if I can beat that in just lifespan alone. But my bones will carry on for eternity.
not me
I’m 40 I’m sure I’m in the middle of the age group
