Honestly, I’m surprised they don’t have this tradition in places outside of East Asia, like New Orleans. I’m sure more people would take the morning off of work to attend a stripper funeral.
I was gonna say, I'm generally not one to suggest people are faking their public displays of opinion, but the sheer theatrics involved in "mourning" here really look like this is some kind of act. Like beyond the cynical take of "this is fake" it's so obviously performative that it makes me think there is a cultural element here lost in translation.

I read once that there were even people who would be paid to die and be buried with a person! The money would go to their families, of course.
