I find everything at Lilly’s a bit heavy/ greasy. That’s sort of the opposite I’m going for when I crave Vietnamese food.
Pho Cam Ly was really in a league of their own.
Pho bang, while not necessarily perfectly consistent in exact flavor/composition, is absolutely uniform in the fact that every location I’ve been to is excellent.
I suggest everyone locate their closest pho bang and try it, if you haven’t.
Their goi cuon is pretty good, but the peanut sauce really puts them over the top. Or anything else you slather it on.
I don't know what's going on with that stuff, but it's fuckin' incredible.
I tried tan dinh because everyone recommends it and the broth is basically just chicken noodle out of a can. Never had anything like it. Except Campbells. Truly. There also wasn’t a single viet person eating there. Tells you everything you need to know.
Those are solid choices. I also like Beignets and More in the Parish. Yes, the “more” is Vietnamese food. The family refuses to change the name,
I also really like the one in Metairie by the waterbed store that looks like it used to be a nightclub. It’s one of the few ones left in my orbit that has that Vietnamese beef stew served with French bread .
Singletons on a Saturday is bangin. My sister in law is Vietnamese (born and raised there) and she loves it. After eating our way across Vietnam with her a few years ago, I tend to agree.
I'm a big fan of the tripe and tendon. Pho Tau Bay always had them. Some of the hipper places don't. Would love more options for that, particularly in Metairie near work.

Technically not in Nola but Beignets and More in Chalmette is my go to one. Those Rangoon are so good I could cry and they are generous with their portions.
And the name is a funny deflect! They actually do have them waaaay on the bottom of the menu
OP asked for favorites and that happens to be mine, but yeah I'm sure there's plenty of better pho around. I've never met the owner as far as I'm aware.
Pho bang on the Westbank express is my family’s favorite, both of my parents being Vietnamese refugees, for what that’s worth.
Also almost full of all Vietnamese on Sundays after mass at the nearby Vietnamese church.
lilly's isn't quite as clear/refined as other broths, it's a bit cloudier, i prefer that but from my white boy understanding isn't as typical i think? lilly's is my spot. i like le's baguette on dryades too. sure there's prob better places but its convenient and the banh mi is vvvv good. I'll get the small pho and a banh mi instead of a big bowl alone.
It doesn't exist anymore because my aunt passed away but her house. She used to use a whole damn turkey along with what I'm sure were dinosaur bones. The pot looked like a witch's cauldron. It was made with decades of experience and all the love one person can put into it for all her children, which is how she saw all of us.
A distant second place, I'll go with Pho Tau Bay in New Orleans and Tan Dinh on the West Bank for 3rd.
Beignets and More. Anytime I visit my family, I make sure to stop there. Some of the best pho I have ever had. The family that owns it is so sweet. They have seen me on some of my most hungover days LOL
Pho bang on manhattan for consistency and quality of meat. But if I’m in the mood for bun Bo hue I go to august moon or pho orchid. If I want kalbi with rice I go to tan Dinh
Im enjoying some leftovers from Pho House (formerly Doson Noodle House) on Carrollton. Seems like a nothing place and is surprisingly good. They just added the rare beef pho to the menu. And the bun is way more than the standard pile of noodles and little pile of side salad.
It isnt traditional pho whatsoever, but The Hangover II at MoPho is fire. The meat is completely different from traditional meats and they are made in house. It is really hardy and generous portions.
Other than that I like Pho Orchid, and the price is really reasonable.
RIP Pho Cam Ly. I’ll never get over it.
holy cow I didn't know other people felt the same way!! I loved that place so much. for the longest time it made me sad to drive past the building.
RIP. Ill never be able to watch Judge Judy again. So sad.
EVER.
Was about to post this. I got it once or twice a week the entire time they were open. I wish I liked Lilly’s …
Lily's broth is too heavy on the anise.
I find everything at Lilly’s a bit heavy/ greasy. That’s sort of the opposite I’m going for when I crave Vietnamese food. Pho Cam Ly was really in a league of their own.
I know, it's a travesty that they closed.
The pork spring rolls with avocado were the best thing ever. I’m still sad they’re gone.
Yessss I still have dreams about Pho Cam Ly, best Pho I’ve ever had
Those ladies at Pho Cam Ly have seen me at my most hungover worst!
YES. THE ABSOLUTE BEST
Pho Bang under the westbank expressway has the best broth. Nudo in Metairie has the best beef.
Pho bang, while not necessarily perfectly consistent in exact flavor/composition, is absolutely uniform in the fact that every location I’ve been to is excellent. I suggest everyone locate their closest pho bang and try it, if you haven’t.
Ohhh thanks!!
Second Pho Bang. Place is so freaking good.
I just heard about Nudu recently. I'll have to check it out! And broth is my favorite component of a pho.
And they have the best rangoons in the city.
Yep I like it way better than the one on Manhattan.
I used to ride or die for Lilly’s but I think Pho Tran has taken the # 1 spot in my heart lately
Yes pho tran is the spot. I feel like it’s one of the most underrated places in the city
Pho Tran is truly legit
My friend told me the same thing!
I’m still team Lilly for the Bun, but Pho Tran converted me for their Bahn Mi. It’s absolutely killer.
Pho Tran's grilled pork is so good
Tan Dinh
Lemongrass chicken wings there are incredible. The pho is decent.
All of their food is amazing. I love their spring rolls especially. Lately I’ve also been getting their shrimp curry and it is absolutely fire!
Their goi cuon is pretty good, but the peanut sauce really puts them over the top. Or anything else you slather it on. I don't know what's going on with that stuff, but it's fuckin' incredible.

Agree to disagree. Also, everytime I go the place is at least 1/4 full and at least 80% of the diners are Vietnamese.
Yeah, my Vietnamese friends would all disagree. I was also just in Vietnam and can say it's absolutely comparable.
Hard agree.
pho bang in metairie❗️
This is the way
Those are solid choices. I also like Beignets and More in the Parish. Yes, the “more” is Vietnamese food. I believe Pho Orchid on Houma in Metry has the beef stew with French bread
yes! Beignets and More! Literally the sweetest family too!
Singletons on a Saturday is bangin. My sister in law is Vietnamese (born and raised there) and she loves it. After eating our way across Vietnam with her a few years ago, I tend to agree.
This comment is wayyyyy too low
Fr and during the summer the fair weather phokers arent there to sell them out by 11. Always get the bone!
Frostys and pho bang are my top tiers
LOVE FROSTYS
Nine Roses and Thanh Lien on the West Bank, Mint on the East Bank.
Kim Anh's Noodle House
Same. Not saying it's the best, but it's quite good and close. I'm in there a couple times a month.
Used to be my fave
Will put it in my short list! Thanks.
The West Bank is the land of the plenty. So many great suggestions already listed!
Beignets & More on Judge Perez in Chalmette has decent pho and a great bahn mi
The best Vietnamese coffee I’ve ever had. Seriously
Love pho bang and tan Dinh, but frosty’s has the real fruit smoothies with boba. The one on cleary, West Bank location doesn’t have pho.
I've had a lot of pho, albeit not many new places recently - I like Pho Nola the most now. Pho orchid (on Veterans Blvd) is my second
Pho Nola
I'm a big fan of the tripe and tendon. Pho Tau Bay always had them. Some of the hipper places don't. Would love more options for that, particularly in Metairie near work.

I enjoy Pho Orchid! 🍲⚜️
Le’s Baguette is the best pho in New Orleans. Lilly’s is a close second. Mint is gross.
Le’s is so good. And it’s the only Pho place I’ve found that grills the steak
They lightly fry the tofu in the veggie pho. It’s perfect. Plus the family is so friendly and knows regulars by name.
I’ve only been about a dozen times over the past maybe 9 months and they know me. They seem so nice
I looove Le’s Baguette!

Ba Mien is tops in my book, too. Worth the drive, just call to make sure they are open first. Pho Bang on Chef and W Bank also solid
Technically not in Nola but Beignets and More in Chalmette is my go to one. Those Rangoon are so good I could cry and they are generous with their portions. And the name is a funny deflect! They actually do have them waaaay on the bottom of the menu

Lily’s on magazine!
Jazmine's Cafe. I also love their spring rolls and the clear soup.
I used to love that place then got food poisoning from there.
Pho bang on the Westbank express is my family’s favorite, both of my parents being Vietnamese refugees, for what that’s worth. Also almost full of all Vietnamese on Sundays after mass at the nearby Vietnamese church.
Pho Tran on Magazine has a killer Bun pork specifically
I miss Pho Hoa. Mopho has always been trash sorry not sorry

Pho House in Kenner. Their broth is top notch. Good quality meat. And ox tail too. Best pho around these parts
I only go to Pho Orchid. Buddy's family owns it, great food and great people.
Pho Nola in Metairie ☝️
It doesn't exist anymore because my aunt passed away but her house. She used to use a whole damn turkey along with what I'm sure were dinosaur bones. The pot looked like a witch's cauldron. MoPho, agreed that not traditional but, definitely took a nosedive

I need fresh spring rolls with marinated meat
I love Lily's Cafe, their strawberry springrolls give me life force
Pho bang, used to like pho orchid but service is bad
Jazmine cafe. The spicy lemongrass noodle soup. I like to add dumplings. The spicy tuna spring rolls are my favorite food item ever.
Singleton's
Pho Bang on Veterans Blvd. in Metairie. In the same strip center as Casa Garcia restaurant and across Veterans from the Academy Sporting goods.
I like rolls and bowls
Pho Tran all day
It isnt traditional pho whatsoever, but The Hangover II at MoPho is fire. The meat is completely different from traditional meats and they are made in house. It is really hardy and generous portions. Other than that I like Pho Orchid, and the price is really reasonable.
Surprised no one mention Pho Ga Quang Minh on Barataria… per the name, they specialize in pho ga, and it is 🔥. Also a killer roast duck noodle soup.
Namese was the absolute best prior to closing down.
MINT on Freret
