We've been saying it to my son since he was born. He's now 9 months and this morning I heard him say "goo"..we are getting close to good morning. I'm very happy.
My 8 month old wakes me up fussing, however when I walk in and say Hiiiiiiii babyyyy, he reaches and lunges towards me giggling. Being a parent is the best.
Up until my son was 7-8 months he would hear my husband sneeze from all the way across the house upstairs, it was super faint, and he would STILL burst into tears 😂
My baby used to hate her Dad's sneezing, so I made fake sneezing sounds at her as a game. She thinks everyone's sneezes are funny now, including her own. Her 3 sisters helped with the sneezing game, so now when she sneezes she looks for one of us to smile at because she did the funny thing.
That story really warmed my heart today and got me excited to help beautiful things happen like this. From grump to smiles over something silly? Seems like a joy of ever changing life. All props to you! Don't forget you can praise yourself or look at your happy children when you need it- you made that shit happen! Good job. I'm proud of parents like you
My husband and I do exactly the same thing! Little one used to cry so much at every sneeze so we ended up going “achoo! Achoo!” In a silly voice, and now we’re stuck doing that forever. I feel like I do it so much I’ll end up doing it whilst I’m out somewhere without him. Tbh I love it because he gives the biggest smiles after a shocked face every time. I also have to pretend blow my nose after every real nose blow for the same reason. He’s a sensitive soul 🥹
Glad to hear Im not the only one whose baby bursts into tears at sneezes (hes 10 months old now and will do sad annoyed face and maybe some puckering if in a good mood before the sneeze; complete meltdown if he is already tired or cranky :(.
Everytime our baby sneezes or coughs, we say "Oh Dear!!" very dramatically, and he laughs. So now if he's about to sneeze or cough, he'll look around for us making sure he's going to get a reaction 😂 And he occasionally fakes a cough for it too!
My girl gave me her first big open-mouth smile one morning around 5 weeks when I dabbed her milky chin after a feed lol she's 4 months now & the dab-dab-dabbing still cracks her up every time!! Lol Lately she also loves when I bring her to a mirror and gasp and say 'hello babyyyyyy!!', even if she was fussy a moment before, it always gets a chuckle xD
Rofl. I felt this comment deeply. The other day my husband was sitting down on the couch. Staring at his phone. Our 10 month old kept looking at him and giggling hysterically. Husband never looked up or even noticed. Didnt seem to bother our baby, he just kept looking at him and giggling and babbling away at him without him even noticing. I was like, "what is wrong with you?! I have to work so hard for that level of delight and engagement from him, and you don't even notice?!." (This is not a husband bashing comment; he's a great dad. Just a ... this situation is unfair haha.)
Oh I feel this. His daddy walked in the room and started talking to me and this boy was straight up belly laughing. I'm lucky if I get a little chuckle
- Whenever I sing her the good morning song (same one my dad used to sing to me).
- blowing raspberries at her/on her feet
- chomping her neck/cheeks
- when Daddy gets home from work
- calling her a pretty girl in the mirror
Flying him around like a fighter jet, letting him shake his pecan tree, chomping on his neck, tapping his chest and saying his name then tapping mine and saying "mama".
“Fruit salad, yummy yummy! Fruit salad, yummy yummy! Yummy yummy yummy yummy fruit salaaaaaad!” I think its from The Wiggles. She’s only 3.5 months old and really digs my terrible voice.
My girl is almost 9 weeks. She’s not interactive yet but whenever she sees either of us after we’re away for a while she stares and does an open mouth smile for a while. We sleep in shifts currently so we get to see it quite a bit. She’s been doing that for two weeks now.
Awww so cute! I believe very soon (like in the next 1-2 weeks!) your sweet baby girl will become interactive and it will be sooooo exciting for you! You can try to mimic her sounds (like aaa oooo whatever she does), then wait for her to make a new sound, again mimic, and so on. I had full-on “conversations” like this with my son at 2 months old and it was soooo sweet! I read that it makes babies feel seen, heard and validated and like they matter, and it makes them happy and helps the bond. Ahhh sweet memories!
My dogs. We got a mean-looking border collie with one blue eye that scares everyone who visits, and my baby girl just loves her. She just has to walk by and makes her laugh. Her first ever laugh was when our doggie barked (loudly).
Also. Blowing air on her toes (?!) works wonders haha
Our baby gets an uncontrollable belly laugh anytime we lean really close to her and then stand up or back away very quickly. Our faces must look funny zooming in and out
Getting sung to on the changing table, and just the changing table in general. She loves going to get a clean diaper, and even better when I sing her the 'clean the butt' song lol
'Eating' her. Any body part; it doesn't matter the level of the tantrum, she finds it fucking hilarious getting her feet/hands/elbow eaten. I have done a nappy change with her foot in my mouth before 😂.
Our LO is 13weeks and his favorite “words” right now are woooooo and hoooo. If you say that to him with a big cheesy smile, he breaks into a huge gummy grin and says them back to you.
We have a 30 second video of her laughing. She can be in the midst of a full on meltdown and that video will stop the tears in their tracks for the entire 31 seconds it lasts and then they’ll start up again 😂
So many things, I'm so lucky!
When I smooch his feet; When I smooch his cheek right by his nose; Eye contact with Mom or Dad; "Talking" with him (Agoo! Gah! Oooooh!); Looking at himself in the mirror; Waking him up in the morning
We're in the depths of the 4 month sleep regression and it's rough. I love this thread, thank you 🙂
When we growl at her haha it started as a little joke that my husband would growl at her and now it’s one of her favorite things that we do. She smiles and starts laughing so hard when we do it.
Only downside is when she is around dogs we will have to teach her that growling is not a good thing lol
"Bonk."
She head butted me once when she was little, then did it again when I said "bonk" in response, which made me laugh and she never forgot.
Now it's a form of greeting between us. She can't go to sleep at night without a hug, a high five, and a bonk.
Putting my fist up and patting her with them like I’m punching while saying “pew pew pew pew” 😂 or taking her feet and kicking me in the face with them while saying “pew pew pew pew”
When my dog jumps on the bed to say hi in the morning when I’m waking my daughter up. She really loves to see Elsa and just wants to pat her. Elsa is the dog btw, border collie. My daughter likes her more than Seven (older male border collie) because Elsa tries to interact with her.
My natural hair is curly and when it's a little long I can shake my head forward and backwards and it 'floofs' around. And my little guy thought it was hilarious, even a year later it'll still get him. The latest thing is taking a wet facecloth and splatting it on the shower wall during bath time.
Just talking to my 5 month old, people she loves get kicky legs when they talk to her as well as a huge smile but strangers also get such a big smile without fail 😍
Literally any word with "oop" in it; poop, loop, coop, oop, stoop, troop, he thinks is hysterical. I think it started with him finding the word and reality of poop funny. He's obsessed with chorus of TSwifts "Shake it Off" (players gonna play-play-play-play and haters gonna hate-hate-hate-hate-hate), the repetition makes him giggle hysterically. It was my least favorite Swift song but now it is very valued because it always works 😆. A made up song: "bounce-y, bounce, y-bouncy bouncy Kayden" that we sing while bouncing him. That one works 99.9 percent of the time - the bouncing only works to cheer him if paired with the song 😆.
When we say good morning and when we turn on her light (she is at the point she plays in her crib for about 20 minutes after she wakes up) singing wheels on the bus and rasberries
She smiles every time I use the nose frida to suck boogers out of her nose. The first time I used it she had this huge gross booger dangling from her nose and the most adorable grin lol
mine gets the biggest smile on his face when we say in the ms rachel tone “mamaaaaa?” (i started saying that to him in the newborn phase on a daily basis before i finally gave in to letting him watch her) but now he also gets a big ass smile when he hears/sees her do it in her videos as well.
he also smiles big when i’m changing his poopy diaper, and in the highest pitch squeak i go “your such a poopy baaaaayyyyyybieeeeeee!! your SUCH a POOPY BAAAAYYYYYYBIEEEEE!!!!” lol
Baking her butt with a diaper then bopping the top of her head lol she just thinks that is the funniest thing in the world
Or when I make her stuffies violently mooch her all over her face lol
I wouldn't say without fail but I'm trying to teach my 13 week old vowels sounds so I keep saying them over and over again... "Ah" "Eh"... And he smiles so widely each time. We're just waiting for when that smile is accompanied by a giggle.
Making the motorboat sound with my lips while wiggling his lips as if he’s making the sound! I can’t think of a better way to describe it 😂😂 but he always smiles/giggles when I do it!
He is extremely ticklish. I ask him what he's having for lunch and tell him I'm going to have baby riblets while making chomping sounds and tickling him with my face.
The sweetest is when he wakes up in the morning and we say “Gooodddd morningggg” in a high pitch voice 🥹
Oh yes, the biggest smiles, I love getting her up in the morning 🥰
Me too! 5am diaper changes and he’s all gums smiling and cooing
I have a good morning song that my 7mo loves. Plus it makes me less upset that we're up before 6.
Keep that up! \ My toddler wakes us up with the same good morning song I sang for months, it's the sweetest thing 😭🤍
What morning song? That’s the sweetest thing!
I just made it up. It's a riff on whatever my mom used to sing me 😀
We do this except I even say it when she wakes up from a nap - even if it’s at 3pm 😂😂
same, we say good moooooorning, every time he wakes up hahah.
omg us too! hahahah glad it’s not just us
Same. 😂
We've been saying it to my son since he was born. He's now 9 months and this morning I heard him say "goo"..we are getting close to good morning. I'm very happy.
Ours 4 mo and he hums us back 😄🥰
This is my answer too! I love the baby stretches and big smile!!!
My 8 month old wakes me up fussing, however when I walk in and say Hiiiiiiii babyyyy, he reaches and lunges towards me giggling. Being a parent is the best.
Omg this is so accurate, it’s cute that we do this to our LO and the first thing they do is give us a Big ol Smile
We do the same thing!
This!!! No matter what mood he’s in from bedtime/a nap 🥹
My sneeze. That's why, whenever I'm about to sneeze, I rush to him so he can laugh.
😂 Meanwhile, my baby looks deeply offended every time I sneeze.
I love this replacement behavior you created for her comfort. Great job parent!
Damn, nothing like props from an internet stranger to make you realize how badly you need a little praise!
That story really warmed my heart today and got me excited to help beautiful things happen like this. From grump to smiles over something silly? Seems like a joy of ever changing life. All props to you! Don't forget you can praise yourself or look at your happy children when you need it- you made that shit happen! Good job. I'm proud of parents like you
Oh yeah he always liked fake sneezes but the loud dad sneeze couldn’t ever be tolerated 🤣
Glad to hear Im not the only one whose baby bursts into tears at sneezes (hes 10 months old now and will do sad annoyed face and maybe some puckering if in a good mood before the sneeze; complete meltdown if he is already tired or cranky :(.
Lol same, sneezes get a very cute sad face from my baby.
Everytime our baby sneezes or coughs, we say "Oh Dear!!" very dramatically, and he laughs. So now if he's about to sneeze or cough, he'll look around for us making sure he's going to get a reaction 😂 And he occasionally fakes a cough for it too!
My son just started with the fake coughing too.. hilarious!
He puts it on even more around Grandma! 😂
Mine loves this too! She thinks it is even more funny when I call her a “princess with royal treatment” in a high pitch lol
I ALWAYS do the “dab dab dab dab dab” and he giggles like crazy 🥹
Hahaha I love it!! Absolutely intoxicating ❤️ Especially when they're still all drooly & milky, just laughin' it up 😂
Ours too! He loves it… I make a high pitch Beep Beep Beep Beep, while Im doing it. Biggest smiles 🥰
Lol yes!!! I make exaggerated beep boop noises too, always cracks her up! Haha so cuuuuute! ❤️
When I try to “eat” his feet lol
For mine it’s when I rub my nose against his feet! At first I thought he was ticklish but he just seems to find my nose funny 😂
Any ceiling lamp..
My kiddo is a huge fan of fans, ceiling fans that is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My baby’s first smile was directed at the ceiling fan 😂
Same lol
We call all the ceiling fans her "#1 fan"
Munching the baby neck or baby ribs
Add some baby toes and you've got a full course meal
His Daddy walking into the room, or me smiling at him in the mirror.
Mirrors and dad are no fails here, too
Ours just started smiling but it’s on another level when he sees his momma. Totally adorable.
Always smiles at dad!
When we say "agoooo!" (Her favourite thing to say).
lmao yep we have agooooo conversations back and forth forever.
Lol yeah my LO says agoo and then blows raspberries and loves it when I copy both
My son's, too!! Just agoo babies here. He grins so big ❤️
Hahah mine loves to say “agigigi” and loves it even more when we say it back.
Yeyyyy we have an “Agoooo” baby too. We decided it’s his way of saying “I love you” hahaha
This is our girls favorite word too! She loves when we just repeat it back and forth.
My husband, looking at him with zero expression at all. Meanwhile I'm the house jester over here and that boy makes me *work* for those smiles. 😮💨
SAME! I feel like a clown trying to get a smile when his dad’s getting full belly laughs for just existing.
Rofl. I felt this comment deeply. The other day my husband was sitting down on the couch. Staring at his phone. Our 10 month old kept looking at him and giggling hysterically. Oh I feel this. His daddy walked in the room and started talking to me and this boy was straight up belly laughing. I'm lucky if I get a little chuckle
Opening and closing the blinds lol
Yes! What's up with that? After naps or in the morning when i open the blinds, baby is smiling from ear to ear.
Glad he’s not the only kid! Haha. My son always wakes up unhappy and opening his blinds is usually the first thing he smiles at … not me, of course😂
- Whenever I sing her the good morning song (same one my dad used to sing to me). - blowing raspberries at her/on her feet - chomping her neck/cheeks - when Daddy gets home from work - calling her a pretty girl in the mirror
This is on a constant loop in my brain lol 😂
This has been an earworm since I first heard it as a recording in a toy while babysitting...probably 20 years ago!
Her dad 😂
Literally, just my husband's existence is all it takes to light up her day 😂
My girl is almost 9 weeks. She’s not interactive yet but whenever she sees either of us after we’re away for a while she stares and does an open mouth smile for a while. We sleep in shifts currently so we get to see it quite a bit. She’s been doing that for two weeks now.

( . ) ( . )
For a while this was us and I fully embraced it by making them “dance” while singing my milkshake to her while “preparing her buffet”
You gotta do whatever you gotta do when preparing the house white!
The house white is the best term I’ve ever heard for breast milk. Bravo
It’s that or succumb to the sleep deprivation
when i pretend to sneeze after her, so funny when mama does it apparently, my baby is 1 year
THE CLAW!
My LO start smiling last week (6 weeks old now) and so far he smiles at any sentence with the word mommy in it <3
My dogs. We got a mean-looking border collie with one blue eye that scares everyone who visits, and my baby girl just loves her. She just has to walk by and makes her laugh. Her first ever laugh was when our doggie barked (loudly). Also. Blowing air on her toes (?!) works wonders haha

When I sing his name in the tone that I've always used with him since day 1 of coming home 🤗
The song Skinnamarink. Works every single time.
Oh wow, you just woke up a long dead neuron. Going to go sing that to my baby right now…
Telling him how cute he is. And also listing off random vegetables in a high-pitched voice
When she passes Gas
Our dog. Literally him just sitting there. If she looks at him for more than 5 seconds she busts up laughing 😂
'Eating' her. Any body part; it doesn't matter the level of the tantrum, she finds it fucking hilarious getting her feet/hands/elbow eaten. I have done a nappy change with her foot in my mouth before 😂.

I blink twice while saying “point point!”, like a surprised cartoon character who just took their glasses off 💕💕💕
"Do you have some secrets you need to reveal?" lol idk why but he always smiles so big like he knows something I don't.
1. cat 2. me making "bluehh" sound 3. food
When 8 tell him "no" or "yucky" when he's about to put something in his mouth that he shouldn't. It's a problem
We have a 30 second video of her laughing. She can be in the midst of a full on meltdown and that video will stop the tears in their tracks for the entire 31 seconds it lasts and then they’ll start up again 😂

Neck kisses and when I make a “click” sound w/my mouth! Baby is very interested in copying that sound hehe
Saying I love you with a big smile and kissing his hand And daddy says Habschoo and he smiles as well
38 weeks and a few days. I imagine waking me up in the middle of the night tap dancing on my cervix is what currently makes my baby smile 😮💨🙃
When we growl at her haha it started as a little joke that my husband would growl at her and now it’s one of her favorite things that we do. She smiles and starts laughing so hard when we do it. Only downside is when she is around dogs we will have to teach her that growling is not a good thing lol

Seeing my nipple. It elicits a full out giggle.

Lately the word “oboe” gets all the smiles/chuckles
Snuffling her tummy and neck
Literally any word with "oop" in it; poop, loop, coop, oop, stoop, troop, he thinks is hysterical. I think it started with him finding the word and reality of poop funny.
