They said the same thing about Sri Lanka. A big manufacturing and trading partner with the US. Believe it or not, the IMF was lobbied to let the country default because of high interest rates and it would have been better to just let the economy collapse so they could get better trade deals
The US is involved though. Exxon Mobil has their claws deep in this nation and they do not like these investor unfriendly policies.
They also are one of the biggest lobbyists to the US government which also pretty much has major power in directing IMF bailouts

I’m surprised most Nigerians do not understand that the USA and British government are part of the reason why our country is in such a deep mess. The new CBN governor initiated an idea to tinubu about banning all bureau de change to save the naira, that same week the info leaked from so rock and all of a sudden the secretary of the government of the united states was in so rock having a meeting with Tinubu, obviously threatening him with his case with fbi and his second term agenda. If we think Nigeria will get better we go wait until Jesus Christ returns
Well, basically we just exclaim and move on. If you can find your way to a society that works though, please do. I used to be against the Japa syndrome but now that I've seen the extent to which the nation has degenerated, I don't blame anyone for leaving.
