Yeah this 100%, when she was Samurai X she was able to be strong and hold her own without having any special powers or anything, making her a Ninja undermined all her development over the previous seasons and felt like it was only done to service that seasons plot and to throw in a cheap twist
I feel mixed about Nya being a ninja. On one hand I think Samurai X suited Nya better as she got to forge her own destiny and all that, but on the other hand I think I see why the writers decided to change that. I feel like considering Nya is the only girl of the team, having her be a different rank than the boys might send some messages about boys and girls not being able to do the same things, so the writers just decided to make her one of the main ninja in order to achieve gender equality or something. That or the writers wanted to use Nya more often, I don't know, I'm just speculating here.
Or maybe they could have just, idk, brought in a new female character as the water ninja? If they were just doing it for gender equality sake that would have made more sense.

Not really, Skybound was about their romantic relationship as much as it was about Jay or Nya individually, plus Hands of Times focused a ton in their sibling dynamic and their relationship with their parents
Lloyd. I mean I appreciated him in the early seasons of Ninjago, but now he's just an unfunny dude who loses constantly. He and the CW Flash aren't so different, they lose constantly and end up beating the bad guy eventually. Plus, his new voice actor is just... not for me. Overall, Lloyd is just not in my top tier list for favourite Ninjago characters. He's unfunny, annoying to see on screen, and didn't deserve to be the Green Ninja.
I don't like kai post-season 7 because they made him (alongside Jay) a lot goofier. He lost all character development and just became a background character in all honesty. The most important character arc he's had is just losing his powers and realizing he can still help (only to get his powers back anyway). Thankfully, through teaching Wyldfire, we finally get to see a more serious side to kai for the first time in a while. I'm really hoping that Dragons Rising continues to build upon the characters that have been ruined over time
Sora and Arin, they just added random characters? I don't support how they shift the storyline, this started with the Island, and now it feels like they ran out of ideas

I started watching Dragons Rising a bit ago, and stopped abruptly for some reason, but I dropped dead at >!Kai's spot-on impression of Wu. It was even funnier for me, because in me and my siblings' Ninjago Fandub, my sister voiced both Kai and Wu.!<

Except Ninjago is not like most shows in the sense that they have full seasons that supposedly focus on someone of the main cast, the WildBrain era had 1 for each character (With half of s11 for Kai and half for Zane) but only 2 of the seasons are really focused on the poster one instead of Lloyd, this was also a problem before s10 but not nearly as noticeable

I loved his character before the movie. Then he got freckles, and everything went downhill. I also geel like his and Nya's relationship is more focused on then the relationship between Kai and Nya. Jay was also a mechanic at the start, a very cool trait if his that was just dropped. And another thing, his voice. It became so child-like. In the start it was great, but overtime it became so exaggerated.
I love all the Ninja and I would replace or remove any of them. But, I do think it might have been better if Nya stayed as Samurai X. I loved her being a Ninja in skybound and that whole ark with her and Jay. But her becoming a Ninja did kind of feel like bs. There definitely were better ways they could have handled her character.

Don't really dislike any, or least favourite. Hard to have favourite also. Except....Kai....😍 lol But least favourite? If I HAD to pick, I guess redesign Lloyd. I liked kid Lloyd, and even older Lloyd from previous version better. I don't dislike Lloyd, I just I like redesign Lloyd a bit less. Something about his personality is just different. I’m going to get hate for this but Lloyd. All of his character development from when he was a kid to when he grew up was purposefully skipped, he has the least personality and is always treated like he’s the most important one out of all of them because of his chosen one arc in season 2. There was really some potential to make him a much more darker character but that never came.
Jay, mostly because they stripped away almost all of his defining characteristics and the writers' belief that he can only shine if all of the other Ninjas are gone.
Jay has always been my least favourite ninja (yes even in the early seasons) and the most annoying too. He's rude, overdramatic, self centered, immature, yells a lot and says stupid and unnecessary things. He gets on my nerves the most and I especially hate it when he's rude to or yells at Zane who's the one that least deserves being rude to, like just stfu Jay. Can't stand how everyone loves him so much (pre triggered Jay fans) and his fans in general are the most annoying along with Kai's. Nya is also a close second least favourite, I find her annoying too and the show focuses on her too much later on. I don't really care for their relationship that much either. Favourite ninja is Zane though and always will be.

to be real, its gotta be kai the last "kai" season was hands of time but if you want to get even more real the last kai season where he didnt have to share his spotlight was tournament of elements and you could argue the pilots since in season 3 cole also has his moments, they just havent done much with him even his family drama got immediatly ~~fixed~~ transferred to nya in seabound

Kai- I guess Kai would be my least favorite. He just doesn't do much as of recently. He also kind of just turned into a second comedy relief character. Obviously every ninja is allowed to be funny, but humor was never Kai's main thing. Dragons Rising is addressing this so that gives me optimism.
Zane-this one pains me to put here. I wish I had more to do for the team than be 'the robot'.
Lloyd- not much to be mad about except him in Crystalized didn't have many brain cells.
Jay- I think I'm still holding on to Jay in the wilfilm era to justify him being this high.(also we have the same name so I'm biased). But dude used to be funny. He was funny not stupid. Also idk if anyone had pointed this out but his voice gets much higher throughout the series. People forget this, but Jay is a mechanic. He designed the boosters for the bounty so it can fly with the help of his dad.
Nya- probably the best arc in the show going from a damsel in distress- >samurai x->water ninja was crazy. Also out of the ninja she might have the best control over her power. Also her and Jay are so cute.
Cole- perfect character. Had remained consistent in a good way. The only time hits character was annoying was in season 3 with the love triangle. Other than that, he is the heart of the group, and I love him for that
as for Arin, Sora, Wildfyre and Riyu we'll see as the show continues. So far I like them all.
Zane. I feel like recently his character’s been very one-note. I feel like he really needed a real focus season in the newer era that he just never got.
After season 10 and before dragons rising Kai was my least favorite but now he is AWESOME🔥. Now tho... I'd have to say Zane❄️. I like him I just think the other ninja are better. It's either him or nya 🌊
Lloyd. They gave him too much character so now he has none. If they thought of a character trope, they added it to Lloyd. Now he feels like an attempt to stay relevant, and although I love him as a character, he doesn’t have the same personality, slowly becoming a one-note action hero.

He's rude, overdramatic, self centered, immature, yells a lot and says stupid and unnecessary things. He gets on my nerves the most and I especially hate it when he's rude to or yells at Zane who's the one that least deserves being rude to, like just stfu Jay. Can't stand how everyone loves him so much (pre triggered Jay fans) and his fans in general are the most annoying along with Kai's. Nya is also a close second least favourite, I find her annoying too and the show focuses on her too much later on. I don't really care for their relationship that much either. Favourite ninja is Zane though and always will be.
The fact that I've been called funny, but also annoying many times is probably why I relate to Jay so much lol 😅

I don't really have any of them but I have nitpicks with each one Kai- I guess Kai would be my least favorite. He just doesn't do much as of recently. He also kind of just turned into a second comedy relief character. Obviously every ninja is allowed to be funny, but humor was never Kai's main thing. Dragons Rising is addressing this so that gives me optimism. Zane-this one pains me to put here. I wish I had more to do for the team than be 'the robot'. Lloyd- not much to be mad about except him in Crystalized didn't have many brain cells. Jay- I think I'm still holding on to Jay in the wilfilm era to justify him being this high.(also we have the same name so I'm biased). But dude used to be funny. He was funny not stupid. Also idk if anyone had pointed this out but his voice gets much higher throughout the series. People forget this, but Jay is a mechanic. He designed the boosters for the bounty so it can fly with the help of his dad. Nya- probably the best arc in the show going from a damsel in distress- >samurai x->water ninja was crazy. Also out of the ninja she might have the best control over her power. Also her and Jay are so cute. Cole- perfect character. Had remained consistent in a good way. The only time hits character was annoying was in season 3 with the love triangle. Other than that, he is the heart of the group, and I love him for that as for Arin, Sora, Wildfyre and Riyu we'll see as the show continues. So far I like them all.
Zane. I feel like recently his character’s been very one-note. I feel like he really needed a real focus season in the newer era that he just never got.

Lloyd. They gave him too much character so now he has none. If they thought of a character trope, they added it to Lloyd. Now he feels like an attempt to stay relevant, and although I love him as a character, he doesn’t have the same personality, slowly becoming a one-note action hero.
