Zane. He's been the same since rebooted and the only thay has changed is his appearance. Or Jay, he's become a static character, but with dragons rising they are rounding him out a bit.
My vote is for Jay
>vote for the worst **written** character
Unfortunately, favoritism will prevail over critical sense from now on. I mean... not that it wasn't before... but now that it's just the Ninja and Garmadon, that's going to be more than evident.
As I said, I recognize that Lloyd stole the spotlight from the other Ninja sometimes, but I think it's fair to consider at least the Oni trilogy and seasons 2-4 as a justifiable spotlight on the character.
I don't understand why jay is still here he fell off in the newer seasons, while lloyd is the same in crystalivzed, he has risen again in dragons rising
Atleast Nya can hold her own without her powers in some fights in dragons rising, even saying it herself when fighting the 2 ghosts with sora that they're more than just their powers.
I'll say this though i wanna see a scene where Nya learns her lessons from crystalized and realizes that she could have done better that time.
I’m genuinely surprised Garmadon’s made it this far considering how many ridiculous moments he’s had as the series progressed. There are so many times that he just does something for absolutely no reason other than to be the villain of the season.
Wait, so people are voting rn who the least badly written character is out of the ones left, right? Otherwise it would make no sense lmao cause the first character that was voted out would've been the winner of the worst written one. And if people are voting who the worst one is among these, then the ones that stay are surely less bad, and then the next voting makes no sense, as the worst character would be the one that was chosen in the first post..... ughh
So like.... isn't the vote over in the first post? They already voted for the worst character there xd it makes no sense, unless it's like "vote for the least badly written character" and the one that's left at the end is the worst written one... you see, it makes no sense this way
Each time you vote for the worst written one. Each round, as the voting progresses the next character that gets out will be better written than the one that got out before him...I don't understand what you don't get.
Ha, so as I said, the whole voting is pretty much over in the first round! And the characters that get voted out later are better written than the previous ones, making the one that stays last - the best written character. Wasn't the vote supposed to be about the worst written character?
Unless, your goal from the beginning was to find the best written character out of these... which was not really made clear
I'm okay with Kai or Cole winning this. Cole cos he's just relatively liked and Kai because Dragons Rising has absolutely rectified what they did wrong to his character years ago.
Zane, after s4 he got no focus whatsoever, and his s11 arc was really bad and the biggest missed potential of the entire series (I am really happy that we are finally getting a proper evil ninja arc with Jay)
Jay. He has remained a static character for a while (about since Skybound). Though Dragon’s Rising is a good opportunity to do more with his character.
Zane
Ever since he was brought back in Tournament and overcame his fear of self-doubt, he has just been there. His relationship with Pixel is more character development for her than for him.
Zane. Especially recently but really after like hands of time when they switched the designs was when he leaned way too much into being a robot and had like no personality
Zane needs a big fat x that plot twist in season 1 was crazy I remember seeing that and being so surprised along with the elemental tournament were they try to save him after his sacrifice Zane needs a x
Yeah definitely Zane. He kinda lost all his impact after season four if I’m being honest. He dies so many times I think it just gets to the point of just being repetitive and very lazy.
Zane. He went from having a personality to ROBOT. I mean he still has personality but he still acts like the robot character. I missed his human personality
Nya, she’s had points that are written really well; But she also was really poorly written during Crystalized. Not all of the remaining characters have this issue as much as nya
Woah woah woah did we say Lloyd is the worst written of the main ninja???
He has so much massive character development over the seasons I can’t believe people would think that— I’m not coming into this biased, he’s my favorite *because* of that reason.
I mean going from little brat, to naïve little ninja, to suddenly sacrificing such a massive thing and becoming a teen, to dealing with life with and without his dad (dealing with loss), to becoming a master during wu’s absence, to having a first crush and having his heart broken and trust bashed, to learning that there were cases when people truly couldn’t be reasoned with, to overcoming and winning a fight with a master-level technique, to apply a situation no one would have thought of to save everyone (something he would NOT have been experienced enough to think of when younger), I could go on and on. Even currently in the show! Season 1 of dragons rising we learn about his struggles with “finding the calm inside” and dealing with the visions. As well as becoming a master and teaching multiple new ninja.
I don’t hate the others any less, I just think sometimes their writing has been sacrificed for other things (no, I don’t support or like that). Kai hasn’t been given much development for quite some time until recently, and once wildbrain took over Zane didn’t really develop anymore*. Cole had some great development in MotM and a little in the oni trilogy but not much before that. Jay didn’t have a lot after the oni trilogy aside from a little in seabound, (tho he had a lot in skybound, and I love the way he was written in hunted) and I’m not quite sure what they’re doing with him now. Nya… did actually have some consistent development throughout almost the entire WiFilm era, I’ll give her that. And in seabound too.
*I of course realize during the first few Wildbrain seasons no one really developed lmao, including lloyd— if anything they all regressed a little
(Garmadon… I can’t actually fault him he’s a fantastic character writing-wise. Literally the god of character development)
One more thing I love about Lloyd’s writing is that throughout everything that he’s gone through you can still see *him*. His “pure heart” and overly trusting nature— which he’s learned from but not lost. And he still has flaws. And I love that.
I know a lot of people don’t like Lloyd because he “hogs the screen” or “has too many focus seasons” and I don’t think that’s true. Sure, he gets seasons 2, 8, 10 definitely. But people who say possession or the ice chapter are his seasons are crazy. He’s mentioned a lot in possession. But he’s not the point of the season. He’s important in dragons rising season one because they’re trying to bring in new characters and he needs to fit the master arc. But the other ninja (well… still waiting for Jay.) have been getting more attention now in season 2. And so are the new ninja. Don’t look for Lloyd just to hate when you see him.
If this was a contest on most common favorites, I could see how Lloyd could realistically be out. But *quality of writing?* Not a chance. There’s bias galore there.
Nya. Simply on the fact that they've tried many times to develop her into a solid character & it's been a disaster on many of those occasions (I still like her tho)
Lol , She went from a ordinary girl working in a blacksmith shop to helping Lloyd defeat the SoG to merging with the ocean save Ninjago and his Yin to literally being a really good character in DR . She has had the best development after Lloyd .
Sure but I could force Fugi-Dove into those roles if I had a say in the show's decisions, wouldn't make him much better of a character.
Character development isn't just about what you watch them do, it's about watching them grow, develop & become better people. Good character development should make a human character feel real, with emotional depth, character flaws & then an interesting journey for the viewer to watch, understand, empaphise & grow to love.
Nya isn't really any of that. For a lot of the earlier seasons she feels like no more than the hot headed sister stereotype, which whilst based in true instances, doesn't really help for her to feel like a genuine human being, she's then revealed to be a mech piloting Vigilante Samurai, which sure lines up with the absurdity of the other characters, but not nearly as much. Even if the Ninja get swag real quick, there's still the logical explanation of them being trained under an experienced master. Nya helped out with running a blacksmith, that's her only experience. Samurai X was clearly a (very badass looking) stunt to keep her relevant. She then has one season of struggling to become the master of water, but is then flawless at it the next seasons (this criticism can be applied to all Ninja & it's not targeting her alone in this case). Give her a few seasons and she's already on the same level as the Ninja who have 5 seasons more experience than her, and then come to surpass a few of them later down the line.
Her personality is just as inconsistent as her journey. She goes from being the frustrated whiny type, to being the cool cocky girl, to being a hopeless romantic, to being a mix of the first two again, then only to seem to be angry at everyone and everything, only to suddenly be really chill, mellowed out & quite cool for it. There isn't fluidity or character moments that draw the bridges between these character types, she just flips like a switch. There isn't much backstory to set her journey, there isn't any one specific character flaw she ever learns to overcome & be better than. She's a fun character but undeniably one with many different faces, and one who's really taken her time to start feeling like a person
(Also I disagree on the fact that Lloyd is written well but that's not the topic)
Zane imo, he lost so much of his good character after season 3 and dies so many times.
Id argue after season 4
I was gonna say... to be fair when is he ever even there? He's almost always missing, dead, or malfunctioning.
He’s really cool but ima have to go with Zane
No pun intended right?
No pun intended
Zane I guess . Hasn't got any development since rebooted anyway .
I’d say since tournament, he had that whole arc of overcoming his fear of the dragon and accepting his new form in Tournament
The season where he first became titanium was the last time he had a good story
Zane. He's been the same since rebooted and the only thay has changed is his appearance. Or Jay, he's become a static character, but with dragons rising they are rounding him out a bit.
Not much to say, as I’m again voting Zane. That Lloyd is out really shouldn’t be a surprise, considering he was battling against Sora for survival.
Zane
Zane. For me he's just more of a fact machine than an actual person. I did like him before season 4 though
I’m so sorry but Zane my love you gotta go. He stopped being my favorite after season 5
Cole is gonna end up winning this, calling it now
Zane
Zane
I already know Cole is going to win because there are so many people that really like him.
Zane
My vote is for Jay >vote for the worst **written** character Unfortunately, favoritism will prevail over critical sense from now on. Well, Nya fell off in Crystalized too... but when we talk about development and character writing, Crystalized should never be considered.
I meant she fell off SPECIFICALLY in Crystalized.
i know
I’m genuinely surprised Garmadon’s made it this far considering how many ridiculous moments he’s had as the series progressed. There are so many times that he just does something for absolutely no reason other than to be the villain of the season.
I mean, he is the villain so he will do bad stuff
Yeah, but that stuff should still make sense for his character
Nya
Wow, I didn't expect Lloyd to get voted out already, thought he would be in the last 3 standing. I'm gonna have to vote out Zane
Jay. They changed him from the guy who comes up with wacky inventions to just a gamer and they haven't done hardly anything with him since Skybound.
>and they haven't done hardly anything with him since Skybound. Well they are atleast doing somthing with him now in Dragons Rising
Yes and honestly I'm loving it
Zane
Zane
zane ngl
Dang, sorry Zane. I love you but Kai and Cole are my favorites so you gotta go
Nvm again Zane
Zane

Yeah...that was the vote from the beginning but people vote based on their *preferences* and not the characters' character.
Okay, i mean i'm just asking if the vote is about the worst written character or the least badly written character, cause it kinda doesn't make sense
They are voting for the worst written character
So like.... isn't the vote over in the first post? They already voted for the worst character there xd it makes no sense, unless it's like "vote for the least badly written character" and the one that's left at the end is the worst written one... you see, it makes no sense this way

No? We are voting to decide who is the best written one.
F u guys it should be Garmadon then the six then the 4 ogs so my next vote is garmy
The amount of people voting for Zane, not COOL ![gif](giphy|IPJ1hyUlxGhUFrQlJX|downsized)
I’m sorry HOW is Lloyd out but jay isn’t? Jay should’ve been the first ninja out.
Jay. He has remained a static character for a while (about since Skybound). Though Dragon’s Rising is a good opportunity to do more with his character.
at some point, kai changed and became basically "the dumb one". hes gotten better but his writing was really hit or miss for a while there.
zane
Zane
I am a bit confused. Are we voting out the bad characters and the remaining are good lr the other way around
You vote for the worst written one so that we at the end get the best written one.
Ah ok
Zane.
Zane
Time for zane to go.
Lloyd.. fking for real here!!!! anyway next should be nya
Zane
Garmadon
Zane Ever since he was brought back in Tournament and overcame his fear of self-doubt, he has just been there. His relationship with Pixel is more character development for her than for him.
Kai
Zane
Zane
Zane. Especially recently but really after like hands of time when they switched the designs was when he leaned way too much into being a robot and had like no personality
Nya
Zane is my favorite but they ruined him to be honest.
garmadon
zane bcs he does nothing and just factchecks
Nya
Garmedon
Zane
Zane, all the other options are gone already.
Zane needs a big fat x that plot twist in season 1 was crazy I remember seeing that and being so surprised along with the elemental tournament were they try to save him after his sacrifice Zane needs a x
Nya
Dayum the leader of the ninja taken out first before the rest of the team.
Zane
Yeah definitely Zane. He kinda lost all his impact after season four if I’m being honest. He dies so many times I think it just gets to the point of just being repetitive and very lazy.
I'm going have to go with garmadon
Zane. He went from having a personality to ROBOT. I mean he still has personality but he still acts like the robot character. I missed his human personality
Zane
Garmadon
I love Zane, he's awesome, but my vote goes to him, ngl
zane, but jay has periods where he is just a nuisance and really whiny.
Zane- they just stopped giving him good story or plots after like season 3-4
Nya, she’s had points that are written really well; But she also was really poorly written during Crystalized. Not all of the remaining characters have this issue as much as nya
def zane or jay
Garmadon
Zane is a good guy and is an interesting consept but there is someone on the bored who I think is written better
Garmadon
Zane
Zane
Zane
jay
Zane
nya
Sorry, but Zane
Jay
Garmadon
Cole
What is wrong with y'all?! NYA NOW PLEASE
Sadly I think it’s Zane
Jay. I really can’t see why people like his writing
Kai he does nothing like fr
Zane, guy has had absolutely 0 character ever since season 5, they turned him from "the human in a robots body" to "a robot"
Woah woah woah did we say Lloyd is the worst written of the main ninja??? Jay: Was the inventor of the group (unless you consider Zane to be) now is dumb as hell
lloyd out before jay is kinda crazy ngl
and sora before jay?? don't get me wrong jay is an og ninja but he's easily the least developed of the ninjas..
Jay
Jay
Jay
jay, 100%. after a while he just became a simp and lost all of his actual personality (no hate to nya tho)
Nya. Simply on the fact that they've tried many times to develop her into a solid character & it's been a disaster on many of those occasions (I still like her tho)
