Exactly this. Leave the leaves. Also remember, lots of cool moths and even butterflies (think hairstreaks) make their homes in leaf litter. Lightning bugs are especially fond of leaf litter.
That’s super smart! I’m trying to get my lawn to be taken over by a native moss species that’s already taken over part of the yard and I’ll be using this next time I rake!
Leaf blower/mulch vacuum. [I got this one](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XQ9LNBS/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_6TATFPAV8M2JF34HHP17?psc=1) a few years ago, it's great.
2nd that one. It even handled massive maple leaves. Before having to cut it down, I would fill a 90 gallon yard waste bin four times every fall with leaves. The blower/vacuum made it way easier.
I have a front lawn like this & it's gorgeous. The maple and poplar leaves completely cover it in the fall. Started using a Lawn Sweeper attachment on the small riding mower & it's prefect. It collects the leaves with no damage to the moss.
Or just leave the leaves... They'll trap moisture and eventually break down each season, wind will blow away the excess.

In Japan they would use a broom to sweep debris off moss in the gardens

I pick up twigs by hand, and leave the rest alone
sweeping it lightly with a broom stick might help.
Battery blower?
Either leave it or get a nice battery blower. I can recommend husqvarna :)

I have a similar Toro model. I wish it had the backpack bag though like that B&D. Still, it shreds leaves incredibly small. Well worth the money.
We just mulch mow over ours, but in the summer lots of annual "weeds" will pop up. By the fall they have all died back and the moss remains.

A spring rake might work better than a hard rake.
My Grandma used a broom. I thought it was so cool that she swept her front yard.

Shop vac?
Battery powered blowers are great

Sooooo....... A leaf blower is out of the question?
Yes, they're loud as hell, expensive, stinky and polluting. God, I hate blowers. So much for peaceful afternoons in the neighborhood.
Pretty sure they've come out with newer rechargeable ones that are way quieter and more convenient to boot. Wouldn't that be better all around?
I miss rakes
I still use rakes myself. Just saying it's an option.
I bought my dad a battery pack blower, it's no louder than a mower and super light. Also great for clearing snow off the porch in winter.
Blowers are great if you want to piss off your neighbors.
