I’ve been playing for around 140hrs and have yet to leave the galaxy. I’m afraid lol. Tell me what I’m missing out on so maybe I’ll be motivated to take the leap tonight.

You can build bases on previous galaxies, near portals, so you can still travel back to them and move around the planets. New galaxies are worth it if you want to see something new (not too different from Euclid) but especially if you are seeking more extreme, lush or dead/strange planets. I love lush planets so green galaxies are my favourites :) you can find plenty of dinosaurs there.

thebeststeen

Wait… there’s different types of planets in other galaxies? I spend so much time exploring strange new worlds!

[deleted]

Galaxies come in 4 types, I think most of them are Norm galaxies like Euclid and the others might have more extreme planets (like Calypso, Harsh galaxies), more lush planets (like Eissentam, Lush galaxies) and more dead/strange planets (like Budullangr, Empty galaxies). Strange planets exist in Euclid too, they're mainly on blue star systems. It's those planets that usually have one fauna specie and that looks weird, plus weird structures that you can collect.

thebeststeen

Ok. I’m convinced. I’m going to the center tonight. I’ll have to make sure all my bags are packed so to speak so I can repair my ship. Off to the wiki I go! Thank you!

[deleted]

Just some heads up, if you have a freighter to make the jump the freighter itself will take no damage. All things in your inventory technology section won't be damaged, same for ships (those in normal slots will). You can have a trash ship as primary ship so you won't care about it getting damaged, same for the multi-tool, keep using the same one, possibly a very cheap one you don't care about, and keep making jumps with your freighter. The first few galaxies are somewhat boring except for Calypso, the first Harsh galaxy. I'd suggest you to set a base in the first ten and maybe stop in the tenth galaxy Eissentam, it's the most busy one after Euclid! You'll find plenty of people there. It's also a Lush galaxy.

thebeststeen

Thank you! So pack as much as I can into my freighter and make the jump with my crappiest ship then summon my freighter?

[deleted]

Do you have a freighter? You can make the jump with just the freighter, but it'll still damage your primary ship. Your primary ship is the last one you've been on, it's the one you see displayed in the inventory menu. Either use a crappy one or a living ship! Living ships don't get damaged at all. To make the jump with the freighter you have to be in the command room, there is a round "table" in the middle with multiple interactions available. One such interactions open a galaxy map (just like the one you can open while piloting your ship in the space), there you can make the jump to the next galaxy. To make the jump you have to be on a system adjacent to the core, and from there you have to zoom or long press on the core's direction. There could be a video tutorial somewhere in case you didn't understand, but if you want further clarification from me don't bother to ask!

thebeststeen

Ok yeah I do have a freighter and I’ve kept the starting ship so I don’t mind breaking it. My freighter storage is linked to my base storage. Will I still be able to access it when I make the jump? Thank you for being so helpful! I don’t have internet so I do not have a living ship sadly.

[deleted]

Do you remember how the game starts? It'll be the same, but you can promptly summon your freighter and you'll keep everything in all your inventories, I think you can even summon additional ships right away so you don't even have to walk to your damaged ship.

Toki9391

That was a great explanation Naalin_F Thank you. I want to add some of my findings related to the center jump. Many fellow travelers have asked me why they can't jump to the next galaxy with their starship. I couldn't find an official explanation for this. So I decided to use my fully upgraded living ship and exotic starship to try and jump to the next galaxy. The results, impossible to jump with a starship. The game won't even let you try. You have to use a Freighter to jump to the next galaxy.

[deleted]

Are you sure? The jump needs 2500 ly hyperdrive, usually freighters already start with a very overpowered one (well over 2500) so they can always make the jump. I'm pretty sure it's possible with ships if they were upgraded enough. I'll check once I'm at home.

Toki9391

You were right. I found the problem why I couldn't jump with the starship. The same as the Freighter, starships have to have 100% full hyperdrive. Mine was not.

DarthKarthrot

Can confirm, I found a planet of floating green bubbles that shit blood to fly, super weird lol

jagavila

One of my mining operations is on a planet just like the one you described. Bubbles and bubble fauna.

satya164

Not different types of planets, just different rates of different planets. IMO it's nice to go to a Galaxy of each type for higher chances of planets, but other than that not any benefit of going to all 255 galaxies unless you really want to.

metalsnake27

You're not really missing anything besides slightly different colored cores and different biome spawn chance.

Mcreesus

So do you reach the center by just jumping straight to it? Never really learned if that was the actual way. Just assumed

Toki9391

That's one way. You will need to gather all glyphs.

Mcreesus

Crap, those things. Good to know!

zalcandil

You can also look for atlas stations a change the galaxy from there.

acetrain111

I'll reply here because the other thread got too long, but another option to travel between galaxies is just to have someone bring you there. The advantage of this is that you don't have to repair any broken technology and that you can pick exactly which 1 of the 255 others to go to. Yes this is not the intended way to get the full game experience, but it is an option. r/NMSGalacticHub has a service they call "hUber" where you let them know which galaxy you want to go to and someone on the hub hooks you up

AboutaDirk

Will you do me a favour Drop by my saloon/brewery, once you reach #90? It's on the planet renamed to Corrusand (deserty planet, lots of cacti!) address 0800:0087:07FE:00E6 ♥ Love your work!

Toki9391

I'll stop by

localfoodslinger

So after restarting existence 255 times, do you just become the atlas? Hahaha

Toki9391

haha Pretty mch. That Atlas need it a replacement anyways haha

VastlyArtistic

Only 212 more to go! Only 212 more. Only, 212...

Toki9391

Semantics my little grasshopper, semantics.

[deleted]

if you get to galaxy 69 is it just caleed Nice?

nice___bot

Nice!

Squishy_Shibe

How do you exit the galaxy?

Toki9391

By reaching the center of the galaxy

Xymtrollio

how many galaxies can you visir on a single save

zalcandil

255

Get a bunch of alien planetary navigation data from the cartographer. Get a crap multi tool (you won’t use it). Move all your expensive to repair exosuit tech (rembrence and star seed environment stuff) into the technology part of the exosuit. Get a crap starship with hyperdrive and move as much tech as you can into the technology part of the starship (bring material for repairing the thruster and warp fuel). Make sure to drop a base. Use the Alien planetary data to find a monolith, use that to find a portal and feed in glyfs that will take you as close to the galaxy core as you can. Fill the starships hyperdrive and change to the crappy multi tool then warp to a new galaxy. Once you land switch to your good multi tool and run to your ship. Repair the ships thruster engine. (If you want to hop again) repeat the steps. Yesterday I jumped six galaxies in two hours.

Stunter740

How do you jump to another galaxy

G-bone714

When you get close to the core, open your galaxy map and set it for “galaxy core” and point it to that line and a circle will spin on the line and once it fills in you will be asked if you want to warp there (need full hyperdrive) and you hit X and go.

Stunter740

I'll try to figure it out tonight thanks

G-bone714

When at the portal you need to feed in the proper set of glyphs for it to take you to a planet that is next to (or very close) the galaxy core. I got the set of glyphs by watching a YouTube video called: God tier glyph to take you to any galaxy core.

Stunter740

Ok thanks

Kryosquid

Just do the jellyfish glyph 12 times takes you near to the centre

bill0042

I assume you are using the black hole trick so you will enter each new galaxy near the core?

Toki9391

Nope. No black holes. Just reaching the center of the galaxy

rippler7

glyphs please?
