These are a literal type of system called an “Abandoned” system. The implied theory is that the monstrosities took over the system.
Things you will note in these systems: no NPCs at any location, space station is abandoned and different (Trivia; they’re using the OG game launch model for these stations), all ground station doors are busted open and infected (including Manufacturing Facility doors!). All previously populated buildings are now infested with eggs (not just Abandoned buildings, but now minor colonies, observatories, manufacturing plants, ect). Trade Stations and archives are excluded from eggs.
Also note that all fauna is extinct in these worlds. I kinda like that… makes it neat n’ peaceful change, ironically.
And, as mentioned above, you can find these once you have a conflict scanner installed. They won’t register with any type of conflict level.
An interesting thing about these systems as well: you can find crashed ships (they have their own starship pool like other systems) and if you warp into them when the freighter battle is due to trigger, you'll get the battle. System ships (including the system exotic) will often land at the space station after the battle.
Unfortunately, since they're always a tier 1 economy, there are no S class ships or multitools (except the exotic, of course).

Those abandonded systems are eerie, especially first time you find one
