Don't start this!! It ends on a huge cliffhanger and is postponed because of the strike. If you start it anyway, it has a really slow beginning but stick with it because it picks up momentum a couple episodes in.
Unfortunately there were too few viewers to warrant the rather high price tag of the show apparently.
If you’re a fan of true crime in any capacity, this show is an absolute must watch if only for the Ed Kemper’s scenes.
Edit: spelling, also a quote from the article below:
>> “But it's a very expensive show and, in the eyes of Netflix, we didn't attract enough of an audience to justify such an investment," Fincher said during an interview with Forbes back in February 2023.

My husband and I take turns choosing who get to pick the next show to watch. He's always threatening this show. All 15 seasons. It's become a running joke.
Yeah but she’s pregnant.
OP Chernobyl is amazing but it will WRECK YOU. You’re like “oh I mean I know what happens” but knowing and watching are two different things.
I was postpartum when I saw it and it just fucking wrecked me.
My favorite part of the entire show is when Butcher >! Grabs the baby and uses its laser eyes to kill everyone in the room!<. Sounds stupid but hilarious to watch.
Yes, but don't binge it! Great show 100% recommend, but give it some time between episodes to think about stuff. I wish I had theorized and contemplated it more.
1. [The Good Place](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QxRbzFk3zk) (Critics often say it's the best sitcom with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 97%)

Absolute upvote on Futureman. Such an unexpected show overall. Season two has a very different feel than season one, but still so good for other reasons.
I loved White Lotus on Max, I watched both seasons in like 4 or 5 days? Excellent actors in both seasons. I’m a FTM with a 10 week old, so I’ve been burning through shows waaay too quickly!
Oof, I miss the days when I could watch literally anything and the baby would be none the wiser. Now I have infinitely less time to watch TV that I wanna watch. :(
(Also, side note…when I first got pregnant and joined a lot of mom groups, I’d see the acronym FTM a lot and think “oh my gosh, I’m joining so many progressive groups! There must be a lot of incredible trans men that want to give birth!” …And then I discovered FTM meant first time mom, not female to male…😆)
Fringe 2008-series. a scientist tries to find a cure for his sons disease. He succeeded, but was too late. His other project dimensional shifting was also a success. Finding another copy of his universe he cures his son in the other universe, well……I could go on but you need to watch it
Starts as a freaky-stuff procedural, like X Files but edgier, turns into wonderful characters and great stories. John Noble is amazing, actually the whole cast is outstanding- even the cow.
Thirded! It's one of my favorite shows and, amazingly, holds together over the course of the entire series. Even with Fox screwing around with the final season, I felt like Fringe stuck its landing.
I've been meaning to watch Murders in the Building, but haven't had the chance with my crazy work schedule. Definitely going to set aside an hour each week dedicated to it.
Six Feet Under
Carnivalé
Pushing Daisies
Dexter (through season 4, but not so much after)
American Horror Story, but not all of the seasons. There are a lot of disagreements among fans of the show, but I most liked the seasons called Freak Show, Hotel, and Cult. AntiChrist was also good, but only if you'd watched the other seasons, in my opinion.
Murder House (the first season) was pretty good, but it was also because it was the OG. And it was decent, so I would recommend it--because it really kicks things off.
Agree about watching only the first four seasons of dexter. It goes downhill pretty hard starting in the fifth season. John Lithgow in season four is incredible and super creepy. The book series they are based on is fun as well
I’ve gone back three times to watch a Netflix series called sense8. It’s full of twists and turns, fantastic, diverse characters and filled with action. I highly recommend it!
It's a little known show here in the United States...it's the Australian version of Orange is the new black
It's called WENTWORTH...Its the only scripted TV show I've ever watched that made me jump out of bed to yell at the TV
It makes orange is the new black look like Sesame Street
Yes! The Wire is worth the time to get into. There is so much plot and so many characters that it merits a book to go along with it (The Wire: Truth Be Told). I found the reference really helpful when characters would come around whose previous entanglements I’d forgotten about. There are also websites with the same kind of episode-by-episode breakdowns and character guides. Each season shifts the scenario somewhat, and season four focuses on a group of eighth graders. True Blood- modern vampire show where vampires have developed a drink “true blood” so humans are no longer “in danger” from them so now they have “come out” and live amongst us. Gorey, sexy.

Breaking Bad THEN Better Call Saul. You appericate the writing of the prequel show Better Call Saul if you don't watch it "Chronologically" in universe.
I hate to be this guy but, The Wire is the best television show that's ever been made. And I realized that is a pretty drastic boast but I stand behind it firmly. It is a true masterpiece. It ran at the same time as The Sopranos the difference is one got a Sunday night time slot and one got a Friday night time slot. It takes a little while to get going because it's a cops and robbers show where I don't think a cop ever shoots a bad guy. It's just an overview of the problems playing one of our most drug infested, crime infested and underfunded cities in America.
Please watch The Wire
Girls, Big Little Lies, Mare of Eastown, Six Feet Under, and Insecure on HBO
Little Fires Everywhere, The Handmaid’s Tale, Normal People, The Bear, and Cruel Summer on Hulu
Call the Midwife, Dark, Stranger Things, The Ultimatum Queer Version, Sex Education, Jane the Virgin, Ozark, and Russian Doll, on Netflix
Ted Lasso, Blackbird, Severance, and Physical on Apple TV
A Friend of the Family on Peacock
The Judge, Yellow Jackets, Nurse Jackie, and Shameless on Showtime
I could give other like reality show type suggestions but it’s seems you are looking for series. Good luck!
What We Do in the Shadows and the Great on Hulu.
Miracle Workers and Our Flag Means Death on Max.
Vikings (Prime?) and The Last Kingdom (Netflix) if you like GoT.
If you can handle cheesy, Manifest was a lot of stupid fun.
Haven’t seen anyone mention Orphan Black yet. It’s an oldie but a goodie! Tatiana Maslany is mind-bendingly good.
The Witcher is great if you don't over-think it. There are enough characters that I keep getting them confused with each other. People who love the books and video games complain that the show sucks (I like it, but I didn't read any of the books until after I saw the show).
The costuming and fight scenes are spectacular.
Also, Shadow and Bone. More great costuming. You may sense that is a theme with me.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds ( Mostly episodic. You don't have to watch the entire series to understand what is going on)
Star Trek: Lower Decks (packed with geek trivia. Does not take itself seriously.)
One Punch Man: Mangatastic! Turns out that super overwhelming power can be kinda boring. The artwork is amazing.
The Umbrella Academy. A dysfunctional superhero "family"
The Rain is easy to watch and reasonably good (S1 and 2, 3 not so much) and likely dubbed on NF if you don't fancy subs. I liked The Last Kingdom too, True Detective S1, haven't watched the rest yet.
I've been plowing through Shameless. I like it a lot. It's got some heart, isn't elaborate making it a casual watch and a good bit of dark humor. Plus there are 11 seasons!
Shameless but there's a lot of sex and it can be triggering for a lot of different reasons. Drug addicted, just terrible parents, kids raising each other, so much sex and younger characters portrayed having sex. It's on Netflix. Also, the bear.
Have you watched **See**? It is alternately wonderful and terrible but it was fun to watch. It even has a silly premise but it takes itself seriously. Jason Mamoa stars and Dave Bautista is in it some. I hate watched it at first but by the end I was kind of sad to see it go. But it does have a conclusion. It wasn't just canceled so you do get a full story.
Off the top of my head...
* Russian Doll
* Good Omens
* Fringe
* The Good Place
* The Witcher
* The Umbrella Academy
* Grace and Frankie
* The Imperfects
* Sex Education
* Stranger Things
* Black Mirror
* The Sandman
I'd also recommend the Netflix Hannah Gadsby comedy specials. I think there are three. So you could binge them by watching from oldest to newest. Ditto Taylor Tomlinson.
I also have to throw in a mention for I Am Not Okay With This even though Netflix killed it after just one season. So much potential. :(
Edit: Not sure where it would be for streaming, but I also highly recommend Galavant!
Severance
Very. Freaking. Good.
Can’t wait for the next season!
Don't start this!! It ends on a huge cliffhanger and is postponed because of the strike. If you start it anyway, it has a really slow beginning but stick with it because it picks up momentum a couple episodes in.
Mindhunter! Just a fantastic show! Still holding out for season 3 some day! 🤞🏻
I think it was canceled which sucks. It was great.
Why would Netflix bother to put out another season of a really good show when they can put out 800 seasons of crap-to-mediocre shows instead?
Unfortunately there were too few viewers to warrant the rather high price tag of the show apparently. If you’re a fan of true crime in any capacity, this show is an absolute must watch if only for the Ed Kemper’s scenes. Edit: spelling, also a quote from the article below: >> “But it's a very expensive show and, in the eyes of Netflix, we didn't attract enough of an audience to justify such an investment," Fincher said during an interview with Forbes back in February 2023. https://collider.com/david-fincher-mindhunter-season-3-cancelled-comments/
There was no massive price tag, or at least not which couldn’t be managed. The high cost was from CGI for all period vehicles and homes
A really excellent show and I really hope it comes back too.
I’m still salty about being left hanging.
I know it's older but The Sopranos is excellent. Better Call Saul is also very good.
Six Feet Under was also ground breaking.
My favorite ending of any show I've seen.
Definitely the best ending of any show I’ve seen.
AMAZING show! I actually watched that before I watched Dexter..was very interesting seeing Michael C Hall go from gay David to killer Dexter.
I just finished the sopranos this morning. Ending brilliant and awful in equal doses
I watched The Sopranos for the very first time a few months ago. I watched the whole thing in like two months and that is a masterpiece of a show!
I did watch Better call Saul! Idk why American Netflix is behind on having all the seasons.
If we're talking S shows, Supernatural
I second Supernatural, it's my favorite show, so I might be a bit biased. Lol
My husband and I take turns choosing who get to pick the next show to watch. He's always threatening this show. All 15 seasons. It's become a running joke.
Watch the first 6 seasons, and get back to us.
Hey ass butt! Still one of my favorite lines.
Check again. US Netflix has all 6 seasons now.
Superstore on Hulu. If you've ever worked retail you'll love it.
I'm currently making my way through this one for the first time. So loving it.
My fav comedy series. It’s so hilarious and rewatchable, never gets old.
I don’t know what service it’s on but Fargo is one of my favorite tv series ever. Especially the first two seasons.
That was a phenomenal show!
Completely unlike anything you mentioned, but Schitt’s Creek
This is SUCH A GOOD SHOW!!! Highly recommend Schitts creek!!
I wish I hadn't seen it so I could see it again for the first time. Loved it!
Love it!
LOVED this show! But I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. It's hard to get into at first but man does it evolve!
Chernobyl- HBO I think
Can confirm HBO, and that this is a solid recommendation.
Yeah but she’s pregnant. OP Chernobyl is amazing but it will WRECK YOU. You’re like “oh I mean I know what happens” but knowing and watching are two different things. I was postpartum when I saw it and it just fucking wrecked me.
Adding another vote for *The Good Place*.
It's the best forking show I've ever seen. AND it's my go-to when I'm feeling down, it always cheers me up.
As amazing as this show is, be prepared for tears.
The Good Place and Lucifer were two shows that made me laugh and cry within the same episode.
YES. a perfect binge show too
If you want a bit of violence and gore then The Boys is a very good show. Centred around the dark side of superhero’s. It’s on Amazon
Daaaaark (so dark) and fantastic!
My favorite part of the entire show is when Butcher >! Grabs the baby and uses its laser eyes to kill everyone in the room!<. Sounds stupid but hilarious to watch.
Parks and Rec takes time to warm up but it's worth watching.
I feel like you can start in season 2 and skip the awkwardness. It's one of my favorite shows, though, even awkward season 1.
You need to understand how they evolve
Agreed. Season 1 is painful to watch but I feel like jumping straight into 2 would leave you with some questions.
Dark on Netflix. High quality and pulls it all together at the end.
Easily the best television show ever made. 100% bingeable. We watched the first season in a day because we couldn’t stop.
Yes, but don't binge it! Great show 100% recommend, but give it some time between episodes to think about stuff. I wish I had theorized and contemplated it more.
Best. Show. Ever.
Literally one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I wish I could watch it for the first time again
The Expanse.
Without spoiling it, does it end in a good place? I'm on season 4, but just learned they didn't adapt the last three books
It does. Still a lot of questions unanswered, but the major arc of 4/5/6 is resolved.
Came here to say this, happy it's already on the list
The X-Files
Hell yes. It's on Disney+ I've seen the entire series at least 10 times over the last 30 years
for all of the phobias this show exploits, the baseball episode still tugs at my heart strings.

Dirk Gently is SO GOOD. Also Futureman
Absolute upvote on Futureman. Such an unexpected show overall. Season two has a very different feel than season one, but still so good for other reasons.
If you liked Futureman, try Paper Girls. An unexpected little sci-fi comics-based time travel gem.
Love, love, love Dirk Gently. Absolutely craziness.
Lucifer is a good call. Enjoyed that one.
I loved White Lotus on Max, I watched both seasons in like 4 or 5 days? Excellent actors in both seasons. I’m a FTM with a 10 week old, so I’ve been burning through shows waaay too quickly!

Natasha Lyonne’s new show “Poker Face” is pretty good and a fun twist on murder solving shows
Also, Russian Doll on Netflix starring Natasha Lyonne.
Yes anything with Natasha Lyonne
Homeland
Totally forgot about Homeland! Man, I should do a rewatch soon.
Justified
This was a fun one to binge. Seconded.
The writing in that was second to none - Boyd definitely has the silver tongue
What we do in the shadows Hulu super funny
Straight up brilliant writing!
Yes, yes, very good thank yaeww!
Good Omens Some older shows: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, Criminal minds
Second this for Good Omens, although I felt Season 1 was much better than Season 2
Agreed. I just finished watching Season 2 and was disappointed.
If someone binge watches Supernatural in 2023 I think they would deserve a medal
I need to give Good Omens another look. David Tennant and Michael Sheen, such a great combo
Fringe 2008-series. a scientist tries to find a cure for his sons disease. He succeeded, but was too late. His other project dimensional shifting was also a success. Finding another copy of his universe he cures his son in the other universe, well……I could go on but you need to watch it
Fringe is such a great series! It's one I wish I had never seen so I could experience it for the first time again!
Walter. 🥹
Starts as a freaky-stuff procedural, like X Files but edgier, turns into wonderful characters and great stories. John Noble is amazing, actually the whole cast is outstanding- even the cow.
Loved fringe! Have rewatched it at least 3 time
Fringe is good! Seconded
Thirded! It's one of my favorite shows and, amazingly, holds together over the course of the entire series. Even with Fox screwing around with the final season, I felt like Fringe stuck its landing.
Fourthed!
I love the last season, actually. I love how dark it gets - it’s nice juxtaposed against the happy go lucky nature of the previous seasons.
i LOVE Fringe!!
Upvote for Fringe! Amazing show!
Sex Education CB Strike Reservation Dogs
Definitely Reservation Dogs.
"Beef" on Netflix. I couldn't stop watching. It was sooo good
Murders in the building Poker face Warehouse 13 Eureka Twisted metal Our flag means death Edit: The Librarians is also fun. Both the movies and Tv
Eureka and Warehouse 13 are two of my favorites!
I've been meaning to watch Murders in the Building, but haven't had the chance with my crazy work schedule. Definitely going to set aside an hour each week dedicated to it.
For a game that had little plot, the Twisted Metal show was fucking delightful to watch.
Righteous Gemstones on HBO. Obsessed!
Righteous Gemstones is the answer 🙏
SHIT DADDY, DAMN!
Better Call Saul The Expanse Branching out: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Crazy Ex Girlfriend Ted Lasso The Good Place Westworld
Better Call Saul ❤️
I was hesitant to start Ted Lasso because of all the hype - I was so sad when I finally finished it.
Ted lasso was really good and I’m not a sports fan. Also on Apple TV that is good is invasion and if you’ve never read the books, foundation is good.
Peaky blinders is very good. Currently I’m binging the x-files.
Black Mirror on Netflix. I didn't care for the first episode much but I really love the rest.
I watched Jane the Virgin while I was pregnant and loved it, but not quite your genre.
One of my comfort shows, just love it!
jane the virgin and ugly betty! they are both amazing!
Brooklyn 99!
Six Feet Under Carnivalé Pushing Daisies Dexter (through season 4, but not so much after) American Horror Story, but not all of the seasons.
Six feet under, my fav all time show!

The wire
It ripped my heart right out like nothing I’d watched before, and as a parent I thought that was worth a little advisory.
Just rewatched this, it really is the best show
One of the best shows ever.
Absolutely the best show ever.

Fleabag, hell yeah.
12 Monkeys (the show). Based on your taste, I think you'll like it. If you haven't already seen it ofc.
Add Mr Robot if you haven't seen
Came here to recommend 12 Monkeys. May feel slow at first but by the end you'll want to immediately watch it again.
Silo See From
If you get a free trial of something you can watch From.
After life Barry
I hate to be this guy but, The Wire is the best television show that's ever been made. And I realized that is a pretty drastic boast but I stand behind it firmly. It is a true masterpiece. the good place, schitts creek, kims convenience, ugly betty
Kim’s convenience was fantastic
Schitt’s Creek is fabulous.
Silo, Apple TV
Handmaids tale
This show is super dark and intense but so, so good.
The Last of Us (HBO/Max)
The Leftovers. 3 seasons. Criminally underrated. Should be on Max
The Bear
If you can handle cheesy, Manifest was a lot of stupid fun. Haven’t seen anyone mention Orphan Black yet. It’s an oldie but a goodie! Tatiana Maslany is mind-bendingly good.
You. It’s on Netflix.
The Witcher is great if you don't over-think it. There are enough characters that I keep getting them confused with each other. I binged The Crown. Another season coming for when baby comes.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds ( Mostly episodic. You don't have to watch the entire series to understand what is going on) Star Trek: Lower Decks (packed with geek trivia. Does not take itself seriously.) One Punch Man: Mangatastic! Turns out that super overwhelming power can be kinda boring. The artwork is amazing. The Umbrella Academy. Mr. Robot. It’s on Prime video if you’re in the states. I’ve see some really phenomenal tv, but Mr. Robot changed me as a person.
Rami Malek was awesome in this show.

The Great British Bake-off
I've been plowing through Shameless. I like it a lot. It's got some heart, isn't elaborate making it a casual watch and a good bit of dark humor. Plus there are 11 seasons!
Have you seen iZombie?
If you like apocalyptic, Alice in Borderland was a wild ride!
Person of Interest
Shameless but there's a lot of sex and it can be triggering for a lot of different reasons. Drug addicted, just terrible parents, kids raising each other, so much sex and younger characters portrayed having sex. It's on Netflix. Also, the bear.
The Bear has blown me away. Absolutely brilliant tv.
My wife loves Suits
JURY DUTY!!! (prime)
I’ve literally rewatched this 3 times because I like watching it with people who have never seen it before lol
The Good Place MR. Robot Night Manager.
Severance, the leftovers, from
There’s not too much of it, but Upload is on Amazon Prime, and I loved it! The third season will be out soon too.
The Outsider. It’s on Crave in Canada, Apple TV has it as well. It’s an HBO show, Jason Bateman is in it. Super freaky and interesting.
Pushing daisies was this type of good to me (it’s on prime if you pay extra) but it got cancelled after two seasons :(
Gravity falls is something I always recommend to everyone, it was probably the most revolutionary animated Disney show ever.
Santa Clarita Diet - Netflix
Off the top of my head... * Russian Doll * Good Omens * Fringe * The Good Place * The Witcher * The Umbrella Academy * Grace and Frankie * The Imperfects * Sex Education * Stranger Things * Black Mirror * The Sandman I'd also recommend the Netflix Hannah Gadsby comedy specials. I think there are three. So you could binge them by watching from oldest to newest. Ditto Taylor Tomlinson. So much potential. :( Edit: Not sure where it would be for streaming, but I also highly recommend Galavant!
One season-Firefly they made a movie “Serenity” to finish it off.
The Expanse, Mr Robot and Vikings.
Lucifer
The Expanse on Prime is one of the best series I've ever watched. And re-watched. And re-watched.
Curb Your Enthusiasm
I would recommend The Expanse, Severance and Watchmen.
If you have the patience Doctor Who is worth your time! It’s iconic and every Doctor brings something different to the table!
Supernatural !!
Happy Valley. If you get a trial for Acorn, you’ll finish the three seasons in a week.
Veronica Mars
Jury duty was a blast to watch. It's just a brilliant idea. Made by the makers of The Office. It's one season, and just perfect.
