The US is legitimately looking into drone carrier concepts right now, it's probably minimum a decade before we see any kind of dedicated platform but I guarantee there's retrofit programs already in the works much the same way vertical launch tubes started to get thrown on everything a few decades ago.
We've got two of the old Tarawa class Amphibious landing ships decommissioned in reserve, those are effectively light carriers, if we were going to refit something that would be the move. But IMO it's more likely to be drone stations utilizing the much superior coms systems of an actual warship for extended range control since you don't really need almost anything to launch most drones.
Way I see it, turning the LCS into drone warfare testbeds is a good idea. At least get some form of use out of them. They have their modular bays after all.
We need to get past this reformer bullpup obsession, and get on board the "recoilless rifle" train. We need drone launch systems that simultaneously send drones in opposite directions so as to not disrupt the ships equilibrium. Is safer.
I gave it a couple tries but it never clicked. As Martincitopants said it, the skill curve is a cliff on fire and covered in bears. Maybe the third time's the charm🤔
I propose that the "IDK" area be made into a lounge area for improving morale of the drone pilots. Provided with caffeinated beverages, junk food, and pizza. Label it 'Mom's basement'. Also, the 'drone control room' and 'living quarters' can be turned into a single area by the simple expedient of providing a screen and xbox controller hookup for every bunk.

**YOU HAVE VIOLATED THE SUB'S MANDATORY DIAGRAM/CROSS-SECTION SADDAM RULE.** **PLEASE REVISE AND RESUBMIT.**
I will put him in the V2 Version, promise 🙏
pretty sure he's in the engine room
Now make it the stealth ship from Tomorrow Never Dies.
"the stealth ship from Tomorrow Never Dies" That would be the Sea Shadow (IX-529)

That one can be a sea drone carrier.

Best I can do is an ARLEIGH BURKE class SHIPALT that adds a few more hundred tons of displacement.

true, but they did have structural issues so it's only really going to work as a testbed not as a working ship.
Obviously. But it still gives them at least some mileage rather than going direct to the scrapyard.
just slap the drones into the torpedo tubes
You mean a torpedo boat? A DM2A4 seahake has a range of around 50km. Just saying. Nonetheless I like the drawing and the mouse(wo)manship
We're all autistic.
Needs more Saddam.
Too credible, both *Carrier Command* (and its sequels) and *Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising* are a thing.
You could have the launch / trigger towards the bow in the “idk” space? Would keep the ship compact in size as a bullup design rather the trad.

Idk would make a good VLS system, a few ballistic missiles for home defense
so basically a further evolution of the torpedo battleship? sounds good
Congrats you just reinvented the torpedo boat
We could do this to the RFA Argus, I mean it’s basically a carrier already.
Supposedly, my country (Portugal) is getting a ship that effectively works as a drone carrier in 2026, João II.
Might need a slightly larger engine room
Get From the Depths and make your ship a reality.

I played it a lot post-being really primitive and pre-being really complicated. I think they've made it waaaaay too complicated now.
Where is saddam tho?

So what im getting here is that the ship is bullpup

Iran has already built some concepts of cargo ships /oil tankers that can carry 100s of drones. Not sure they've done more than a few photo ops though
