It’s a toxic abusive relationship and sunk cost fallacy I guess some people hope that the next chapter would be good again. Some only come here to see how much worse the manga can get and complain about it. Some only come here to complain about the people complaining about the manga.

FuzeHosSIayer

You guys should get a less toxic hobby, how about making memes about the main sub and the manga? Lol

CaMoDaMo44

sure quality content would is better, and there used to be, but most who make memes dont want to keep making them about something they dont like, and thats because that is even more toxic idk why the interpretation of us from outside the sub is that we are all the time here complaining, (maybe people being defensive against criticism?) its not a hobby lol, this sub is full of complains because here we can say those, we arent all the time here, like maybe when a chapter comes out i'll comment something here and i'll keep going with my life tbh, i would say that those in the main sub coping the manga is still good is kinda toxic too but if there are people who genuinely enjoy it then good for them

FuzeHosSIayer

Personally i enjoy toxic memes lol. I used to make slander memes about the main sub and its members. The memes i've seen here aré top tier. I mean what Is there to discuss anyway? There won't be any New Chapters for a while.

GoldenSpermShower

I do make memes on the main sub lol, just burnt out on all the redraws

Puratinamu_Seishi

It's like a car crash to me. I want to look away, but I can't. Besides that, it's still OPM. There's always this slight hope that it gets better. Also waiting months, if not years at worst, for a new WC chapter is pretty painful, so focusing on the manga works as a good distraction to me. Sometimes there's actually something decent coming out, and if it's terrible, it's usually terrible in a way that I can at least make fun of it.

Funny_Kale_9189

I'm mostly checking this sub rather frequently in hopes of a new WC chapter.

Harbinger311

I think this sub is actually getting "reactivated" by newly disillusioned manga readers. The main sub isn't blanket deleting (contrarian) things anymore. And the new posters in this sub are actually being told to move over to this one from the main sub... I read it just to see how it's going. I harbor some hope that it'll improve, but the lack of content/movement from the latest redraws shows that isn't happening in the near future. And it literally takes less than a minute these days to go through a chapter, so it's not much of a time investment/waste.

KingCrabmaster

Last few days I was reminded of this place again and now I find myself curiously checking back in because there's been a few decent discussions compared to what I had seen a while ago. Can't speak for the regular commenters, but there is a strange curiosity that pulls one back. For the manga I describe it as a train wreck situation, hard to look away due to morbid fascination. Also I think there's just the desperate hope of getting new WC chapters, even knowing they come out basically once a year. Easier to check here because of the lower activity.

vk2028

I don't think this sub is really active to be honest. Other than the occasional manga chapters, not a lot of discussion are or can be generated. but yes when a new manga chapter comes out is when we can criticize it again

Hawcken

Because I used to love the series, and reading a short chapter every other week isn’t really a big commitment. Not really involved in community discussions anymore and I don’t read the chapter loads of times before the next release like I used to.

GravelordDeNito

In addition to the aforementioned "watching a car crash" analogy, I'm mostly waiting for the Monster Association arc to fully release in volume format. Until it is finally put to print, *theoretically* anything can still be changed with redraws. For me personally, there's still time for ONE/Murata to fix things if they reeeally wanted to. Most of what truly turned me off of the manga has yet to be printed in volume format. If by some outrageously unlikely miracle those events are redrawn into something more palatable, I can still be won back over. However, if by the time the final battle with Garou ends in volume format and nothing meaningful has been changed in a positive way, I will officially give up on the manga entirely. Maybe I'll occasionally stop by to see what a trainwreck future developments end up becoming or checking for webcomic updates and general news. Beyond that, my investment in the manga will die out completely if things remain the same as they are now. Until then, engaging in a little schadenfreude at the manga's expense with other like-minded people here is at least somewhat comforting.

RPG217

It's very crazy that bunch of chapters had come out for like 2 years and are still not in printed volume.

GravelordDeNito

It really doesn't speak to a healthy production schedule does it? That, and we just spent the last several months watching the manga spinning its wheels narratively. It speaks to a level of congestion somewhere in the creative process that no one in any official capacity is willing to acknowledge. Evidently, the next two volumes should encompass the "Bad Boys" chapters with Sage Centipede and Metal Bat. Depending on how those events are altered (if at all), it will be a good indicator of what to expect from future volumes. I am hoping beyond hope that someone somewhere in the creative process will greenlight a significant tonal shift for those chapters.

jbahill75

When they took hydrogenated fat out oreos I was so pissed. But the “new” oreos are all I have. And after I eat a few I think why did I bother? But next time someone brings oreos to a meeting I’ll do it all over again. That’s me with OPM right now. Sad but true

CaMoDaMo44

apart from what the others have said, like maybe its cope for it to become great again or looking at a car crash, its also not that big of a deal to keep up with the manga, i obviously dedicate less time to it than i used to but when a chapter comes out i can read it in a couple of minutes, this doesnt consume that much time for us lol

TheSpinnyHead

I like being a hater. Most of us do even if people dont admit it openly. The story is beyond salvation anyways, so might as well enjoy it for how bad it is.

FreeSpeechEnjoyer

Most of us stopped posting a long time ago

Izanagi-avatar

I am not as interested in the series as I used to be, but I will always stay loyal.

4692690

For me it's something like morbid curiosity. I wanna know what will happen next to even if I know it won't be good writing. It doesn't really take a whole lot out of you either. You can just skim through a chapter quickly and they usually come out pretty infrequently so I never get the same feeling of a task that I do with other series I haven't caught up on.

Kibate

Several reasons. One, I, like many others, have a mild obsession of finishing what I started. I've spent several years on the OPM manga before it got bad, I can't quit now. Second, even if the art got worse and the writing is abysmal, I still like to see how some webcomic scenes get adapted to another style. I love it when fanartist do it, and thus I love it when this glorified fanfic does it as well. Third, yes, there is this very tiny hope that eventually it will get back on track to its original roots by adapting the webcomic 1:1 Fourth, I want to see Webigaza be drawn by Murata Fifth, I'm a yuri shipper, I want to see how much Fubuki x Psykos will be in the manga. Sixth, it's fun to criticize something together with other people. Like, it's nice knowing other people share your opinion, you know?

Important-Move-5711

I don't. I've abandoned the manga completely, I just drop by from time to time to see if there's a new webcomic chapter.

garouforyou

Well I don't hope for anything manga-wise in the future. I kind of just skim new chapters now. But I still love the WC and I still love Garou. So it's not so much that I'm interested in the future of the OPM manga, it's more like I very much enjoy making Garou-related stuff so my love lies there. I'm not putting much stock, if any, in the manga now but I still love Garou a lot! And he's part of the OPM world so I still love the OPM world, but not the manga narrative of the last two years.

FamilyDramaIsland

I stopped reading OPM when they revised the Garou fight. As soon as the space fight stuff happened I was just sort of done with it. I just pop on here to watch people rant and see how much more the massacre the og story.

CreeperittoBR

I'm here to love on and share the webcomic so I have an easier time remaining, but I feel like other folks still are simply passionate about OPM and want a place that vindicates and permits their criticisms of, current, mainstream OPM. "One Punch Manga's good" is still the default and popular opinion and, since we live in an internet that, generally, sought to fight toxic negativity with toxic positivity, people don't really have any other place to express their thoughts and feelings without being "ostracized" (I put it in quotations because we're still only talking about a manga here, it isn't and should never be that serious; if it ever gets to that point it'd just be sad.). Also, I think we're doing a pretty good job nowadays of not blindly hating! We understand that we here all love, or loved OPM (in any of its many forms) at one point, which created the passion that many of us have. Some people are currently lamenting the state of things, some people are critical of it with hopes of it getting better, some others are just already enjoying it for several different reasons. It's nice that we can all share this passion and I hope we get to the point where we can all be interested in and discuss our POVs civilly.

Leonelmegaman

You can still have good discussions about the Webcomic and manga here, which some of here still follow.

GloomyWalk5178

I just found this sub today. I think I saw people start advertising it around the time the thread to quarantine complaints during the later MA nonsense was finally archived, but it was dead enough that I didn’t migrate. That said, I still occasionally check the manga, because I have a small glimmer of hope that the magic of OPM before it spiraled into generic shonen crap will return. The anime helped me through a very difficult period in my mid 20s. I could relate to Saitama, a socially isolated 25 year old who didn’t receive acknowledgment for his accomplishments, a little too well. It was cathartic to watch him wreck DSK and Boros with nothing so much as a thank you from anyone other than Genos or Mumen Rider. Now when I check on the manga, it’s just a lot of flipping through scans, barely reading dialogue, waiting to see if someone does or says something interesting. The current plot of “ninjas fighting over a magical artifact” is genuinely awful. I can’t believe there are people who get excited about this shit anymore, but here we are.

Rak-khan

There have been a few posts from people who just read the webcomic recently and wanted an outlet to compare it to the manga. I think that's a good enough reason for this sub to stay up and for me to stay in it. I'm always happy to see a new convert

TopShelfIdiocy

Yeah I think it's about time people move on from this. Otherwise this sub runs the risk of turning into something like The Fandom Menace
