Story wise, it goes up to WCI. Wano has its own story not based on anime or manga. In addition, there's DLC that contains Wano and Onigashima characters. But it's just characters only

ounknownto

Thanks - had to google WCI looks like is season 19. So it goes up to, or includes season 19? I think he is on season 18 or 19 now so probably getting close

Cheddarose

I don't know what you mean by season. But I just want to say that the game story starts from Alabasta-Enies Lobby-a bit of Sabaody and jump to Marineford-Dressrosa-Whole Cake Island- and then Wano. Wano's story is game original, so it's a bit different from the anime.

ounknownto

Oh the animated series - says season 20 is called Wano Country https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Piece_season_20 Sounds like he should probably finish season 19 of the animated series then to avoid story spoilers

TheSpheefromTeamFort

FYI animes like One Piece are referred to by their story arcs instead of seasons. Season 20 is just referred to as Wano. That’s because seasons like Season 19 can contain multiple arcs (Whole Cake Island and the Reverie/Levely) which can make it a bit more confusing. Your son doesn’t need to watch *all* of Season 19 (at least for the base game, DLC requires everything up to the end of Wano and Film: RED, which is set in the middle of Wano) since the Reverie/Levely arc is not in the game. https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Story_Arcs

ounknownto

Thanks - that makes it clear!

GamerDudeJMS

It goes up to Wano, but their Wano arc is original, so yes, there are spoilers.

ounknownto

Thanks- so it goes up to the season before Wano (which looks like season 20?) or it includes season 20. I think he is in season 18 or 19 right now.

Just fyi why some people are confused: One Piece is broadcasted weekly and thus doesn't go by seasons, but thematic Arcs. Some streaming services divide the series into seasons by usually just calling an arc a season, that's why some seasons are also way longer than others The current ongoing arc/season is Egghead, before that was Wano. The second DLC pass includes characters from there (up to roughly episode 1072), but the actual story the game presents as Wano is made up by the game devs. All the stories before then up to and including Whole Cake Island are based on what happened in the Anime. Wano should be Season 20, Whole Cake Island 19

I would encourage him not to touch any of the DLC as they contain spoilers up to episodes 1020~ & 1070~ as some other users said regarding power-ups. If possible don't even look at the character passes or DLC on the store pages if you can avoid it. Tell him to binge the anime and get up to date as soon as he can as the latest DLC characters are some of the best

Final_Advent

It technically goes until Wano but they have their own ending so it doesn't spoil anything. There are some moments in the game that would be better with the actual series but for the most part the story telling from what I remember was pretty weak

Ecstatic-Bed3083

It covers until wano, but the ,wano arc included is written different from original anime/ manga version bcs when pw4 came out the wano arc was still at the beginning in the anime

Gorzaa

End of onigashima The dlc Can spoil him pretty hard if he hasnt finished onigashima/ wano arc

ounknownto

Thanks - so if go through main story mode should be fine up to the end of season 19 of the animated series right?

HC99199

Idk about season but he should get to around episode 900.

ounknownto

Thanks

TheStrawHat_

I’m not sure about the seasons but when the crew leaves whole cake island in the show you can play the game there no spoilers

Great-Mix-4640

Like others, I recommend catching up to the end of Wano. Even though the game’s version is different, it still includes some spoilers about certain characters.

ArchitectAbdiel

It goes beyond where he is. He would be safe to play the majority of the story. Chapters 1-4, but should make sure he is up to Wano, Season 20 before finishing the game. And if he gets the DLC, he really should watch all of Wano, since it spoils a couple powerups.

ounknownto

Thanks!
