My kid was smart as fuck right away. Realized he was hitting things because he was moving too much. Set up a moving blanket that's 3x3 and stands on it. Now he can feel when he's moving from his boundary. Pretty smart.
I actually have some of those foam workout tiles in my basement vr area, I made the boundary about a ft wider than the foam. So now you have a warning track if you step off it and it's easier on the feet/legs to stand and play for longer.
ETA: Because I put mine on tile, I would recommend some anti-slip liners, I've made my entire setup slide/rotate from use.

If you're standing up, you can put your shin against a couch or some thing that's what I do. You do lose perspective and tend to move from your place. If you don't have some way to come back to reality and ground yourself with your feet.

If I'm not around to course correct him to wash his hands, he'll just throw it on without a second thought of taking care of it. I've put a passcode on it to gate his access, but it still get messy after a while. With certain kids it's like dirt comes out of their pores.
Dude, you don't even have to be dirty. I shower 2 times a day, clean my hands 20 - 30 times a day. And if doing workout apps and stuff that requires a lot of movement and causes you to sweat, it can happen easily. And I clean my headset down after every session.

I bought a set of the silicone controller covers to minimize hand sweat (still wipe down after each workout) and getting rid of that god-awful fabric head strap for an elite strap were game changers. Who TF thought putting the strap fabric onto a high contact area of the headset was a good idea?

I've washed my hands before I out it on every time. My only problem with the quest 3 is the same problem I have with any white electronics (controllers etc) they get dirty really fast and it shows.

For an iPhone (or any phone for that matter) the IMEI would need to be blacklisted by the cellular provider, which is what would block the phone from being activated/allowed on the network. It won’t block the phone from being used on Wi-Fi, so pretty much just loses cellular connectivity.
The other thing is that not all carriers use the same blacklist, so while it could be blocked on some carriers, the person can usually just try another carrier to get cellular on the phone.
Apple doesn’t do anything to block phones, outside of an iCloud lock, but obviously that won’t have been active on an unopened phone yet.
I initially thought that too until I saw the other photos of how beat to hell it is. I personally wouldn't care how it looked cosmetically for $200, but the scratched lens would probably kill it for me. (unless I was able to try it and confirm it wasn't going to drive me crazy).
Possible you could buff out the scratches - at least on old CDs you could get silvo and buff out the scratches; same with skylights -not 100% sure it works on glass but prob would as you are just polishing the scratch/es until they become transparent ...

There are automatic sex toys that sync up to compatible porn videos. Knowing that, it's not too far fetched to believe people would spend $500 on a VR headset to match to their $700 SchlongGobbler 9000 for a more immersive experience. Plus, VR porn games are a thing too.

Dude I snack, drink, and smoke (cigs and weed), almost EVERY time I use my oculus 2, I've had it for three years and it still looks fresh out of the box as day 1 including the lenses, not even the slightest little scuff. People are a trip. Also on that note, the scratch may look small but remember how close your face is to it, even a tiny scratch can irreparably ruin enjoyable gameplay.
looking around the vents, there looks to be the color/yellowing from cigars or cigarettes. They could be smoking in the headset. Don't know about the lens scratching if that's the case, but it makes me think not a kid.

Yeah, that's not even close the same comparison lol. Most people won't ever see your Q3, including you while you're using it. If the lens scratch is visible all the time while in use, however, I probably wouldn't buy it either.
To fix the lenses I'd recommend buying some PolyWatch compound on Amazon. Used that stuff on some cheap Quest 2s I acquired and made the lenses look like new. The Quest 3 also has plastic lenses. A fair warning though, I'd watch some videos on doing it right. If you do it wrong, you can make it worse.
Edit: Apparently the Quest 3 has a fresnel coating over it unlike the Quest 2 and using any kind of abrasive will ruin it and make scratches worse. Apologies. I saw the lenses were made of plastic as well and assumed PolyWatch would work. It DOES work for the Quest 2 though. I've used it on three different headsets and they have perfect lenses now.
Just paid $300cad for a new Quest 2 128gb (on sale $80 off), the 3's are like $649 new here for the 128 & $849 for the 512.
$200 (usd I guess?) for the 512 is a good deal, even if it's a bit banged up. As long as it works, I say you're good. But by the looks of it, give it a good clean/disinfect, make sure you don't catch anything, or randomly get pink eye.

3rd: the scratches on the lens. There are some there. Wasn’t many. But I don’t notice them when I have the headset on. Nothing looks blurry. But then I’ve never used a 3 before. So I wouldn’t know what to look for.
4th: replaced the straps with a Bobo. Replace the eye/face rest.
The worst thing on this is the straps so far. Got also gifted an original strap.

We were so sick that it took weeks for us to get better. So if I had that money I'd buy it in a heart beat for his birthday. The strap gets dirty extremely easily. As for the front it's been dropped. Those are nicks off the paint, dropped many times in fact.

Apple can't do anything but the cell carrier can. They keep blacklists of IMEI's that cannot be activated on their network.

That would be a dream for my son, but can't afford it. I had to take time off work and I don't get paid for it. But I came down with covid and strep a and my 9 year old as well. We were so sick that it took weeks for us to get better. So if I had that money I'd buy it in a heart beat for his birthday. But won't have any money till next pay check in 2 weeks and it will be small. But u lucked out.
