I can wholeheartedly recommend you get this. I honestly believe it's nothing less than a system-seller. It should get picked up by Meta and promoted as such. This is exactly what VR is for and it does it so well.

no lie! i erronious thought this was a thing back in PSVR days and was disapointed that it wasnt. Then, when I finally got a quest, this was the first thing I did. I love every second. I visit my home country and hike old hikes I usedto go on for the view. its incredible.

Hi OP! First up, it's very cool that you're making this. The google earth app is neat, but it is no longer updated, and could use some polish. I'm glad that you decided to take up this challenge! Two things I'd like to know- I saw in the reviews that installation takes some steps, but I think they may be old reviews- is this app now a one click install? The other thing, and this is an issue I had with google earth- when there are several 360 images that are close to each other, I have a hard time choosing each one or even seeing them all, and google earth doesn't let you know when you're near them. Sometimes google earth just randomly decides for me which 360 image I get to see when there are multiple images on top of each other. How does your app handle 360 image selection and discovery?

Sorry for the late response, Street View work the same way as they did in the PCVR Google Earth, however it’s much easier to find your desired photo since the flying is not abrupt, it starts smoothly simulating flying in real life if you had super powers 🤣 + you can control your speed based on the amount of force you put on the flight input button, so aside from the speed settings on the menu, you can fully control your flight speed precisely using just your flight input button - so flying precisely is extremely easy. EarthQuest is a one time install, the reviews are from the time when the Personal API was required, but keep in mind that EarthQuest currently only uses two keys for everyone in the Public API Mode, so there might still be some times where terrain won’t load because of too many users, there are only 2 keys for now because Google has some Server Billing issues that could get resolved anytime now, and after that no EarthQuest update is gonna be needed, the API Keys used in the Public API are hosted from cloud, so after Google fixes their server issue, the new keys will be added and there won’t ever be any terrain loading issues in the Public API Mode. However, the Personal API is now semi-automated, and should take less than 3-5 minutes, afterwards you get unlimited, free usage with no usage rate limits, ever.

You’ve done well with the app as a solo dev, but you really need better interface design. Maybe take a look at Apples UI design style and replicate something similar. Or hire a graphic designer to help with the UI design.

No_Entrepreneur_6623

Yup, an user interface update is coming but I have some big personal issues that need to be stabilised beforehand, either way if I get the time to do it - it is most likely going release in maximum 2 days from then.

pixxelpusher

Good to hear! I’ve been following the development since you started and it’s the main reason I haven’t purchased as yet. Look forward to seeing the updates.

The User Interface is really simple and intuitive at the moment, that’s part of the reason why it didn’t need a redesign. So, i don’t think the user interface could affect your experience in terms of complexity. But nevertheless a redesign is coming

pixxelpusher

Sorry, but I disagree. The look and feel of an interface and design elements of an app does for me affect the user experience. Maybe it's because I've spent 25 years in the design and creative world and it's now the centre of my whole life view. There's no reason for anything not to have beautiful design aesthetics applied to it, even something simple. It's not about complexity, it's about substance, experience and tactile responsiveness. It's also about adding that professional sheen and modern sophistication to the overall package, else it comes across as a bit amateur. I look forward to seeing the redesign as I really think you have something here.

I’m sorry to hear that, the current EarthQuest experience focuses more on efficiency than beauty, but this subject has been talked about in the discord community of you’d like to continue it - I’ll wait for you there !

glitchwabble

lol I like your fast timescales. I wish I could resolve personal crises so quickly ;)

Chris-N

Looks awesome, I just bought it - can't wait to get home and try it out!

You’ll be mind blown ! 🤯 Make sure to join the community where you can talk with me about it, you’ll experience VR at its full potential for the first time !! [earthquest.site](https://sites.google.com/view/earthquestvr/home/contact)

Ozpeter

It really is that good. One of those apps you will play till the battery goes flat.

Cheddle

I’m keen but I am looking for something that simulates gliding or flying in a more natural way, sort of like how Zenith VR does, where you use each hand as a sort of ‘wing’ and tilting the hand up or down changes your glide angle and momentum.

Eulachon

I don't know zenith VR, but the flying in this is petty amazing. You kinda feel like a superhero. I suggest you try it.

No_Entrepreneur_6623

I am 98% sure there’s not a single flying simulator that does everything as good as EarthQuest does, 98%. Immersiveness, Realism, Precise Flying Controls, Hand Tracking, Button Remapping, Comfort Settings for Flight, Lighting Graphics that are better than even the official PC Google Earth, and even multiplayer. EarthQuest works perfectly with laying down mode as well, insanely immersive.

Nyanzerfaust

I have been waiting for something like this. I have more than 200h played on google earth VR (steam) and my 360 pics on maps more than 7M views, so yeah, this is my thing. If your app has streetview, user panoramas and official google 3D maps you will get my money.

No_Entrepreneur_6623

It wouldn’t be “the best” without these essential features would it ?

Nyanzerfaust

Testing now. Street view looks low-res, almost broken, and can't navigate through it. Big cities like Tokyo lags a lot on my Quest3 when i'm near street level. Am I doing something wrong?

Join the [server](https://discord.gg/zZABGBm2) if you want to learn more about Street View or have any other questions, v22.23 makes it easy to choose your preferred terrain quality with your preferred performance The Street View is designed to have extremely little delay and to be used like a handy portal that you can enter anywhere with ease.

Of course it has them, these were implemented months ago
