As a general rule of thumb, unless it's already out, assume it's going to be delayed.
Expect some more concrete news in late October during their annual show.
Edit: Boy oh BOY was I wrong... Totally did not see it coming. Now I wonder what's so big that's being announced at the Oculus show that they felt comfortable doing a major release ahead of it.
Nor should you. In this specific case, I was wrong, but \*as a general rule of thumb\* it's still the correct approach. If you look at every game this year, more of them got delayed than released on time. This month, in VR, we got games like Lone Echo 2, Song in the Smoke and RE4. Two out of three were delayed. Last month, Battlefield 2042 was delayed, so was New World. And so on. It's just the way things are these days.
Also, nothing for nothing, but I was off by 7 days. That's not exactly horrible marksmanship.
A June 2021 legal dispute at Capcom may have hindered development.

I doubt it. That case is looking for X amount per photo, so any additional sales of the game wouldn’t have an impact and they are not looking for an injunction.
It was, but as I said the quest 2 is outselling the Xbox at the moment.
Vr is getting bigger and bigger vert quickly.
In may it was estimated that 5 million quest 2 units had been sold, obv many more will have been sold since then, especially since the new SKU launched.
So is the Xbox a niche product because it sold less in the same time frame?
No.
You can’t base the Xbox player base off the sales of the series X, that’s just ignorant. How many Xbox ones are out there as well? I love VR as much as the next guy but I’m not gonna try and convince myself that it’s even close to becoming mainstream for gaming.
I'm betting the release date will be announced at the Facebook Connect event on Oct 28th.
Bet
lol I've just seen the trailer, well played
$20?
40$

I half expect them to drop it during the event.
Makes sense from a marketing position with Halloween 3 days later.

thats a pretty long winded way of saying 'yup im a dumbass and was wrong' lollll
We'll probably hear about it at the Oculus showcase, but since people get pissed when delays are announced they're just not giving us a release date.
I expect for this to be our big news for Facebook Connect. Along with some other big name title announcements.
maybe theyll mention the panzer dragoon (voyage record) remake too, that looks really cool
The trailer with the release dated just released in case anyone was wondering https://youtu.be/M1dX7q5Wjx0

Good clarification
I saw it mentioned in a video in passing a few days ago. I think they said it might be 2022 now
Link? That's kind of a big deal if true, surprised no site mentioned this though
Big deal? Nothing in the VR world is a big deal.
Quest 2 was a big deal, considering it seems to have sold more units than the Xbox series X...
Sure but in the grand scheme of gaming VR is such a niche market. A delayed VR game wouldn’t be headlines in the gaming world.

Who's "they" ?
Was Thrill Seeker, Cas & Charry, or Virtual Reality Oasis. I watched a few videos from each of those and I they mentioned it in passing
Ha, I am thinking the same with the new boneworks game. I can only pray 🙏.
