Years ago, it was like clockwork -- Everyone got new computers for Christmas and things that were always available and fast were unavailable and/or slow on Christmas morning and most of the day.
I've been preaching about VR since the Quest 1, last year when I got this thing it was another step up in every way. I can still remember being wow'd by the bump up on resolution and lack of screen door.

I'm glad I waited until Quest 2 to jump in. I had tried VR a few times in early arcades and at those expos. They were all just a big gimmick. Probably would have jaded me had I jumped in earlier. Quest 2 is amazing that I can play standalone or PCVR all with the same device and all wireless. Had I payed SkyrimVR before Higgs and Vrik I would have hated it. I bought my quest like a right after Higgs came out. For me it was all perfect timing and I now love it.
Yeah after I posted I realized that DK1 and PSVR were probably pretty close to what we have now albeit with a few things being lower quality. Before I got the Quest 2 I was seeing vr through the eyes I had when I was younger which was all based on those older machines in the arcades where you stood still and this boxy polygon spaceship would come slowly towards you and you would fire your gun and a square bullet would pop out and miss its target because the tracking was crap.
So, I guess I was already jaded by that but Quest woke me up to what can be done with modern tech.
Actually, DK1 was very rough (much rougher than PSVR). It was 3dof, very low res with huge SDE, 60hz, had obviously no hand controllers and there were literary no real vr games, only a whole lot of tech demos (and Valve's awesome VR mod for Half Life 2 that got me sick in less than 10 minutes of playing it :)... but I was completely floored when I tried it. It was my first VR experience and it got me really excited about the future.
Quest 2 is actually much better than what I thought will be possible by now. I guess it's the first vr hmd I can really recommend to just about anyone who is curious about trying VR.
Another wholesome post welcoming newcomers? The Christmas Spirit is real! This is what I'd like to see more of. Less toxicity and more kindness and understanding. I challenge everyone on this sub to leave nothing but nice comments in this sub until after the new year. That's not a long time and gives the excited new Quest owners time to share their excitement. If it goes beyond that then even better.
My VR journey starts on Xmas day, Ive been waiting a very long time for technology to reach this point and Im super SUPER excited about my Quest 2, even convinced my best friend to get one too (we are both nearly 40 yrs old lol). Got a nice gaming bundle from Fanatical, couple new games on Steam and a library full of VR compatible games too, Im set for the next 12 months haha
I love mine as well, but four days ago my sons account game library disappeared and well we can’t get it back, and his account screen won’t load, it’s weird, can’t figure it out, may have to remove his account and reattach the account idk tried searching troubleshooting in the oculus site with no luck
Wait, how do I go to stand up comedy club on the quest!?

Nah, you wouldn't get jaded, you'd just appreciate the progress that VR is doing more. I should know as I jumped in VR with Rift DK1.

That sucks😫 You can try contacting oculus support and see if they could help.
