I love playing this with my friends and family too! Make sure you hunt for the golf balls and go back through for the riddles/savenger hunts!

Gary_BBGames

Love the ball hunts. Leaving night mode until we’re all ready as a group. Thanks for the tips :)

Sukiyo151

Walkabout Mini Golf is my favorite multiplayer game. There are a ton of levels now too!!

McParadigm

When COVID first popped up abroad, I started buying headsets whenever I could because my family is spread throughout the country and I had a sense of foreboding. I bought three for my own household (I have two kids), two for my brother (for him and his daughter), and one for my stepson (who is grown). My mom bought one to join us (she wasn’t terrible at paintball!), and my best friend bought one as well. We spent the entire pandemic together in vr….playing PVP shooters, golfing, fishing, watching movies, working out together, bowling, etc. We built a cabin in rec room and had Christmas there! My brother and I often get our kids together and just draw pictures in Rec Room for an hour. I made a Star Wars tabletop game, and we played that some. We learned Catan together, died in Demeo quite a lot, and had dogfights in space. The impact on peace of mind during long stretches of quarantine was invaluable. I don’t think solo virtual reality gaming, or any other type of gaming, holds a candle to playing in vr with close friends. Not even sort of. I wish absolutely everybody on earth could’ve had that for the last few years. My daughter and her cousin have been in the same room maybe two times since they were toddlers. They’ve never lived less than 2 time zones apart. But they are practically best friends, because of this goofy little headset.

Namekuseijon

> We built a cabin in rec room and had Christmas there! My brother and I often get our kids together and just draw pictures in Rec Room for an hour that's the metaverse way

stonesst

That is so heartwarming. As a child all of my cousins lived across the country, it would have been so nice to have VR and be able to actually spend time with them despite the distance. On another note, someone from Meta's PR department may be contacting you shortly.... Your story told well in a nice flashy ad would sell a lot of headsets haha

LePippy

I just learned you can do flying mode. Point your golf club straight up into the sky and it'll prompt you to press trigger. Then you can fly anywhere with your friends too! :)

Stryker412

What game is this?

wescotte

[Walkabout Mini Golf](https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/2462678267173943)

lman777

This is so great. Getting IRL friends into VR heightens the experience greatly. So far I have 5 friends with it also and 2 I play with regularly. Me and my best friend (since we were 4 years old) now play Walkabout regularly even though we live in different time zones, it's been such a great way to stay connected, much better than just texting or talking on the phone.

paidsubscriber

How is the single player campaign with this game?

RyricKrael

Single player is fine if you are looking for kind of relaxing round of golf.

Trizurp

Unless you really like mini golf I think you'll get bored of playing alone, at least I did. I'm not one to jump right into multiplayer but after only 3 holes by myself right when I bought the game I went to multiplayer and I wouldn't play this game single player ever again

Holtang420

I’ve played a few rounds solo after a smoke, while listening to a podcast or audiobook. It’s very pleasant.

Gary_BBGames

I have and would only play it multiplayer. I guess it would be fine, it would miss a lot of the fun.

fryopus

My parents live in Hawaii and we haven't been able to make a trip to see them in a while. Getting on with my wife and playing a round (or 5) of mini golf with them has been so great since we've convinced them to get headsets.

DrArmstrong

Mini golf with 5 people must take forever

Gary_BBGames

No idea of time, but 9 holes took around 60% battery. To be fair, in the game, the game isn’t the most important thing, it’s chatting to your friends. It’s a phone call with activities.

goten100

Hit the nail on the head, great way to describe why I like it so much

ipinchforeskins

I've had some amazing times with walkabout, friends and beer!

Gary_BBGames

And a straw :)

stonesst

It depends how good they are. Eighteen holes with 5 people typically takes between 45 minutes to an hour.

oculus

THIS is what VR is all about 👏👏

[deleted]

Everyone loves that game

dexxnanj

A group of friends played our first game as a group last week. It was awesome fun. We now have a Thursday night set as mini golf night, maybe go onto bowling too. So much fun compared to shooting games.

chippy-triforce

Yeah it didn’t take much selling for me my family was just very interested in VR and also walkabout minigolf is awesome

TheProcesSherpa

The first time I was walking around my living room, playing with friends 1500 miles apart, in realtime was pretty surreal.

MildManneredMan

Wait walkabout minigolf supports 5 players and has custom faces now?

Gary_BBGames

I’ve only just come to it, but yes. I don’t know how long for, but they’re both there.

crappy_pirate

how do you feel about asymmetric horror games like Dead By Daylight? there's a VR one been released recently called "After Dark VR" where four survivors have to avoid a hunter and escape from an area. despite being in early access, it's pretty fun if that's the type of game you're in to, and the dev team need all the help that they can get. disclosure - i'm the mod of r/AfterDarkVR but not affiliated with the devs apart from that, and i paid for the game the same as almost everyone else. i just really like the genre and am pumping it for that reason. EDIT - i understand the downvotes, i'm just trying to support a brand new VR game from a dev team so small that they don't even have a website yet. sorry to offend your precious fee-fees. EDIT 2 - the game is currently PCVR-only

MrGrinchx

Might be worth pointing out this is PCVR only too it seems? A big benefit of the Quest, in terms of posts like this and getting friends together, is the accessibility side of things. It gets considerably less accessible when you bring PCVR in to the equation. My partner has a Q2 and we play when neither of us has childcare and the kids are asleep, but she has not gaming PC, otherwise After Dark looks just the ticket! (Incidentally a gaming PC is on the horizon for her, but cost and part availability is prohibitive at the mo!).

GlitchWolfNLD

After Dark VR will be getting a Quest standalone version. We have planned ahead for this during development. However, at this point in time, I can not say when it will be released on Quest. Thank you! Source: I’m the lead dev of After Dark VR

crappy_pirate

that's a really good point and i was hoping to ignore it because us in the community have been suggesting it (a quest standalone version) to the devs, but there's only three of them and they're still ironing out bugs and adding features (game got publicly released about 10 days ago and is still in early access) **BUT** before i typed *this* sentence i entered that suggestion again on the discord, this time saying that it's come from reddit, so thank you on the devs' behalf for the feedback! EDIT - one of the devs has responded in the discord so i pointed him to this comment and he might reply in an official capacity soon

Gary_BBGames

No worries man. I appreciate you gotta do what you gotta do to grow a game. Contextually at least you got the right number of people. I’ll try and get everyone to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

ieattoomanybeans

I actually hate horror games

crappy_pirate

that's completely understandable and up to personal taste. this looks like a really fun game as well. i mean ... we play games to have **fun**, right? if horror's not fun for you then cool, there's plenty of other stuff too that *is*!

Azrethoc

Crazy Stu! I love that guy. Remember when he did a backflip off the George Washington Bridge because someone bet him a half-eaten burrito he couldn't? RIP CrzyStu.

Gary_BBGames

Love this :) He’s actually the most sensible guy I know.

f16loader

Make sure you mess around in the settings, you can turn up movement/fly speed in there. It’s brutally slow on default for me.

khendron

I don't recognize this course. Which one is it?

MainFrameX

First one

Guvner57

Tourist Trap Easy

khendron

Lol it’s been so long since i played the first levels I’d completely forgot them. Time to play the old courses again!

Superboredgamer15

Im working on something like that

frankiematthies

Same here I got all my friends to get one aswell and this game 😅

Mydescenttomadness

What are some good multiplayer games on vr

MostlyUpbeat

I also have sold my IRL friends to get the quest, and this is our go-to game. Funny that a mini golf game became my favorite game in VR, but it is truly amazing. It works, and it's even better with friends!

Noodle-Works

LUCKY!

[deleted]

The one positive about VR despite spaghetti-and-metaballs ownership of it is how you can span timezones and physical space to hangout with your friends. I watched a movie with my townie friend the other night and despite motion sickness making him sick in major VR games, the movie and stationary stuff works great.

iFoneusr

Dang nice. It must be fun to have friends

cerebrix

Saw the headline, and my brain saw the 5 as a 2 and instantly thought someone figured out a new way to link that one commercial

mcclechhhh5

Same here! I got my buddies to get it around Christmas time!

brad-is-radpunk101

Been trying to for months

Namekuseijon

Walkabout is sheer fun and chill magic.
