There were seven or eight different engine options, and four different transmission options, which made the Z28 package attractive. Some engines were good, but as smog regulations tightened up, the engines had a lot of extras bolted to them to get them to pass.

70-73 were the best. Looked great, pre-emissions, preformed well (for their time) and are just plain fun to drive. I love my 73 Z28, I always get looks and thumbs up when I'm driving it around.

My mum is nearly 73 and is whizzing around in an M2 and a Caterham. The looks on people's faces is priceless. When people ask me why I'm into cars (41F), I always say it was her who taught me. She's awesome.
She says her teeth are OK, but her bladder doesn't appreciate it! I did take her to Portmeirion in it (a long held dream of hers) and we had to stop half way for an impromptu trip to the bushes! A lovely biker saw two woman in a layby and stopped to see if we needed help which was lovely... but a bit embarrassing when I explained why we'd stopped.
She's just had a new knee and her first question was "when can I drive again?". Luckily the M2 has flappy paddles (TM), and it's her left knee, so I give it 6 weeks before she's raising mayhem again.
Me too, maybe I'll keep both for another 30 years... or I'll have devolved to the husband's MX5... *shudder*

Right the 1978 Z28 had the same HP as my 4 cylinder Camry, which is not a fast car at all.

70-72 with the split front bumper and round tail lights were the best looking Camaros ever made imo.
I do love split bumpers but ‘69 z28 - specifically DZ302 w 4speed - is the gold standard of Camaro imo.
