Meh...I served on his base and he was still remembered there. Loved by the locals and never disparaged by the Army or anything. Statues and plaques, etc.
I'm sure he had a very unnoteworthy career, but he did what was asked of him and that's more than a lot of people can say.
I had the same question. This is the same service uniform thst soldiers have today (they are transitioning back to the older green uniform but plenty of service members still have the blue).
I tried to see if this uniform was in use during that time but it seems there's pictures of Elvis wearing all different variations of service uniforms.
Whoa whoa whoa, they're transitioning BACK to the pickle suit? In God's name, why? I started my service in those fugly uniforms and was stoked when they "transitioned back to Dress Blues" because it's a much nicer and better-looking uniform that had historical significance. Why are they going back to green?...again...
Gross. I just looked it up. They say they want to being back the uniform they used in WW2 but I don't get the reasoning. It looks like a war-time dress uniform, and the belted jacket is so dated. Of course, I was also initially hostile to the off-color officer pants with the dress blues, but they look great in person.
The pickle suit never fit anyone correctly. I hated that thing. I'm reading that they're keeping the dress blues for very formal occasions and using the pinks&greens for a working uniform. That's a fair compromise, I suppose. Grunts love having to clean and care for like five separate uniforms. Although, I guess the Navy is worse in that regard.
Anytime anyone leaves the military, whether their contract is up and they didn't re-enlist, or they had a medical issue, or they get kicked out for fucking up or committing a crime, it is a "discharge." But there are administrative discharges and punitive discharges.
Administrative: Contract is over you got an honorable discharge, medical, that kind of stuff.
Punitive: (bad conduct or dishonorable discharge) You committed crimes or serious infractions. You possibly spent time in a military prison before being discharged. On the same level as a felony conviction.
Was dating his 1st Sgt's 16 year old daughter, not sure how he got that GCM? Lol
I always wondered if he did anything bad
Who knew that jn less than 20 years he would be dead.
I knew that. Googled it.
This dude did jack shit in the army compared to his fellows you can be certain of that

Friedberg?
He was offered the opportunity to serve as an entertainer, but chose to be a tanker instead.
Probably. But he went all the same.
That’s why he’s the king
Agreed but he still did more than Captain bone spurs.
Paid other soldiers to shine his shoes.
I was damn good at shining shoes in the military and i made decent money dont feel bad
In my platoon, you shined your own shoes. Never pass a fault.
Okay?
Thats bad ass dude

My dad was in the army around the same time here, and he stayed in until retirement. I never remember him wearing blue

Haha, yup. The phase out date is 2027 for the blue uniform. I'll almost be retired by then so I'll have seen 3 different uniforms.

I got out before they switched to the dress blues, so all I ever got was a pickle suit that never fit right to begin with.

The blue uniform was an optional dressier dress uniform until the adoption of the ASU
“Discharged”? For being a celebrity? 🤣

Back from the frontline no doubt!
We weren’t at war. But don’t let that stop you from making a dumb point.

Hahaha no it wasn’t. That ended in 1953.
