The bottles didn't have them at that time. Did a quick search just because.

I'm sure Coke was popular enough on its own. If you took a picture of me and my friends in our youth, you would see Sega Geneses (Genesi?) and Nintendo SNESes.
The standing guy on the left is in love with the guy in the pin stripe suit.
The sitting guy on the left just learned where the clit is.
The girl in pink found the bottle of 'mother's little helpers' before the dance.
Dude in the foreground just said something that's going to get him laid.
The girl in the back just farted. Her dance partner kinda liked it.
The dude in yellow is striking out so badly.
They don't whatsoever, it's the dated styles and photograph biasing people. I know people will look at this and think "People aged so much quicker, I am [insert older age] and look younger than them" but it's just denial, sorry to the 30+ crowd but y'all don't look this young anymore lol
After a careful and crudely conducted exam of this photo, I conclude 2 things:
1. This is not AI. Everyone appears to have normal fingers.
2. 65% of the boys in this photo are wearing their father’s tie.

I can't stop eating. I eat because I'm unhappy, and I'm unhappy because I eat. It's a vicious cycle.
You know, I was pretty sure that was the case, but now I’m not sure. Say these kids are 17 to make the math easy; they were born in 1930 and the riots were in 1921. People used to have kids pretty darn young, especially in rural OK. That puts their parents around 10 when the riots happened. I figure it’s more likely the grandparents and great grandparents of the kids in the pics. Some of these kids might have parents old enough to have participated, but I don’t think that many.
even if their parents were 21-25 around the riots they'd only be 30-34 having kids in '30. Late, but not unfathomably so; and Tulsa would have been "urban" Oklahoma, heh.
regardless, this is a coke or GE ad or whatever.
All of them about to get married and buy their first home. Wait a min, thebfront girl in green and pin stripe suit guy in middle both have a ring on ‘the’ finger. Are they already married at this point?
Since the original is in black and white it's pretty much up to the artist to decide what colors they're going to use on the project. There are a couple of different versions floating around the internet. Here's one where everyone has either brown or brunette hair and the clothes are a different color in each photo. Every artist will see something different when they add color.
https://preview.redd.it/awhvjawhf3ad1.jpeg?width=599&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d73539a803902021dc04e701e2e2b836dfc4c8a7
It's so weird to me that parties are now called house parties. Like what other kind of party is there? It used to be that house parties were the normal, generic party and if it were some other kind of party it would be called a pool party or something like that. But I don't know where a party would be held other than at someone's house. If it's at a park, it's a BBQ or something... it just seems strange to me. Why do we need to specify that it's house party?
I love how the girls' hands are positioned on their partners' backs. What would have happened if they'd actually palmed the boys' backs? Was that "first base" back then?
What a perfect time to be a white teenager in America. The war is over. Jobs are everywhere. Tuition costs the same as a bag of peanuts. Houses cost the same as two bags of peanuts.
People well dressed and groomed in the style of the 40s who happen to be white "Hitler looking bunch". Your brain is full cooked. What a sad way to see life.
Why exactly would you call a group of white people - because they’re simply guilty of being white - “Hitler youth looking.” You’re aware the country still is majority white and was even more majority white when this picture was taken, right? Is a picture of a group of only Asians or a group of black folks in your eyes having fun together racist? Do you think life is like what Hollywood shows you?
Looks like our comments struck a few nerves. You know, I never understood why racists hate to be called out on their racism. You would think they would be proud of it.
Wearing a pin stripe suit to a house party is crazy
He’s a moth. Look at how he is captivated by the shining lamp.
This is why our grandparents had such a distrust of moths
Explains why their houses smelled like moth balls.
More like distracting himself to keep from popping a boner
A truly intelligent and understanding girl knows that guys can't help it sometimes.
Good times
Norm Macdonald has entered the chat.
![gif](giphy|MhOekJL8e4JLmD11B6|downsized)
Reminds me of a phrase for some podcast about people being "drawn like moths to the yellow porch light of freedom."
Lamp Stare was the best drug they had back then
It was basically social media.

Just happy to not have been drafted. Yet.
At first glance, I totally thought his left hand was just cupping her boob.
I'm more amazed at the potato chips as snacks, I thought something like popcorn would be more the go to choice back in the day.
>Wearing a ~~pin stripe~~ suit to a house party is crazy FTFY
Teenagers scare the living shit out of me!!
They could care less as long as someone’ll bleed.
So darken your clothes, or strike a violent pose
Maybe they’ll leave you alone but not me!
The boys and girls in the clique
The awful names that they stick
You're never gonna fit in much, kid
But if you’re troubled and hurt
What you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they did.
We'll make them pay for the things that they did!
The awful names that they stick
Staged as hell
Probably a Coke advert

"boys and parties. They're what a girl thinks most about"
Interesting. Did they just interview random teens around America?
Exactly what it reminds me of.
I was going to say, how did they pull this shot off without flash? I'm guessing everyone held still and the camera was on a tripod
maybe they brought in lighting? also high ASA film like 400 speed, is capable of indoor photography without flash, as long as there is good lighting.
Duh
Thank you for pointing out the obvious
What did their parents do? Tulsa … 1921
EXACTLYYYY. I knew someone else had to be thinking what I was thinking
Legit staged-- I wonder what they're advertising?
Guessing coke from the strategically placed bottles.
Yeah, but no bright coke labels on them. Hmm...
The bottles didn't have them at that time. Did a quick search just because. https://preview.redd.it/swbkh4vbp0ad1.jpeg?width=1192&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49b7cce0fb674ae364a58c5f2993f4f5f2162b59
Coca-Cola from that 1899-1902 bottle do taste better though….you can almost say it hits different.
Neat! Interesting to learn.
the logos were pressed into the glass, no painted label; the cap was red with logo
Still though, dude on top left looks like he want a bullet
Coke 😯? Oh, coke 😒.
Pretty sure the bottled are painted into the photo, zoom in
I'm sure Coke was popular enough on its own. If you took a picture of me and my friends in our youth, you would see Sega Geneses (Genesi?) and Nintendo SNESes.
It was for Life Magazine, I believe. An article about American teenagers.
Where's the heavy petting?
That only leads to trouble...
And seat wetting...
That happened later, its a fun picture to zoom in on .
That sassy redhead in the green dress is definitely having impure thoughts.
Agreed
Why, everybody knows they didn't ***do*** that back then.
They didn’t post videos of it on line, anyway.
Looks like a Norman Rockwell painting
FYI to the colorist: the white pyrex bowl should really be yellow on the outside/white on the interior. That is all. :)
Looks like they’re having a swell time
Take me back to Tulsa I’m too young to marry

I wish I could read this and look at the pic at the same time. (On mobile)

Accurate AF
It’s honestly perfect. I kept checking the photo nodding in agreement.
They look 16 going on 30.
They don't whatsoever, it's the dated styles and photograph biasing people. I know people will look at this and think "People aged so much quicker, I am [insert older age] and look younger than them" but it's just denial, sorry to the 30+ crowd but y'all don't look this young anymore lol
My first thought was “damn, they look old for teenagers” 😯
One week later, they all had 2 kids and a house that was paid off. Different times... /s
This picture is so much better sans color
So. Much. Soda pop.
They had booze in their cars
Beautiful.

Well. I wouldn’t go too far with #3. Maybe they were well mannered, but maybe not. You’d need to ask the girls, imo.
True but im just following the old stereotype of how everyone was well mannered back then
Who told you that?
No clue, its just one of those stereotypes that go around
Those dancers aren’t leaving room for Jesus
Purity culture was and is absolutely vile.
https://preview.redd.it/ivv24xlgm1ad1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e7dadf79d6d4d025dcbb0389f4a5f8225b906359 I can't stop eating. I eat because I'm unhappy, and I'm unhappy because I eat. It's a vicious cycle.
You bastard... you play too much! 🤣 ![gif](giphy|10JhviFuU2gWD6)
The parents of these kids were probably part of the Black Wall Street riots.
You know, I was pretty sure that was the case, but now I’m not sure. Say these kids are 17 to make the math easy; they were born in 1930 and the riots were in 1921. So you know all these kids & their parents and have heard them talk about the fun they had participating in the “Black Wall Street Riots?”
My thoughts exactly

All of them about to get married and buy their first home. Wait a min, thebfront girl in green and pin stripe suit guy in middle both have a ring on ‘the’ finger. Are they already married at this point?
Class ring maybe?
Those Cokes look tasty
Fairly sure this was some magazine setup, much too clearly set up to be real.
Tulsa Oklahoma? Are they about to meet up with the greasers for a rumble???
What. These people are 30
Immaculately dressed!
Kinda wish I had lived during that time. But.. naaa.. I like good AC too much.
Why do they all have red hair?
Since the original is in black and white it's pretty much up to the artist to decide what colors they're going to use on the project. Looks happening.
How many of their parents/grandparents you think participated in the Tulsa Riots?
Look at that. No cell phones. Just living in the moment.
It's so weird to me that parties are now called house parties. Like what other kind of party is there? Looks staged
Looks painted
They’re celebrating the anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre
Lol same thoughts
So many hormones in this picture
Playing EDM bangers no doubt
Can you imagine how insane it would have gotten if someone would have shown up with a 6-pack of root beer or even some organic sarsaparilla? Oh youth.
I love how the girls' hands are positioned on their partners' backs. What would have happened if they'd actually palmed the boys' backs? Was that "first base" back then?
Damn they look like 30-somethings
Are those unsheathed LPs hanging out on the table with the snacks? Wild.
Why is it that men were way more attractive back then?
Probably for the same reason why the women were.
Crazy how they are all home and business owners already
Thought it was AI generated, but Nina Leen checks out. Cool photo.
Those cookies look like trash
Staged and a repost.
“Gee Wally, this is a swell party”
"Until that pesky Eddie Haskell showed up"
What a perfect time to be a white teenager in America. The war is over. Jobs are everywhere. Tuition costs the same as a bag of peanuts. Houses cost the same as two bags of peanuts.
If that's knotty pine paneling, it's the wrong color. No matter, I like viewing this old photo taken 8 years before i was born.
Where’s the hasty bake?
I would love me some of those cookies right now.
I’m sweating just looking at this pic.
every girl is a redhead?
I can't believe how old those type of ceiling tiles are.
Just missed the war
I have to buy a suit
Donut girl got somethin on her mind.
These young men don’t know it here but they are going to be fathers to four to eight kids each.
OK EVERYONE ACT NATURAL
I want a doughnut now
Ranga women only 😂
Love this! I need every decade now!
There must’ve been a collection of very large dogs and cats at that place. Rumor has it there was a lot of heavy petting going on.
![gif](giphy|HP7mtfNa1E4CEqNbNL|downsized)
Every single one of them is ridiculously attractive.
Nah, nothing staged there.
Well they are dressed better than nowadays lol. Is that one girl eating a donut?! Who serves donuts at a house party?! Wild lol 😂
I'm sure there are chaperones not too far away
The girls have hover hands.
Spot the lesbian!
r/mirin
Wow
Something that I never got to experience at that age, due to both my overprotective parents and my own lack of confidence.
DAMN! These dudes could rock those suits
is it just the style that makes them look older? would they look like modern teenagers if dressed in a modern style?
House parties in tulsa were always terrible😅
Three went home pregnant
they're dancin' mighty close
Some of those teenagers are 32
This is it, the long lost American dream !
Woman eating the donut ready to give the ol’ hawk tuah.
Bunch of Socs.
That party doesn't look very fun.
Just being around the opposite sex made it fun. Their hormones were all over the place 🤣
Looks about white.
Staged and stupid.
Posted multiple times. Posed, not natural.
I guess their black friends couldn’t make it.

With better food and music.

Yeah, I'm at the black party and they don't want you here. Maybe next time, Connor.
Some their parents were terrorists.

In Tulsa? You better believe it... and most of their grandparents.
