A/B/O, while controversial, remains one of the biggest genres of fanfic. You are intentionally depriving yourself of reader traffic and creating complications when it is highly unlikely anyone will notice - besides, you really don't want the comments of the anti-sex puritan antis, trust me. Do not appeal to them. Write from your main account with no shame.

I have posted ABO on my main and can confirm; it sees massive traffic. I’m not even a very prolific ABO writer, but the one I did write and post was at the time one of my best performing fics, and still has the highest kudos to hit ratio of my fics.

Same here - I write exclusively for one ship, both comfort and ABO, and while I get more kudos on PG13 stuff, I definitely get more comments and views on the ABO :)

That sounds encouraging!

Keep in mind that example was also an A/A fic which could attract more specific attention. But go for it and see what you do

Impressive-Bottle-97

Good point! Mine doesn’t actually have any mc pairings - it is more about friendship, support and recovery.

Thank you for encouragement! 🤗 Did I read you right - you wouldn’t even create a pseud? I have pondered if it's needed because every story shows on my story listing anyhow. I mainly thought that if someone (subscribers) wants to let my a/b/o stories be they would easily do that only by checking which one of my pseuds I'm using at the time. But yeah, overthinking, probably 😁

No, I never saw the point. I love what I write, and so do my writers, not to mention - I write exclusively for one ship. If people like my writing style on the fluff, many will also give A/B/O a go, since it's likely to portray the characters the same way.

I'm not a writer on AO3 so I can't speak from personal experience. Just want to point out that a pseud isn't actually apart from your main account. If you're publishing something under a pseud, people who subscribed to your account will still get a notification. And people going to your dashboard to look for fics will still see every fic published under a pseud. So if your goal is to keep your family-friendly stuff and your kinky stuff apart, you should definitely go for a second account.

Impressive-Bottle-97

Good point, thank you! I'm not actually disturbed by that fact, all my readers I actually know in RL are luckily adults or enough dummies with computers/English to not to be too disturbed ❤️ My main concern, straightly speaking, is that will the knowledge of me writing also "disturbing" material effect on people who want to concentrate on my fluffy stories enough for them to flee altogether. Of course, no-one in this sub can give me an answer fo that, but maybe some of you may be able to say something on the subject due to your own experiences?

Just wanted to mention it because I've noticed that quite a few people think that pseuds are completely separated from their main account. 😉 Also, if you have the time, you could go through the bookmarks of people that subscribed to you or kudosed your stories to see if they also (openly) read mature or explicit stuff. (Openly because some readers private their bookmarks of mature stories.) Might be even more significant because you already know that they read your stories. Or you could write a oneshot with A/B/O themes but only in T or M and see how your readers react. My personal opinion: I read pretty much everything from fluff to explicit and it only depends on my current mood which it will be. But I also commonly filter out everything I don't want to read (at the moment). I think most people who use AO3 regularly do it like that.

Impressive-Bottle-97

Thank you all for good points and ideas! I decided to publish an exploratory oneshot under my main account, to sniff the air a bit 😁 So, a combination of many of POV's presented here!
