Please go to the FB group Opossum Medical and Diet Help. They have experienced rehabbers there who can help you. For now keep this little one in a warm quiet place.

Please call a local wildlife rehab.

lore_wardn

If you'll read my post, we don't have any

Think-Confidence-624

May I ask what state you’re from so I can try and help find someone?

Better_Dust_2364

About 5 years ago op posted about being in Brownsville Oregon so perhaps they are still there. I hope you can find someone

Think-Confidence-624

Thanks

Better_Dust_2364

I just heard from a rehabber in the FB group that a good source to use is Animal Help Now. She said it’s a good solution for help if you’re not on FB or other social media. https://ahnow.org/mobile/

Logical_Holiday_2457

Take him to the vet if there are no Wildlife rehabbers in your area

Amenti_Aardwolf

Good chance they won't be willing to treat him. Vets have policies against wild animals for their own protection. I've tried, at least where I am, it becomes a legal issue. Plus, opossums are marsupials and require different care than a cat or dog, I doubt you'd have an exotic vet with opossum training in the area, but you could always check.

lore_wardn

I don't think we even have an exotic pet vet. It's insane to me that we don't have a wildlife rescue!

Missyghoul

If you’re able to get medical grade manuka honey, it works really well for open wounds. My friend has a cat who got hurt recently. She applied this honey to the wound and it really helped heal and keep the wound from getting infected. Poor thing.

Amenti_Aardwolf

Yep. Just make sure to clean it with some deluted iodine first. One of my ducks was badly attacked by a predator and I managed to get them completely closed up and re-feathered with that method. Problem is, for best results it's usually smart to pair it with some antibiotics in pill or liquid form, but it could still work without it.

Think-Confidence-624

Any update on this little fella?

lore_wardn

He's doing really well. Staying warm and eating!

Think-Confidence-624

Awesome!! How’s his injury?

lore_wardn

About the same. We are going to try highly diluted chlorhexidine. A tip from one of my son's teachers who has rehabed opossums in the past.
