I love Tidal Raves in Depot Bay. Amazing food and right on the cliff overlooking the bay. I don't know if it counts as a hidden gem but it is my favorite restaurant on the coast
Also Panini Bakery in Newport is so good. It's in the Nye beach commercial area. Everything there is great.
shhhh - Tidal Raves is busy enough as it is :)
If you go there...get the Seahawk bread - it is magnificent.
And get a reservation...
Great place - great views
Luna Sea is great. The newer Seal Rock location is in a very cool historic building, it was a very good Japanese restaurant for many years, and I'm assuming a bar originally, judging by the layout..
Schooner on Netarts Bay for oysters.
Dory Cove in Lincoln City for fried seafood.
Barnacle Bills in Lincoln City for super fresh take away.
Side Door for best seafood on the central coast, IMHO.
NeahKahNie Smokehouse in Nehalem. Unbelievably good smoked fish and these totally delectable hand pies! The smoked fish is flavorful, moist and impossible not to fall in love with.
[https://www.southbeachfishmarket.com/](https://www.southbeachfishmarket.com/) Newport, South of the bridge near the Aquarium and Hatfield Marine Science Center.
"Oregon Fishmongers" Food Truck. Sometimes in Newport, usually Waldport. No website that I could find, but they're on FB.
I've delivered product to this place and I've seen the back. I wouldnt suggest this place to my worst enemy. Did you take a look at the state of the building? It's disgusting.
Well, they seem to have successfully made food and not made people sick for many years and are seemingly very successful. I mean... yeah, I've seen things scurry out back, and I'm sure it's in bad shape inside too. I don't love their politics. I also don't eat there very often. However, it is a fun tourist stop with decent food. Kick-ass beef jerky, too, if that's your thing.
They don't make anything you can't get better somewhere else in town. Its just a tourist trap for people to think they're like the local but I don't know of anyone in Newport that would eat there
As a local, I do. Some people like a little character, kind of like a dive bar. I'm sure people can draw that line for themselves. If they get there and nope out, cool. I'm sure they won't starve.
J’s fish and chips in Lincoln City. Delicious beer battered halibut done right. Someone there definitely has a chip on their shoulder though because there are angry little signs everywhere in there that say things like, “Do not move the chairs!” “Do not sit at a table until you have your food!”
Luna Fish House in Yachats is good. There's one in Seal Rock as well. South Beach Fish Market used to be good, but it's kind of a dirty dive type place with an odd vibe. From what I've heard, it has lines out the door at times these days.
I'm curious to hear if the FDA's warning to not eat shellfish caught off the Oregon/Washington coasts over the last couple months has caused any serious issues with the restaurants along the coast. I'm going to be out there at the end of the month. Going to be disappointed if I can't find any decent Clam Chowder.
You might want to call ahead to anywhere you're planning to stop at to make sure their service hasn't been impacted.

This one knows what’s up!
Thanks!!!
Local Ocean in Newport might not be a secret, but it is one of my favorite restaurants in Oregon.
Awesome seafood!

That's technically Wheeler 🤓
squatschami food truck in lincoln city/salishan for chowder or fish and chips. only open fri-sun, but they get their fish fresh off the boat daily.
Might be the best clam chowder on the coast for real. And the nicest people ever.
Came here to shout out this one. Definitely a hidden gem. Also shares a patio with the best brewery on the coast! Which is also a hidden gem.
Bandon Fish Market. Best halibut fish n chips I have ever had.
Buttercup in Nehalem
Riverside Fish and Chips (Nehalem) behind Buttercup is well regarded too if you need to complement the chowder!
Love that place!!
Not really off the beaten path but you must hit Ecola Seafood in cannon beach incredible seafood. No frills but fresh and clean.
Great thread heading to coast in October
Hungry Clam in Bandon

Okay, well enjoy not eating there.
As a local I wouldn't recommend this place. long lines, questionable cleanliness, mediocre food.

Luna at Yachats. Very fresh. The clam chowder is sooo much more than clams.
Big Wave Cafe in Manzanita
I second, amazing food, especially the crab cakes..
Pacific Oyster Seafood has some great options right in Bay city

We're on the coast right now, and have eaten clam chowder, oysters, pasta with clams in it. No problem.
It’s mussels that have been the problem. It started on the north coast a few weeks ago but now there’s a warning along the entire Oregon coast.
Hukilau in Florence. Ye Gods I wish I were there right now.
Gracie's Sea Hag in Depot Bay is awesome: [https://www.theseahag.com/](https://www.theseahag.com/)
Firehouse in Florence. It's not the sub chain lol. Local restaurant in old town. They have excellent clam chowder.
south bay Astoria
Mo’s in Lincoln City for clam chowder! Pretty good!
Hard pass, Mo's is for people that think Denny's is good. Gracie's Sea Hag in Depoe Bay has great chowder.
