I agree. Simple OCs can be fun. Jakob is simply a Farmer. (Although he'll have time to go insane when he share time with all my other OCs.)
Not really. Although if I had a coin for every time someone thinks they're a Femboy. I would have 2 coins, which is not much. but it's funny that it happened twice.

True it's quite rare to see human OCs like that, while mine is a multiverse traveler at the end of the days most of them are still squishy human that can die quite easily, hence why they carry around guns, you never know which universe you might get assigned to, better come prepared.
Like Clementine here with her bullpup rifle.
Mhm, that's why all my OCs has guns!

I like characters I can relate to/showcase a bit of the creators personality. Like yeah, it's cool you shoot lasers out of your eyes or you're half wolf.... like that kinda design is super saturated, and i feel like your post won't get many views if your OC doesn't have cat ears or some sh\*t 😂😂😂

Sapar Akhmetovich Anarev! He is the assigned human partner (and boyfriend) to Isidor Godzikov in the Red Army. Sapar is half Kazakh and half Uyghur and he loves to write and discuss poetry like Isidor does, plus he is a religious Muslim :3
Sapar is usually introverted and a little distant from his fellow comrades but in story he is definitely more open when Isidor is with him, often joking around with him when he feels like it. He does NOT like talking about his origins before the Russian Revolution and joining the Red Army as he feels such small talk is “unnecessary” and it is clear that Isidor knows something about Sapar’s past that the rest of their comrades in the Red Army do not.
I still need to figure out some stuff for Sapar like what type of weapons he wields and etc :3
One of my characters is a Greek dude with schizophrenia that got his eye fucking stolen, and he just lives his life, no powers, just repressed historical homosexuality.
Yup, most of my ocs are pretty much just regular people with guns, and the ones that do have powers are relatively tame :D

Hell, when I have an OC that looks entirely human, there are design elements I put in that make them stand out. For Yikinal, it's a huge scar where her eye used to be plus sleeves of prison tattoos she got to connect back to her father, Odin. Ppyeo is a regular human, or "Earthborn/Pureborn". She's the medic of a crew called The Backdrop, and she's probably the only "normal" one since the rest either have cybernetics, powers or aren't human/completely human. She can fight as well as the others, but mainly sticks to patching them up.

Yessir- honestly, I find them more interesting and compelling than the really powerful/godly ocs 99% of the time. Nothing wrong with those, but idk there's something I love so much about the little guy against impossible circumstances, who never gets stronger in any significant way.
He just sticks to his guns, makes allies, learns skills, gets beat up a ton, and finds his way out somehow. Pretty much Samuel in a nutshell.

Funnily enough my main character is just a normal human with a katana that has a blade made out of obsidian, they dont have any powers until later in the story

Ryan Castillo, despite living in a world full of super human mutants and power armor clad soldiers he manages to keep up with his skills and a handful of gadgets.
Only like 5 of my OCs actually have powers, though one is from my fantasy world where magic exists.
Other than them my OCs pretty much are ordinary humans, Amariah (who I have plans to draw her soon) well she does live in the same universe as the 4 Elemental Daughters, she doesn’t have powers instead relaying on her abilities like marksmanship,
Humans are pretty neat!
I do mostly do fantasy folks these days, but my origins are in human-land!

My OCs are human and I'm proud of them!
Bean is one of my favourite OCs, and they're just a normal human. The two most "unusual" things about them are their name (which is really just an online alias, they probably use smth different irl) and their hair (which is dyed)

Alvis here is a normal human with the acceptation of his arm (work accident). Granted he doesn’t do a whole lot of fighting he lets his machines take care of that when needed
Ted, literally a normal mechanic who has witty catchphrases and listens to 80s music

Yeah, like all three of my OCs are normal humans
Oh absolutely - overpowered, over designed OCs just rely on design, but for a supposedly "boring" character, the creator has to actually do some work to establish a character, and that makes them so much more compelling.
I think so too but I guess the perk of fantasy OCs is that their bring attention to themselves because of their design alone. Human OCs don't have that but when they're interesting, they're interesting.
https://preview.redd.it/idiitzey288d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a74e178411eaaef6dd6e7ff428bef84ca5ec464
Nora is a normal human! Although she still lives in a world full of ppl with powers and stuff. And Spark is also a normal human(I don’t have a good picture of her), and she’s a Pokemon trainer. Pretty sure those are the only two though since most of my ocs are animals lmao
https://preview.redd.it/hqn2oh40d88d1.jpeg?width=1108&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d4e816725bc78292de706a0b34ded77fa81c57a
That's pretty much most of my OCs. They're all regular people with barely anything special or unique about them, and most of them are either idiots or pretty terrible people. But it's their reactions to the stuff happening around them that makes them entertaining, as you can put them in any weird scenario and there's bound to be something funny out of it.
https://preview.redd.it/7fd8uxaky88d1.jpeg?width=2448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5317658ddf263a2b0356d205b52c55d5b314b776
Honestly, while I do fall victim to this sort of thing far more often than I’d care to admit, my favorite characters have either minimal powers - usually granted by a wielded object - or no supernatural abilities at all. I value intelligence and experience above most everything else. Allegiant Admiral Wise is just a regular old human, and while he has a robotic hand, it doesn’t do much for him by way of extra functionality. He’s gotten to the point that he’s at - a hero of three separate wars and leader of the Galaxy-wide military - through sheer skill, experience, and intelligence. Sure, he may have used some dirty tricks here and there, as well as made a few risky maneuvers as a pilot at heart, but these were all within the bounds of what a normal human is capable of.
agreed! my OCs' universe is just the future so there's no magic or anything there, they're all just normal humans👍 OCs don't have to be a fantasy species to be interesting
I can never write a simple human character even if they have no trauma they are not human since I love fantasy too much even dark fantasy is my favorite.
My only human is literally cursed to be undying and has hypermobility issues (he can move his body in unatural ways due to being able to remove them but they pop out easy and can hurt)
https://preview.redd.it/576a6v7lth8d1.jpeg?width=1083&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=67c235edf6b6471f254fae1794eea270ef71ef5c

Adam is the only one of his team who, by the end of their story, does not become a cryptid of any kind after unlocking the shin tokioranger forms.
In general, the superpowers are restricted only to their ranger forms.

This is Benny.
Benny is a cop.
Benny deals with supernatural shit.
Not with guns or magic or holy weapons. He just hits monsters, REALLY hard. Mostly by the power of Kung-Fu and genetics.
Does it work?
??? And Crimson, being the only human OCs I made, and being the most broken ones:

Funnily enough my main character is just a normal human with a katana that has a blade made out of obsidian, they dont have any powers until later in the story
https://preview.redd.it/57b8ldzat58d1.png?width=1091&format=png&auto=webp&s=9b7941b818e8930065dc54f875742322c9c5f831 Ryan Castillo, despite living in a world full of super human mutants and power armor clad soldiers he manages to keep up with his skills and a handful of gadgets.
I do mostly do fantasy folks these days, but my origins are in human-land! https://preview.redd.it/9ywq6l80x58d1.png?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=47707c4cfee7f33f3e3eaeeb5890a6d380c190cc

I don't have any drawings of Landry but he's literally just some guy and I love him
https://preview.redd.it/we0zt426968d1.png?width=742&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d2491e322b4a0d4fbfc5a9cacf8dc1f0d7eb2d5 This is my most huan character. Ironically enough he has the powers of a stretch and bend cartoon character (definitely not an excuse for when I mess up proportions
I 100% agree. Using the real world inspirations is great for world building imo and is a nice restriction that forces you to get creative
Omg is that anime Claus von Stauffenberg
XD I'd lie if I said I wasn't a little bit inspired (by the film version of him starring Tom Cruise).
I KNEW IT
What about object OCs ?
they would be their own unique category I suppose
https://preview.redd.it/l96a56n2o68d1.png?width=2655&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17cb133e5f5d262a176ef2d40a0fcd1b9e863ef8 My OCs are human and I'm proud of them!
Most of my OCs are just normal boring people on the inside but my favorite part is design so none of them are completely human 😞
Bean is one of my favourite OCs, and they're just a normal human. The two most "unusual" things about them are their name (which is really just an online alias, they probably use smth different irl) and their hair (which is dyed) https://preview.redd.it/a3zcsl1jq68d1.png?width=850&format=png&auto=webp&s=d84e2617b8aca5d13a38f48d1f474ce5cfb2c15a

Ted, literally a normal mechanic who has witty catchphrases and listens to 80s music https://preview.redd.it/y0v02fvg878d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b36e121ad6398ebae1b90585ec6570af7c131338 (Old art)
I got like 7 soldier OCs. All normal humans.
every single one of my original characters is a plain human. and i love it lol
https://preview.redd.it/i7j4zx5xg78d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=632f5f2f36bf95b9b8c21e510e51485c82e29eb9 Hells yeah

My OC, Luna is an average human being thrown in a shitty situation. I made her as "normal" as possible
Human OCs don't have that but when they're interesting, they're interesting.
https://preview.redd.it/idiitzey288d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a74e178411eaaef6dd6e7ff428bef84ca5ec464 Nora is a normal human! Although she still lives in a world full of ppl with powers and stuff. And Spark is also a normal human(I don’t have a good picture of her), and she’s a Pokemon trainer. Pretty sure those are the only two though since most of my ocs are animals lmao
Is that Fischl?
my OC 😂 at least it's not Asuka this time
https://preview.redd.it/hqn2oh40d88d1.jpeg?width=1108&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d4e816725bc78292de706a0b34ded77fa81c57a That's pretty much most of my OCs. They're all regular people with barely anything special or unique about them, and most of them are either idiots or pretty terrible people. But it's their reactions to the stuff happening around them that makes them entertaining, as you can put them in any weird scenario and there's bound to be something funny out of it.
https://preview.redd.it/ppzgp26vs88d1.png?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df6c29d90584994c3b4be31eb2702685e7b2b34a

My only human is literally cursed to be undying and has hypermobility issues (he can move his body in unatural ways due to being able to remove them but they pop out easy and can hurt)
mine are just normal people with normal lives, even more boring
I am physically incapable of drawing a normal human (not out of preference but lack of skill)
https://preview.redd.it/lu1hwcrluf8d1.png?width=2252&format=png&auto=webp&s=480ddd210e61262a991c2e6f95671df9c19b96e1 I agree.

In general, the superpowers are restricted only to their ranger forms.

Not with guns or magic or holy weapons. He just hits monsters, REALLY hard. Mostly by the power of Kung-Fu and genetics. Does it work?
heck yes
trueee my oc is literally just "woman but she has many outfits and is addicted to music" *Processing img d08ottfyk58d1...*

i mean, i agree that human oc's are cool, but i for the life of cannot make a human oc and i don't know why
Oh my god. It's the weird NSFW anime reference
what? 🤨
??? And Crimson, being the only human OCs I made, and being the most broken ones: https://preview.redd.it/tup2gpe0n48d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58dc5ab8f0584566737f01dc85ef6e6b9af413ef A
