Azura: She has no idea. She woke up in the middle of the forest, next to a broken glass tank, bathed in liquid. Without memory of anything before. Only with a sticker on her foot that said "Azura, Shapeshifter."
As a Saiyan, it's about 50/50. He's been training his whole life to join the the Sadala Army. Once enlisted he kept working and eventually, with hard work and a little help from his father was able to move up the ranks.
While on a mission with his Father and Squad, they were attacked by an evil Namekian much stronger then anything they've faced before. He quickly killed the rest of the squad. Leaving Okra and his Father the last standing. Much like Trunk's awakening. Okra's Father sacrifices himself to by his son time to flee, grow strong, and avenge them.
Okra later returns to the battlefield. Hoping for any sign his father made it out alive. Only to see his corps face down in the mud. Triggering his Super Saiyan transformation.

My beloved Willow, who is a Jujutsu Kaisen oc, is born with her abilities. She *did* have to learn her swordsmanship though. Willow’s Cursed Technique gives her innate mastery over Cursed Energy to the absolute pinnacle of use. This includes conjuring a sword that can cut through cursed energy itself and nullify it :) I also gave her the ability to make portals for dramatic flair lmao.
For those who are curious, Willow is MEANT to be a little stupid crazy with it. She’s made to have fun and be a Mary Sue :D

In order to gain his skill in Void Magic, not only did he completely submit his human form to The Void, but he also took the time to actually learn how to use The Void's power, as to why he's so incredibly potent with it.
Might also help that he's clinically insane, so The Void's whole thing of corrupting the breaking the user's mind doesn't really work.
One does not require powers to be considered OP. Mine is over powered cause he spent years training physically and mentally (and intelligence wise) since the age of six, and only meant for it to be for his duty at the age of 20, and continues to "exercise". So he basically did not "waste" his childhood (as he says) on small insignificant messing around

Blake Ice Started as an Average Frost Elf from \[Crayon Layer\], and went on adventures, doing heroic deeds. Mainly Toppling Tyrants, Cutting through Armies, and becoming a Hero because of it. He one day Was given Godhood, becoming the God of Ice. He went on to battle his Greatest Opponent, \[REDACTED\]. \[REDACTED\] was a strategic genius, and in one of their battles, Blake fulfilled the requirements to wield Death's OHKO Sword, which he only uses when absolutely necessary. Ok so technically D got blessed with he's chain manipulation but figuring out he's powers don't have strict restrictions was all him. He gained he's weapons fair and square and he's earned each and every title he has. King is the perfect candidate out of my OC's. He spent the last two years in the declination of Earth planning its return in a new and stronger form after a war that would end all human life besides himself. He wanted to last long enough to see this happen, so he mercilessly trained his body, adapting it to more and more elements than would normally be extremely harmful to a human. This included fire, electricity, explosions, poison, etc. At the end of training, he concentrated all of the elements into a single substance, and exposed it to his body to mark the last day of Earth, creating rise to Abelro, the society that he created using a machine that would fuse organic and non-organic parts to create independent life.
His ability that came after all of this is called "Control Manipulation", which allows him to decide what he and others can control, whether it be elements, properties, you name it. This ability is limited to his creativity. This essentially made him a God in the world of Abelro, which became more of a science experiment to him as he added more and more things, just to see how the Bio-Mechinas would react.
Well, take paradox, for example.
He got his power for three reasons,
Sheer will,
Great intelligence,
And unfathomable anger.

Uh, the only really op ocs I have are Kimando, Knight, Mantalan, and that's about it.
Kimando had to go to every single planets core to retrieve a material that crafted the World Star, which he only (without his blade, that holds 50%) holds about 16% of its full power.
Knight travels through universes, and just kinda became the way he is naturally.
Mantalan regained his full Powers after the Celestial War, so he technically earned them.

For the first few powers is because they kept trying to sacrifice themself and the Gods were like “Don’t do that”. Then eventually they embraced their divine heritage and they became an official demigod.
Frost Smith actually had to learn and train one specific skill. Using magic required some learning too, but the skill to create infinitely sharp blade is by far the hardest.

I'd say my Terraria Calamity mod OC. He's my most OP character, and got his strength by taking down horrific monstrosities, his inability to permanently die, and usin stronger and stronger weapons, armour accessories, building multiple small towns for NPCs, saving a good amount of them, and taking on the strongest beings in the land, even getting a weapon that's said to be capable of "tearing gods asunder" - "Ark of the cosmos" description. However like what (I think?) is planned for the true endgame of the mod he gets corrupted by so much power and wants more, so he seeks out the tyrant who started it all, bearing the same armour and similar power.

In homestuck, in order to god tier, you must sacrifice your mortality and die on a bed to get your god powers.
BUT, he had to die twice, as he didn’t start off as a lord, but rather the SEER of time, in order to reach the lord status, he had to find an artifact that would requiem his god tier. Finding said artifact took MONTHS, and all the while he had to deal with bullshit in regards to managing his team, solving numerous problems with the world, and fighting numerous other mad gods until finally finding the artifact: a magic pocket watch where, upon opening, stabbed him in the fucking face.
And then, and ONLY THEN, did he become a lord of time, and he was immediately feared amongst his teammates, as he now had near complete control over time.

Myles power is pyro vibriction. His flames are active whenever he strikes or drag any part of his body on a hard surface, the more he drags the stronger the flame. But when Myles was a toddler, he awakened it with his active gene. The awakening allows the user to create a flame without the need to drag on a hard surface. Meaning that every step he takes, a flame is to follow.
He was trained to conceal his flames with pop energy(basically this worlds haki) from sensei ken and was taught certain fire techniques from master pow. He fought and trained many times, gaining 6 forms and increasing his biq. When he unlocked his white form that’s when he became op, but his final form was his black form.
In short, the black form is equivalent to a black hole. He has an attack that can burn through the multiverse called “torch of Omnipotence”.

While Avatar Asuka didn’t earn the power over all 4 elements, she earned the skill and extent of control she has over them. I wouldn’t say she’s OP compared to other Avatars (OC or canon), but she did create a technique that would never be replicated.
All my characters start of relatively low scale and grow with the story. I think some of them end up a bit Op but most of them dont get too crazy. Currently im working on a Sun Wukong inspired story where the main character starts off as a small child but is going to end up being a god after constant losses, sacrifices and training.

Suleyk, as a paladin used his own willpower to power his feats. But after a while of attempting to be stronger and stronger and utilizing his strength in order to get stronger. Eventually he impressed the god of strength so much that he was granted temporary blessings.
Suleyk however was not interested in being “temporarily” powerful so he eventually was able to keep these temporary blessings by powering them with his own willpower!
He wanted this power in order to be strong enough to shoulder the hopes and fears of the innocent and weak, while also having the strength to fight those who would abuse the their strengths over others.
In the end he became one of the most unique paladin/cleric multi class based characters I have ever made!

Robin was killed while protecting her family and friends from Kalphus but when she woke up, she was in a white void. Her father was there and told her that "Someone higher up had decided to give her another chance". So she was sent back to earth and killed Kalphus (yippee!) and got to keep her angel form, being able to shift between it and her regular form.

Might also help that he's clinically insane, so The Void's whole thing of corrupting the breaking the user's mind doesn't really work.
One does not require powers to be considered OP. Mine is over powered cause he spent years training physically and mentally (and intelligence wise) since the age of six, and only meant for it to be for his duty at the age of 20, and continues to "exercise". So he basically did not "waste" his childhood (as he says) on small insignificant messing around

Ok so technically D got blessed with he's chain manipulation but figuring out he's powers don't have strict restrictions was all him. He spent the last two years in the declination of Earth planning its return in a new and stronger form after a war that would end all human life besides himself. He wanted to last long enough to see this happen, so he mercilessly trained his body, adapting it to more and more elements than would normally be extremely harmful to a human. This included fire, electricity, explosions, poison, etc. At the end of training, he concentrated all of the elements into a single substance, and exposed it to his body to mark the last day of Earth, creating rise to Abelro, the society that he created using a machine that would fuse organic and non-organic parts to create independent life. His ability that came after all of this is called "Control Manipulation", which allows him to decide what he and others can control, whether it be elements, properties, you name it. This ability is limited to his creativity. This essentially made him a God in the world of Abelro, which became more of a science experiment to him as he added more and more things, just to see how the Bio-Mechinas would react.
Well, take paradox, for example. He got his power for three reasons, Sheer will, Great intelligence, And unfathomable anger. It is said that "throughout all realities. Uh, the only really op ocs I have are Kimando, Knight, Mantalan, and that's about it. Kimando had to go to every single planets core to retrieve a material that crafted the World Star, which he only (without his blade, that holds 50%) holds about 16% of its full power. Knight travels through universes, and just kinda became the way he is naturally. Mantalan regained his full Powers after the Celestial War, so he technically earned them.

I have the exact oposite, a overpowered villain, born with hes powers from the getgo, everyone loved him, and spoiled him, he was given very little genuine love, and care, wich plays a massive role in how he became a villain, as no one showed genuine interest in hes mindsett, hobbies, or showed him whats right from wrong
Well, the only one of my OCs that’s technically OP is Xurie because their father is an Eldritch abomination that created them from a meteor. The drawback to this is that they’re a literal baby, so they can’t really use the full extent of their space warping abilities.

While Jasper was born with the ability to use Jin magic and incredible mana reserves, he has earned the level of skill that he has through study and discipline. He's also made several advancements in the subject of Jin magic, and he's one of the lead scholars for it (behind the scenes, though, due to the eternal youth in the body of a preteen). Bob and the Time assassin really didn’t earn it. Bob was smacked in the head with a rock, and the time assassin was technically born with it, but only used it after snapping and going crazy. Have I ever made a character earn their power? Probably not

My op OC is Ryan, born with his powers but had to learn how to use them... He's over 80 thousand years old, looking as young as 21 for his race. He is one of the stronger OC's of mine, having to learn how to use his gravitational and momentum control, and training his mind to seal a greater evil within him without losing himself. He was born with an op power, but he couldn’t use it cause it would be to much and would have destroyed him, it actually made him blind and mute. But he worked super hard and found a way to use it with sound tech. Don’t know if this counts or not
So… like he started strong, above base, but then had to start his skills from before anyone else… so yeah, he worked for it. And died once.

I wouldn’t say she’s OP compared to other Avatars (OC or canon), but she did create a technique that would never be replicated.
All my characters start of relatively low scale and grow with the story. I think some of them end up a bit Op but most of them dont get too crazy. Currently im working on a Sun Wukong inspired story where the main character starts off as a small child but is going to end up being a god after constant losses, sacrifices and training.
He didnt, he got it and died trying to sustain it (I hated his character tbh, didn’t know why I made him)

Growing a TARDIS takes at least one millennium on average, and genetically reengineering yourself is extremely painful. I think Nate's earned it alright.

But after a while of attempting to be stronger and stronger and utilizing his strength in order to get stronger. Eventually he impressed the god of strength so much that he was granted temporary blessings. Suleyk however was not interested in being “temporarily” powerful so he eventually was able to keep these temporary blessings by powering them with his own willpower! He wanted this power in order to be strong enough to shoulder the hopes and fears of the innocent and weak, while also having the strength to fight those who would abuse the their strengths over others. In the end he became one of the most unique paladin/cleric multi class based characters I have ever made!

Her father was there and told her that "Someone higher up had decided to give her another chance". So she was sent back to earth and killed Kalphus (yippee!) and got to keep her angel form, being able to shift between it and her regular form.

She can copy other people’s attacks, you get it she can do anything if she finds it funny
