omg you’re so lucky… that’s an American Woodcock doing his [lil dance](https://youtu.be/YF3-LvmHM4E?si=LnX9GPH47Ik9_I9p)!! it’s believed they do this to disturb earthworms and other bugs
Makes me a lil sad watching him do that on pavement. Poor guy has no understanding of the altered world around him.
At least he was strut’n towards the grass.
"Hey, gurl, you want sum tail? \*flick\*"
"Ugh, Ron. Your tail is small."
"Becky thought my tail was big. Becky used to lemme smash, but Becky is smashin' Ben. Ben is a hoe."

(this is a description of the timberdoodle / woodcock mating / sky dance. The back and forth boogie dance is mentioned and a video linked in the text)
In my youth I use to crash timberdoodle hunts with my dog and ruin it for hunters with feigned ineptitude.
I love these awkward little shits.

Hunting will be a sport when both teams have the same equipment and rules to follow. Bear hunting with dogs and GPS is barbaric, but the yokels where I live think it makes them a big HeMan to sit in the pickups and watch the GPS signals if their dogs. May they all spend eternity being hunted by what they slaughtered during their miserable, stunted lives.
That is the American Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only 17 (in bird years)! /j but commenting so that I can use this post as a reference since I live in PA and would like to know what species of bird this is, too!
I call them nighttime meepers. I just learned last year that meep meep noise that they make at night, we have a bunch of them in the woods next to our house. I hope to see one during the daytime!
I always love the American Woodcock’s dance when they walk! 🥰😁😁😁💜💜💜 I still haven’t gotten to see an American Woodcock as someone who lives in the USA 🇺🇸! ☹️😔😔😔👎🏼👎🏼

If you have really good binoculars you can see little earbuds. If it’s quiet and you listen really close, you can hear Prince.

What if this were a forest and the pavement were a piece of sandstone or something? It'd still do it's dance, because that's just how they do!
No. They are just cool 😎
If I were an earthworm, that would disturb me too!
As an earthworm, I can confirm a disturbance
Swiggity swooty! He’s comin’ for that booty!
