This made me feel so icky. He soaps him up like a little kid and leaves all that soap over his face?? Also that dude does not look happy to be washed that intimately
Same. It seemed like a violation and stripped him of his decency like this guy is just exploiting the less privileged in a different way. (But he smiled after that, and seemed happy for the generosity, eating pizza and wearing a whole new outfit because of his charity)
I guess the question would be, does he want long hair or does he just have it bc he can’t afford a shave. It also might be lice/flea infected and unable to be washed without medical treatment. These vids are cringe af but I could see a shave and a towel bath being nice for him even if it’s a weird experience.
I for one am happy with the recording "good deeds" fad.
Incentivises otherwise selfish/self-centered people to do good things.
I say, fuck it, drown them in praise. Maybe it will attract other self centered people to do it as well.
However, none of this applying to this case where I feel like this is jist going to be for the worse. If I don't have access to routine maintenance (hair cuts, etc), id rather just leave things be than to get 'flowers for algernon' -ed
End quote: "We often think we need to do something grand to make a difference, but it's the simplest gestures that make the biggest impact."
Bro thinks he actually made a meaningful impact on his life. He's still gonna go back to living in poverty.
Yeah. His Apple Watch Ultra probably costs more than that poor guy will be able to earn in the rest of his lifetime. Sure, getting soaped up and trimmed down will make an impact,….
> least they *paid* the old
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
This reminds of the 2005 shock comedy cartoon Wondershowzen. They had an episode where they showed 'plastic surgeons without borders' that had plastic surgeons go to famine and war torn regions talking to mothers with starving kids and men who were bleeding from shrapnel wounds and talking about they can give them a make over all while they are in deep suffering...
Some of the stuff aged poorly like their anti-trans episode. But most of it is from a time when being an 'edgy' racist could be genuinely ironic and mocking of racism and not being a cover to spread it.
Like when they had a case of a Woody Allenesque Jewish man getting lost in the ghetto but none of the black people mean him any harm and even ask him in a friendly manner if he wants to join their dice game, and then he hulks out in fright even if no one is harming him.
The minorities don't even fight back, and when he creates a baby they tell him it is a huge responsibility and then he goes on to feed it 'man milk' from his breasts... That was just so surreal and wild.
Their use of child voice actors to give voice overs and state the creepiest stuff is also something I will never stop laughing at. Their 'peer pressure' sketch was also real fun.
I have not seen the show, but plastic surgeons without borders are a real thing that provides a tremendous value. Think about all the children cleft plates that get fixed or a burn victim with scaring all across their face. I have a friend who was hit in the face with a baseball and plastic surgery made him look whole and without it he would have a hole in his face.
But I have not seen the show...
Imagine having a head full of hair at that age and some fuckwit makes you bald
Also, this feels like abuse. This is not an elder man in need of such care
Dude that's what I was thinking! He should have given him a cool haircut, and maybe dyed his hair. It doesn't seem like the guy even knows how to give haircuts or shave though.
It does seem like this was done for clout, but at least it sends a good message.
Wtf. Normally I am like ok whatever film a bit but God damn did this guy have a camera in that dudes face for the whole fucking thing. Gross as shit and I am talking about the content creator.
Chad just washed this poor man like he was his dog. What a bizarre thing to do. The cult of Christ probably fawns all over this crap. "Yes! White savior to the rescue"
Scrubbing his body like that is kinda... where you lose the line between helping a person, and helping an animal... big ups sort of helping a dude... but turn the camera off and imagine how awful that part would seem.
The way he just shaves his head completely without really asking (maybe he did not recorded, but he just kind of gestures at his head and brings out the clippers.. why not just trim it or ask what he wants?) and how he washes him so invasively like an animal, yikes. Giving him clothes and food is nice, but then tossing his or shorts into the pile of garbage ? Very weird vibes
I feel extremely patronizing, like in a colonial sense of the civilized man coming in to teach the uncivilized darkie the virtues of Christian cleanliness...
Those old ads that said that are the worst in my opinion.
I am someone who is usually able to find humor in old dumb ads, but not those ads...
I mean I looked through the majority of the 1902 Sears Roebuck catalog and while I marvelled at the ease of them selling dynamite, there was one in the clothing section that advertised female underwear that showed girls using said underwear to play with a cat.
At least if I wake up tomorrow and find myself in 1902 I will at least know that our feline friends have not changed.
I believe it was the Muslims which were instrumental in the spread of good hygiene across Europe. IIRC Christians were filthy and didn’t bathe very often.
The soap as a bar (or cake if you want to be historic) was invented by Arabs. In Lebanon in Saida (Sidon) there is an old soap factory going back to the 17th century that has been turned into a museum. You can see the tools they used to make it, and to cut the soap into equal bar sizes, and even the hammer they used to stamp the bars with the mark of the factory. There is also a souvenir store where you can buy 'classic' soap as made in the period.
I should mention that that kind of soap is still commercially available for Lebanese in Lebanon. How does that soap look like? Well have you been to the body shop or some other places that sell fancy artisanal soap? They look exactly like that.
But I don't want to shit on Europeans though. Historically (I.E before Christianity and even during the middle ages) Europeans like to be as clean as everywhere else. I mean the Romans were famous for their baths.
And it was the cultural memory of those baths that persisted in the collapses west until, ironically, after the black death and the Renaissance that lead to a reduction in bathing in western Europe. In the east that tradition never died. Do you want to experience a direct descendant of Roman baths? Go to a Turkish Hammam. That is the closest thing to a Roman era bath today.
Kind of reminds me of those white savior vids of people going to a poorer part of Africa, grabbing a random kid for photo shoots, giving them something like a water bottle, then dipping. Like thanks for filming yourself giving this dude a public wash, but what next? Is he getting cut of the money this video makes?
The doo doo head content creator decided that the content was in the process and not the outcome. He couldn't care what the dude looked like in the end. Had the guy looking like angsty teen ghandi at the end with those glasses.
Though if the random dude felt happy or greatful then I can be a tiny tiny tiny bit less dissapointed by this poo poo content.

Yeah, I had to stop watching as soon as he was rubbing soap all over him. Why would he think cutting his hair and soaping him is doing good?
Same. It seemed like a violation and stripped him of his decency like this guy is just exploiting the less privileged in a different way. (But he smiled after that, and seemed happy for the generosity, eating pizza and wearing a whole new outfit because of his charity)
I didn't even make it that far. These videos really piss me off
I guess the question would be, does he want long hair or does he just have it bc he can’t afford a shave. It also might be lice/flea infected and unable to be washed without medical treatment. Yeah you don't soap little kids like that either.
Thanks for that, now let me get back to digging through garbage on the side of the road.
Came here to say this. Hilarious.
He threw the guy’s old trousers on the pile. I guess he can go back and fetch it.
Any one else feel like this dude is so gonna get robbed later?
Also they “helped” the one guy and then at the end were like nah fuck the others though.
Also this may have felt nicer had none of this been recorded. Like, you can do nice things without telling everybody

Ok, now go enjoy your trash, handsome.
Yeah. His Apple Watch Ultra probably costs more than that poor guy will be able to earn in the rest of his lifetime. Sure, getting soaped up and trimmed down will make an impact,….
It really overlooks what causes chronic poverty is the first place.
I hope at least they payed the old man for letting him.
At least a few hundred bucks. That video probably made a couple of thousands...

Good bot! . (Favorite bot actually!)
Unfortunately, bot voting has now ended Beep, boop, I’m not a bot
Ofc. They paid him in pizza. Didn’t you watch the whole video?
The level of condescension here is disgusting
Lol it's like he's treating him like a lost / abandoned animal.
I almost died when he started scrubbing his body. Like what??

I loved Wonder Showzen! I forget nobody else has seen it. Such a good show!

Hi, mind if I bathe you in public for content?
Imagine having a head full of hair at that age and some fuckwit makes you bald Also, this feels like abuse. This is not an elder man in need of such care
Now he’s gonna need a hat to protect him from sun damage or he’s gonna get skin cancer. This was so dumb.
Yeh why did they shave it all off instead of just a haircut??
I was thinking that too. Lots of men prefer to keep their hair as long as possible esp when it’s that thicc
Dude that's what I was thinking! He should have given him a cool haircut, and maybe dyed his hair. It doesn't seem like the guy even knows how to give haircuts or shave though. It does seem like this was done for clout, but at least it sends a good message.
He looks so happy at the end, but i wonder why he is washing a grown man? But he seemed to enjoy it, so..
Yeah this guy seems perfectly capable of washing himself. He doesn't need a white guy to rub his hands all over him. This is weird.
Oh yeah, the whole video reeks of white saviour complex or whatever it's called
And now he’s fed forever
how mighty **white** of you
So kind, generous, and exploitative.
That's some philanthropy porn if I've ever seen it. This man deserves some dignity.
It's fun to imagine we live in a world where this act of kindness could mean this person is not saved from a systemic injustice.
The worst thing about it is the mindless ghouls who watch and subscribe to this tripe.
Wtf. Normally I am like ok whatever film a bit but God damn did this guy have a camera in that dudes face for the whole fucking thing. Gross as shit and I am talking about the content creator.
He could've drove him to his hotel to have a shower rather than have that humiliating shit done
Chad just washed this poor man like he was his dog. What a bizarre thing to do. The cult of Christ probably fawns all over this crap. "Yes! White savior to the rescue"

Oh wow a white guy cleaning up some presumably homeless POC. Groundbreaking
True charity is anonymous -- Jim Pinto
Wtf
Jesus would be so proud.
I would follow this guy's channel in the hopes of seeing him accidentally try this on an Aghori
Wtf is this shit!?
Give a man a pizza and he might eat for a day...
The way he just shaves his head completely without really asking (maybe he did not recorded, but he just kind of gestures at his head and brings out the clippers.. why not just trim it or ask what he wants?) and how he washes him so invasively like an animal, yikes. Very cringe but everyone wins I think…other than us who have to watch it.
That is weird af
I feel extremely patronizing, like in a colonial sense of the civilized man coming in to teach the uncivilized darkie the virtues of Christian cleanliness... Those old ads that said that are the worst in my opinion.
Ah yes, “The White Man’s Burden” advertisements of the late 19th century…

No thanks I'll stick to not being around big sweaty hairy naked men

Yes, it is. And it bothers me that the old guy had potential for a nice hair and beard but he just got buzzed. Minimal effort.
