This was an incredible season, the acting, depth of characters, the music, the queer representation, Stede and Ed's love for each other, the kisses. I feel genuinely grateful for this show.

lobelia321

And the "I love you" came so naturally. Loved that.

xxx_Moritz_xxx

Their natural chemistry this season was butterfly-inducing at times and I don't say that lightly. I'm not the type of person to squeal over romcoms, EVER. Even gay ones. This is different.

ermer87

I LOVED it. Yes - there were some pacing issues but overall it was wonderful to see all the characters grow. I have no idea at all what they have planned for a S3 if it's renewed.

ThistleGreen

Agreed, and they did bloody well for what they had to contend with, it only felt rushed at times because they *were* being rushed, the editing team did a pretty excellent job considering.

ZookeepergameGlad897

The amount of times I’ve rewatched ep 1 until ep 4 is between me and Jesus 😅. I loved this season! The characters felt more grounded and developed vs S1 (which makes sense). The acting, the songs, the love and redemption. Ugh. There’s a few gripes of course - I could have done without Archie tbh, even if it meant having Jim doing their own thing and Olu & Zheng together - but I can’t expect a show to check everything I want it to be. I’m very happy with what they made and I’d be delighted for a third season!!

lola-calculus

I've been rewatching s2 all week, probably 4 times now, and I adore it. Looking back, I really think ep1 and 2 were just excellent. I think a lot of people were taken aback by their darkness, but I think it was such good television, as well as some of the finest acting we've seen so far from Con and Taika and Joel. Really impressed by the overall structure of the series. It's so well crafted.

Rarietty

The darkness feels very purposeful when you compare it to the whimsy of s1. S1 is from Stede's POV, where piracy is a fantastical, dreamlike escape from his repressed domestic life. S2 starts from Ed's POV where piracy is a nightmare he's desperate to escape from. The jarringness is the point. This show is very good at encouraging viewers to understand characters' mindsets through shifting genres and tones (see: how s1 ends with Stede embracing himself through the slapstick and comedy of his fake death, and how that contrasts with Ed rejecting himself through hiding his broken heart behind drama and violence) I don't want to be like "this season's critics are ACTUALLY wrong because something widely regarded as a flaw is actually a benefit" but I think the show generally being written from an empathetic perspective that immerses the viewer into the lead characters' emotions explains some of the pacing decisions, too. Ed jumps from whim to whim, and as Blackbeard he's stuck constantly moving forward without breaks. A lot of s2 feels rushed due to its limited episode count, but I think at least part of that is because Ed also feels rushed. The viewers are rushed alongside him, and he never gets much breathing room until the end of the season.

lola-calculus

hey, give my brain back! I'm gonna need it later today!

xxx_Moritz_xxx

LOVING this and I feel very similar.

ZookeepergameGlad897

I also loved those episodes!! Yes it was dark but you gotta get through the darkness before reaching the light. Some specific moments that come to mind are Stede’s face when he went to see the crew in jail + when Izzy tried thanking him, and how he kept it all in, only breaking down once he had saved the crew and was next to Ed. Also the “farewell” talk between Blackbeard and Izzy, the impossible birds scene, and the storm. Too many moments!!

Calycanth

Same, I adore those episodes. But I like dark material.

Platypus211

Exactly. I started appreciating this show much more when I stopped expecting it to be Black Sails 2.0, and just took it for what it is.

lobelia321

I actually found the Black Sailishness of s2 (the violence, the dark lighting) not great but I did love the Black Sailish politics of Izzy's speech to Ricky

Queen_Of_InnisLear

God yeah I was thinking about Silver during that speech. How he started out being only about himself and struggled against the pull of loyalty he felt to his men. The storm episode where he says that the scariest thing anyone said to him was "we'll take care of you" and fuck I just love that show ANYWAY yes Izzy's speech was all of that. Fantastic.

Platypus211

Ahhh I love finding people who still care about Black Sails as much as I do! I can't believe I missed it before, but you're totally right- the Izzy/Silver parallel there is real.

sevenleggedspider

I absolutely loved S2!! My only complaint is that I wish it were longer, but I can’t hold that against the show. S1 set the bar high, and I purposely tried to distance myself from the show (no fanfic, no excessive rewatches—warps my expectations and leaves me feeling unsatisfied when everything doesn’t unfold exactly the way I want), and I came away from every episode with my mind blown and my heart full.

gninnep

Same. The most prominent lingering feeling I have about the season in general is just a fullness of heart. I'm so happy with it 💜💜💜

hazycrazydaze

My only complaint about season 2 is that we didn’t get more of it.

ackinsocraycray

The finale being a half hour is unfair.

Thatsa_spicy_meatbal

Fr I wish it was 10 episodes, it would have been perfect, they could have given more time to so many scenes especially towards the end

astamar

I adored this season! It was such a fun ride, and I really hope we get one last season.

ZookeepergameGlad897

I loved this season. Forever skipping seeing Stede getting his ass handed over to him BUT that’s it lol. Are there things I wish they made differently? Hell yea. New characters I didn’t care for? Yep. But it’s unrealistic to expect them catering to what I want. I’ve rewatched a lot of the episodes since it started and I still find new details or parallels. Their kiss under the moonlight was beyond anything I could have imagined. If you had told me Ed made a fine things reference while wearing a bell and holding a fish… The montage in ep8 of the crew putting on costumes was amazing. The shot where Ed is throwing a coat at someone, Stede is behind the bar drinking, and Frenchie is standing guard on the stairs with his gun. They all looked so badass! And I LOVE how they wrapped it all up at the end. The camera panning from the end to the front of the ship (idk ship terms) which gave you a glimpse of each character…then you get to the end of the ship and realize Ed& Stede aren’t there? And the shot of them watching the ship, with the view being from inside the inn, through the broken window? 😭😭😭 can’t wait to rewatch it all over again.

lobelia321

what is the Stede getting his ass thrown bit? what'd I miss?

ZookeepergameGlad897

Oh it’s when Zheng basically beats him up at the end of ep7! Sorry, English isn’t my first language 😅

lobelia321

Dang. And here I thought we were getting some Stede booty. :D

ackinsocraycray

I'm in this boat (pun not intended), I enjoyed the show. There's some things to criticize of course but it's still overall amazing to see how the show has come so far from being a silly pirate show. There's so much growth and change. Some were beautiful and some were disappointing I see others are really upset and I understand why (although I think some people being so angry and swearing off the show or even tagging at David Jenkins is too extreme). I also feel like this was written like it was a SERIES finale. I can't really blame the crew considering their budget was slashed and they had lesser episodes to work with. You all have to remember that this is a time where streaming shows can get cancelled for seemingly no reason, even after announcing they get another season. If Jenkins and his crew were confident they were getting a third season, they probably would have written a much different show.

fordandfitzroy

He has said he still has a clear plan for what S3 will be about (S2 was about them finally choosing each other and deciding to be together, S3 will be about them learning how to make it work long-term). I think that it ends in a place that feels good if nothing else ever happens, but if we get a S3, I think there's plenty left to do (i.e. they're gonna struggle running that inn together lol)

RevolutionaryTrash98

Can’t wait for the parallels from Innkeeper/Fun and games in S3 tbh

Blueeyesblazing7

Oh yeah, and you know the odds of them getting sucked into another adventure at sea at some point in a third season are high! There's so much story left they could tell, so many characters to explore further.

crestamaquina

I LOVED IT. I am new to the fandom and I don't have beef with the pacing or the characters or anything, really. I laughed, I cried, I was shocked. It was amazing, and everything I hoped it would be.

VandaMissVanjie

I loved it. It hit all the right beats even though it was only 8 episodes. The writers did an amazing job.

jaaneeyree

Fucking loved it. Every scene of this show is a gift.

fordandfitzroy

I loved this season. I wish we'd had two more episodes, but I'm happy that we got what we did and I'm very happy it ended where it did. I'm in this primarily for Ed and Stede and I think their arc was well done. I do really hope we get a season 3 about them learning how to really be in a relationship together and the crew coming back for "one last job."

doo1230

I did! I have some criticism (which I think everyone has), the show isn’t perfect, but I’m not looking for perfection anyway. I was cheering so hard this episode and I give probs to the writers for taking on the challenging task of telling a story with less episodes. Hats off to our cast for their acting this season, they were amazing. Here’s to hoping for a season 3!

smurfsm00

I fucking ADORED this season and think they bloody NAILED IT TO THE WALL with this season finale.

ThistleGreen

They slammed it to the wall like Stede slammed Ed 🔥

smurfsm00

Mm. Mm mm mm mm mm MMM! That is RIGHT! ❤️‍🔥

lightyears-8663

The whole sequence of Ed going back to Blackbeard and then rising out of the water, coupled with the music is suck in my head and I'll probably rewatch it a thousand time. What a great moment. To answer your question, I loved this season! Season 1 was great, with strong episodes and others I don't really care for, but this season, every episode gave me a little something to remember them by.

wingthing666

The only ep I really had an issue with was 2.07, because there was just too much happening in too short a span of time. Other than that, I think the eps were all winners. And while I had DEEP reservations about an Izzy redemption arc, they all pulled it off brilliantly!

JenniferMcKay

I'm *so ready* to go back and rewatch from the beginning. I loved it so much. I want to schedule my OFMD-themed tattoo right the fuck now.

BruinsFan419

I did. I just love this show as a whole. I’ll say, I don’t think I’ve seen a show subreddit as critical as this though. I think a lot of it comes from people’s passion for it though. I obviously appreciate good tv/hate bad tv…. IMO opinion this show is just so good in many areas I’m able to gloss over some of the “complaints” I see on here. Thankful for such a unique show.

TheMobHasSpoken

Yeah, it gets so emotional on all sides. I love the show so much that I can't stand to see it criticized even when I know some of the criticism is valid. And some of the fans have related to the show so strongly that when things don't unfold the way they'd hoped, it feels almost personal. And in my real-world life, I don't know anyone who loves the show as much as I do. My husband's been watching the S2 episodes with me, which feels like an act of kindness; he likes it fine, but he doesn't love it. And it gets a little stressful. Like he'll say, "I just think that sometimes it's a little uneven, and the jokes don't always land," and I'll be like, "SHUT UP, YOU'RE UNEVEN AND YOU DON'T ALWAYS LAND!"

BruinsFan419

Agreed. I think you touched on something I was trying to skirt away from in my comment… I do notice myself getting annoyed by all the criticism at times. More of “oh c’mon guys this show is great, beggars can’t be choosers, etc.”. I have an irrational fear that all of it will ruin the possibility of season 3 lol I started the show without my wife. She tuned in to most of season 1 and enjoyed the show, her jaw dropping when she realized Stede and Ed were gay was tremendous lol. Says she plans to watch it from the beginning soon.

TheMobHasSpoken

> Says she plans to watch it from the beginning soon And I'm sure you're being very normal and patient about that and not like, "...now? Do you want to start watching it all now???" It's just such a great show that I've wanted to share it with the people I love, and sometimes they just won't accept the gift I'm trying to give them, lol.

lobelia321

I had some weekend guests staying in the summer and they'd seen s1 eps 1-8 on the plane. I cried: "You can't stop there! You must watch the rest! Now!" I think they were slightly surprised by me chivvying them in front of the screen.

99thoughtballunes

I have this same fear, but it doesn't seem so irrational to me. I'm a huge fan of the original Cowboy Bebop and when the live action came out people skewered the hell out of it and Netflix cancelled season 2 like a week after season one came out. Like, give it a little time to breathe. I am still a little disappointed because I think it was really fun to live in the Bebop world again, there's nothing like it.

BruinsFan419

Earlier today I might disagreed with you to an extent…. But after hearing about the masses of people on twitter bombarding the crew of the show….. Geeze. This show has garnered a passionate fan base…. What’s worse than season two ending how you didn’t want it? They’re not even being a season 3. People fell in love with this show for a reason. Let the people who made the show you fell in love with just do their thing….

StrangerSonia

Honestly it's giving me flashbacks to the Ted Lasso subreddit during the recent final season. I think it's a similar thing where the show means so much to people and it led to super high expectations.

BruinsFan419

I think you’re exactly right…. Kinda what I was getting at by people’s passion for the show. Man, I absolutely loved Ted lasso binged it with my wife on our paternity leave. I dunno how anyone could be critical of it. That’s one of those shows I’d say is perfect imo.

qwerti007

I did and yeah I also have some criticism but the pros outweighs the cons❤️ This show deserves recognition and can’t wait for season 3🥹

Consistent-Egg1534

Loved every second, down to the painful parts. I know it was compressed for time but they nailed it - need one more season to round it out.

[deleted]

Loved it! It doesn’t have to be perfect, it gave SO MUCH and I’ve been obsessed lol. OFMD has brought me so much joy, such a special show.

TolBrandir

Me. I loved it. I think that the showrunner(s) did the absolute best they could with 8 episodes. There was so much packed into every scene in every episode. They could only spend minutes on what should have received an entire episode to treat, but they gave us as much continuity as they could, balanced the humor with the drama (even if my emotional whiplash is going to need chiropractic treatment) and gave everything as much of a developmental arc as they could. The entire crew's betrayal of Stede in E07 was the one main element that felt just too contrived to me, even through they tried to set it up. But I think I'm alone on that front. Everything else - shit, I thought this season was amazing. Just about every single cast member took their acting not just up to the next level but up several levels. It was incredible.

lobelia321

I adored the reprisal of the beach reunion. Nina Simone bookending the season was brilliant. I laughed out loud!

inkedslytherim

I loved it. I'm 1000000% here for Stede's glowup. He's so obnoxious in S1 that I can barely stand to rewatch the first few episodes until Blackbeard comes into play.

StevesMcQueenIsHere

Stede just kept getting more and more handsome as S2 went on.

ThistleGreen

Good god yes. 🔥🔥🔥lucky Ed

lobelia321

Heh, I am the opposite. As soon as Rhys Darby's voice rang out across that deck, I was in gleeland. :)

DapperSalamander23

I've only managed to see clips and gifsets since I'm waiting (praying) BBC shows it soon in UK, but what I've seen, I *love*. I loved Ed being completely unhinged (and even hotter than series 1) and slowly coming back around to his softer side. And the crew finally showing some love to Izzy, Fang being adorable as ever, and I love the newbies (Zheng and Archie--loved Madeline on Taskmaster NZ, and Paul Williams cameo in the last ep). If there was anything I'd have changed it would be still having Guz Khan on the cast, absolutely adore him but getting my fix by watching Outsiders instead.

trudyrules

I woke up this morning and grabbed my phone. Before I watched Ep 8, I wanted to see if any pirate-themed rioting had broken out. I'm relieved that Ep 8 was such a good tie-up. The whole season was good, solid. (I can't decide which was better, episodes 3 or 4) I'll rewatch a couple of times and then take a break. Thanks Friends. 'Looking forward to catching up with you all for Season 3.

prettyorganic

I think the fact that my main criticism is wanting more says a lot of positive things about the season. I loved what they did with the time they had.

photonlights

Absolutely loved this season- yes i can see some issues bla bla bla but i was absolutely balling the whole time. I'm gonna rewatch it so much. Ed and Stede are the most perfect imperfect couple theyre the best I wish this show had 20 episodes idc

Opposite-Raccoon2156

I totally understand those who did not like it and agree the pacing was off thanks to the # of episodes being cut. I personally did like it but mostly because Ed/Stede are the heart of the show for me. I fell in love with the show because of their relationship and in terms of outcomes, they hit all the milestones I was hoping to see.

Quailkid32

Amazing showstopping incredible no notes but I'm also still weeping so i can't type very well

thalo616

I loved it. The only thing is that season 1 was so surprising having gone into it assuming it was gonna be something more like a standard farce. Season 2 has no real surprises and might’ve leaned a bit too much into the relationship stuff. Just my opinion. Overall, I think season 1 was more entertaining but 2 was still great.

Alice-Addams

it was great! the finale was my favorite. I wish there was more

spidercities

I loved this season! I actually really prefer it to the first season... obviously I loved the first season too, but it was slightly more uneven to me. I loved how this season really leaned into the central relationship, developed the characters, wasn't afraid to be dark... genuinely, every episode was a winner for me. Bring on season 3!

Rhys-Darbys-wife

The relationships between Ed and Stede in this season is so beautiful. In season 1 & 2 is just amazing and so romantic. All the things like the letters, the dreams and the kisses were beautiful! I truly love their love story<3

shinyredumbros

I feel so good about season 2. I love this story and I love the community that has grown up around it. I’ve been so moved this year in seeing how a community was stirred by a piece of art enough that in turn the art was inspired by all of us! We are, all of us, a crew - and I’m glad we have spaces like this to “talk it through.” Works of art are evocative and they can be divisive! But as long as we are engaging, well, that benefits all of us. I want to be a person as loyal to found family as Izzy, who chases their dreams like Stede, who seeks to know themselves despite the pain like Ed, who knows how to find joy and levity like Roach and Fang, who can smell an opportunity a mile away like Frenchie, who is able to let love change but not break like Jim and Olu….I could go on, but y’all get it. I am in awe of how much a show (with only 2 seasons!!) has influenced my life to such a tremendous degree.

itspegbundybitch

It was so good!

Ok_Willingness2669

Totally in love her and find new things both funny and emotional every time I watch!

girlandtea

I absolutely loved this season. And though I'm usually quite greedy to binge things it was so worth waiting between episodes! Mulling, digesting, rewatching and talking it through!

Thatsa_spicy_meatbal

As much as I complain about how rushed the last episodes were due to MAX I adored the season as a whole!! I'm still processing the last episode and the fact that it's over, but it honestly is still such a wonderful season and gave us everything we asked for (and a few things we didn't 😭😭) But I genuinely love it so much and I really really hope we get a season 3 so we can see Ed and Stede running their inn and living the domestic life. A third season would be a perfect wrap up for the series imo

madeline_hatter

I love season two so much. I don’t even quite get the criticism that the pacing was too rushed, because a lot of that felt intentional to me as a storytelling device.

weaverini

I'm crying right now after watching the finale thinking about if it isn't renewed and there's no season three. I love this show with my whole heart. I can't fathom not having them back. I sound crazy but I don't care.

j0butupaki

I loved season 2. Every week, I rewatched the whole season up to the new episode, and I was just as delighted on my fourth or fifth viewing as my first. Would I give anything to retroactively give the creators two more episodes or more time in each episode? Yes, but that doesn’t remove the heart from the show or make me love it any less. To me, everyone was on their A game from the writers to the actors.

cafesaigon

Only thing wrong was the runtime

gossamerbotanicals

It was wonderful! I absolutely loved Calypso’s Birthday and the finale. This is one of my favorite shows of all time. I thought the fisherman scene in the beginning of the episode 8 was hilarious! For the issue that has caused so much heartache…I have a feeling that Season 3 will involve some supernatural elements if you catch my drift. A certain someone said their spirit will go one till the end of the British empire.

xxx_Moritz_xxx

Me. So much of it was amazing. My thoughts right now are on Taika's acting, it was a noticeable improvement from s1 (not that he was bad in s1, but it was like this season he REALLY wanted to perform well and it showed).

lukdejaqueta

bro even if it was actually horrible I would've loved it

lgh1031

It was great until the last episode. Now I don't care if there is another season

Advanced-Strain-3816

! I'm still processing the finale, if I'm being honest. I loved it, but I'm also avoiding truly feeling the heartbreak after Izzy... I'll probably have a good cry tonight, after rewatching it with a friend and having time to unwind. But yes! This season was near perfection, to me! I just wished it wasn't so short and that things didn't feel so rushed because of it! But the whole character's development, especially Izzy, Lucius and the whole Stede and Ed 's relationship, was very satisfying. Story-wise, all the parallels and callbacks and foreshadowing made the whole season feel like a cohesive whole, and it worked very well imo. Overall, it had been a fun watch, with lots of hearts, and on par to what I expected, so, I love it.

palmtreehelicopter

I love this season so much that it pains me how little time they had to show it. I understand overall the story they tried to tell and with little time they had I think they did a good job. I see so many people now going "what was that ?? It was so rushed!" While also being aware that it being rushed was a tad bit on purpose but also not a choice the show-runners really had a say in at the same time. I loved this season, and love where we landed. I'm just as upset as anyone else that it was rushed but I know that was no one's fault other than Max's. I am aware of all the flaws in this season and how it could've been better, but I choose to enjoy it anyways and love it all the same

anastasiakrumpnik11

Absolutely hilarious and delightful and emotional all the way through. Taika’s acting WOW! The hijinks, the story lines, character arcs, depth of feeling…I adored it❤️🏴‍☠️

TruthyCeee

I loved the 2nd season. I really appreciate the interesting storytelling, I feel like the main arcs all tied together and ended beautifully. The overall themes and callbacks to earlier episodes were great. I love how you can really see Ed's growth throughout the season, they did a great job with that. Also really loved Izzys ending. I feel like if you really understand what his character is and what his journey was like, you get to appreciate how it all ended for him. Hope more people realise it after they finished grieving. The only thing I would have loved more of are lighter comedy scenes like in season 1. But regarding the drama and themes that were needed for the storyline to move forward, I understand their choices and we still got a ton of memorable comedic moments.

IdRatherBeAnimating

Omg I loved this season! It’s been an amazing series and I have no complaints. I’m just on this ship floating into the sunset seeing we’re it takes us next.

DreadWolfByTheEar

Me - I loved every minute of it. I think it’s brilliant on a storytelling and on a meta level. Everything was so obviously well thought out and every moment felt intentional.

FrostyFrenchToast

I didn’t even know we got a S2 for this show maaaaaaaan give me like 3 days I’ll probably love it to bits

catsinasmrvideos

I didn’t like that we only had 8 eps but considering what David and company did with it? I fucking LOVED it. I just hope that Max pulls its head out of its ass and renews for 12 episodes of season 3.

Buster-Scruggs7491

For me, every episode of this season was pure personal therapy. I saw so much of myself in both Stede and Ed. It will take me a while to rewatch it all because it hits me so deeply on so many personal notes. I don't know if the cast or crew reads what a bunch of Redditors have to say, but if by chance they do, you have helped along the mental healing process of at least one fan. My tricorner hat off to all of you and thank you for creating something....well....wonderfully funnily therapeutic.

harrietelderberry

Me! It was so good. So good. So so good!

That-SoCal-Guy

This is a great season and better than first in every way (and S1 is great already) which is a difficult thing to do with a sophomore season.

bookshopdemon

I loved the season AND the finale. My only regret is not seeing more of Jim's deadly weaponry skills but there's always next season. Oh, and another BIG regret -- Ed and Stede got the ending we in the GO fandom all wanted for Crowley and Aziraphale. So, yeah, jealous.

venturous1

Love love love. Wish it was longer. Wish there were more Ed/Stede kisses. But the character development for so many was fabulous, I love them all more than I did at the start.

ssfoxx27

I really enjoyed this season and I think I need to rewatch it immediately.

ZoeZerns

I did! Sure Episode 8 made me cry and felt a bit rushed, but I blame HBO for that one and not the show writers. Overall I thought it was awesome and I’ll be back to watch it all again for the third time this weekend.

uluviel

I loved season 2, and might actually prefer it to season 1 (maybe that'll change when the novelty wears off). My only issues were that it felt rushed, especially the finale. And that it was a bit too dark (in a lighting sense, not a story sense). I liked where the season ended with Stede and Ed together, I'm sad they are no longer at sea but I'm sure they'll head back there in an eventual season 3, like Anne & Mary did. I'm ok with Izzy's death, seemed like a natural conclusion to his arc. I hope Con can still be in season 3 in some way, as a ghost or in a flashback. Frenchie as the new captain surprised me. Was expecting it to be Zheng. But it will make for an interesting crew dynamic if her and Spanish Jackie stay on the Revenge?

friends_waffles_w0rk

Zheng not being captain surprised me too but maybe it was a reference to Auntie saying that Zheng needs a little softness in her life? So they can let Frenchie be in charge, for now anyway.

elfsmirk

I did too! There’s not enough love for Zheng on this sub, my girl is an amazing addition. And as an Izzy Hands enjoyer, I found his arc to be satisfying.

stumblingHome13

Not gonna lie, the first five episodes BLEW ME AWAY. I was so enamored and rolling in ecstasy over everything. The Stede/Ed moments were FANTASTIC, I loved every moment with Zheng, and Izzy’s redemption arc was a chefs kiss of greatness. That’s why I was so confused about the last three episodes. There’s no hate, they still told the story and I enjoyed watching it and the overall season. But the last three episodes compared to the first five just puzzles me. Obviously something happened because it’s like that writing and pace did a 180. Regardless I’ve greatly enjoyed this season and genuinely hope for a S3. But if not I’m happy to let my imagination and the rest of the fandom expand on >! Stede and Ed’s inn by the sea with Izzy’s ghost thumping around and haunting them. !< ❤️

Laeti_Stardust

Warning: heavy gushing ahead! I adored this season, finale included. Yes Izzy's death was heartbreaking, but that's the entire point of it. He had his redemption, made peace with everyone (and most importantly, with himself) and let go of the things that were destroying him. We, in turn, had grown to love him, giving his passing real impact. Just because it was sad doesn't make it a wrong choice. Not every ending needs to be happy to be good. I loved Ed and Stede's ending, too. They are finally in the same place and ready to be in this new relationship. Stede's venture into piracy and Ed's attempt to be a fisherman both came from the same thing: the need to find out who they are and where they belong. They each completed their self-discovery arch and found their sense of belonging in each other. It doesn't matter if they're innkeepers, fishermen, restaurant owners or whatever else. What matters is that they're together. And of course, the crew of the new Revenge will carry on stronger than ever, as a family. It was a bittersweet ending, but a beautiful one. The sad parts weren't cheap, the happy ones weren't convenient. All of it was earned, all of it made sense.

bellefleurdelacour98

I liked it a lot, I just wish there was more plot and more Ed/Stede interactions, but I get they had to work with what they had.

clear_sound

this has been a ride like no other. I'm in awe of the writers (and the costumers and props crew and everyone who made this.) Yes I wish they had so much more room to breathe but what they did with what they had is incredible. what an incredible emotional journey that it will take me a while to process. and as someone who read way too much fan fiction I love that the writers, pretty much, surprised me in sooooo many ways. (List of spoilers episode highlights here) "I did not see that coming."

[deleted]

It was fun! Just what I needed actually. It was great to just cozy up at night with a snack and just… feel good. Thats what OFMD is, with the finale still being that but with a learning moment of change and loss for me. Calypso’s Birthday was my favorite.

I absolutely loved it. I only just finished the finale because I was waiting to watch it with people. I'm still crying. I have so many emotions. I'm so sad over Izzy but his death was beautiful and his arc was incredible and such a gift to witness. My heart is so full over Ed and Stede. There were so many laugh out loud moments in the finale. I guess I can see where people are saying it was rushed, but I feel like DJ really pulled it off with the limited screen time. It was amazing. It was beautiful. It was hilarious, heartbreaking, it was SO MUCH of every emotion. I love love LOVED it.

I did! They accomplished a lot in a short time, managed multiple story and character arcs, balanced really dark shit with heart felt moments and funny bits and sexy bits. I loved it.
