Epilator? I’ve used one with good results.

Completely forget those existed smh. I think I have an old one but the pain scared me away from it. I’ll try it again. Maybe Nair for harder to reach areas and the epilator for legs. Thanks btw :)

overcomethestorm

No problem! Those only really work on people with high pain tolerance. They do recommend taking a pain killer a half hour before.

I wax at home. Not expensive. Very hard to do certain areas though.

Omg, I’ve gotten into waxing and enjoy doing it tbh but I’ve noticed my hair is growing back faster than before…. Has that happened to you?

Ok-Reflection-1429

Yeah. I think that can happen when it doesn’t actually grab all the hairs by the root, which is more common in a DIY situation

mysticalblacklilax

That makes sense, any recommendations on how to avoid this ?

[deleted]

I’ll try it again thanks for the suggestion

Yes this does actually help. I don’t find a lot of information online about black women doing laser hair removal. I’m also black and I’ve been scared it would burn my skin or not work. I’ve even seen videos of ppl saying it’s a scamming bc the hair doesn’t actually go away.

It depends on where you have the hair. I know it is hard not to feel insecure, but I would first focus on accepting and loving yourself. Maybe your back hair does not need to be removed in winter, and that saves you time, money and suffering. As for how to remove the hair, I would recommend at home wax. Not the pre-made bands, but the wax you heat at home. There is a roll on device and if you are in college, maybe a friend can help you with the areas that are harder to reach. However, you need to let the hair grow a bit before removing it again. You can also check for deals for an epi-lady/silk-epil or similar device. They come with a removing and a shaving option, and I think they are easier to use. Good luck!

Thank you. I’ve been trying for a long time to accept the body hair. I don’t hate myself for it as much as I used to. But as I get older the hair is definitely more all apparent, and growing everywhere. That’s what scares me the most. My stomach has been getting hairier and hairier and I’m worried that it will only get worse. I want to be able to accept it tho because one day I might have children maybe my own daughter and I don’t want her to see me hating my natural body and she inherited my traits.

Note blondes have a harder time with products.

I’m not blonde at all lol

I'm having good results with an at home IPL device, but I also have my PCOS symptoms well managed at the moment so not sure how effective it may be depending on where you are on your journey. Also worth noting they're not suitable for dealing with facial hair if you have any issues with that. I got mine a bit cheaper through a Black Friday deal, and its working out cheaper than buying various creams/wax every month. Although you do still need to shave with it so there's still outlay for razors/blades.

Do you have dark skin and dark hair? Bc I’ve heard those at home lasers only work with dark hair + pale skin. I’m worried about wasting my money or burning my skin
