You might be right but I don't eat animal products so I probably get different information on my media. Lol but I guess in general it's best to get blood tested. For me I was deficient in only in vitamin d.

Daily multivitamin, vitamin d, omega 3s, and sometimes magnesium. I had a positive experience with Inositol in the past, it helped regulate my periods. I don't need it anymore since my symptoms are more controlled. I used to take sooooo many supplements everyday, then cut down because I realized most of them weren't doing anything for me.

I used to take a lot of supplements when I found out about PCOS and what could help and what not. But the thing is, I wasn't sure, if it truly helped and it was expensive. So, I didn't take any for a few years. Just did intermittent fasting and sport then and there. I lost weight, and my symptoms improved. Only recently I started to take some supplements again. For example inositol. It is the most examined supplement for PCOS and has similar effects as Metformin. I took it before, but I think in the past I had the wrong dose, which is why it didn't work. Now, I know the right dose, and I really see a difference. Otherwise, I take magnesium. And I drink spearmint tea, which is not really a supplement, but you can take this as capsules too, and it helps with testosterone levels. For anything else, I plan to consult a doctor/endo prior, because I want to know how my current bloodwork is and if there are deficits that need to be treated. I don't want to try my luck.

I'm living in Germany. So, it's probably something you don't have, and it's pretty hard to find the recommend dosage here. And recommend is the 40:1 (myo- to d-chiro-inositol ratio or 2000 mg myo and 50 mg d-chiro). And a maximum of 4 g of inositol daily. Here in Germany, there aren't many products out here, that come close to the recommendation. The one I take at the moment is from effective nature and per 2 g it's 1800 mg myo-inositol and 200 mg d-chiro-inositol. Which is not exactly the right ratio, but it works. I take 4 g daily — first 2 g in the morning and the other in the evening. But it still works well. I forgot to mention, that it has folate added, too. I found another brand, that is much closer to the ratio. So, when I used up the one I take now, I will switch to the other and see how it works. The other is from the brand Inosivar and has 1950 mg myo-inositol and 50 g d-chiro-inositol per 2 g. But it doesn't have foliate in it. So, I will have to add that otherwise.

I’m looking to cut back on mine because I feel like it’s getting ridiculous. I just found out I’m extremely iron deficient so I had to add iron + vitamin c to the mix. In the order I take them: - levothyroxine (I have Hashimoto) - vitamin d - turmeric - iron - vitamin C - metformin - zinc - b12 - atorvastatin (for high cholesterol) - Spiro - magnesium glycinate - melatonin Any advice on what might be unnecessary would be appreciated! I’ll probably cut D because it’s the summer and I spend a lot of time in the sun.

Personally I would cut turmeric, and melatonin. Turmeric is overrated and melatonin is over used and may have long term negative consequences for sleep health. If you are outside a lot of live in a sunny region then D3 might not be necessary but when you do take it be sure to take it with K2 (mk7) as vitamin D alone increases arterial calcification and K2 prevents it.

I really suffer from insomnia without the melatonin. I mean, I have a Xanax rx I can use instead but I don’t like to rely on that.

Chiming in in case you or anyone else wants other sleep supplement suggestions without melatonin... I personally take magnesium glycinate, L-theanine, GABA, ashwaghanda and sometimes lemon balm, and they work like a charm!

I second the magnesium glycinate rec! My psychiatrist actually told me it would help with my anxiety at night and it really does help me sleep. Helps my migraines too

Dang, that’s a bummer. I wish I had better recommendations. Other than taking Benzos. Mg and CBD usually do the trick for me Have you tried hydroxyzine? It’s like a strong antihistamine. I had that recommended to me once for anxiety and it’s used a LOT for insomnia/nightmares

Yeah it doesn’t work for me. There’s a CBN + THC combo gummy that u really like but it also has melatonin lol. Maybe i could find CBN drops or something.

Turmeric will actually work against your iron absorption, so cut that one. I was taking both at the same time a few years ago and my iron levels were remaining stubbornly low. A naturopath I consulted with told me to stop the turmeric, and that did the trick to help me get my iron up (based on blood testing with my traditional primary care provider).

I have Hashimoto’s as well. Been on metformin for 3 or so months now. What dose are you on if you don’t mind me asking? My ac was always normal, but fasting insulin was 16. I had really bad crashes & hunger cues were all over the place. It’s really helped with that, but I’m still only on 500mg

Melatonin is not needed and instead drink tart cherry juice, with magnesium. Turmeric you could cut out as well. I read below you have insomnia, unfortunately the constant melatonin use will only make it worse.

i just take 2, one is a combo mythl b12 and methyl folate (i have MTHFR mutation) and a combo cal mag zinc. i worry about some of you taking so much, your liver and kidneys are getting rid of most of it unless you actually have deficiencies in those things.

I take a bunch but not really for PCOS entirely. I'm a huge fan of supplements when used properly and I have a way to get most of them for free. -A multi -Berberine -Vitamin D (most people are deficient in this honestly) -Magnesium (as above) -Chanca piedra (for gallbladder symptoms that were aggravated by my Mounjaro weight loss as well as a family history of gallstones) -L-theanine for anxiety -N-acetyl cysteine for stuff related to my Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency -Alpha lipoic acid -Choline -Milk thistle (since A1AD messes with your liver and lungs) -An omega-3 And 5 specifically for my Raynaud's, which was worsened by weight loss plus a move to an area where AC is always blasting. It's very obvious in my symptoms if I forget to take these: -Pycnogenol/pine bark -Hesperidin -Diosmin -Nattokinase -L-arginine And I have some that I will just take for specific issues. Like mullein when it took me a month to get over a cough etc.

At the moment I have just the daily multivitamin (hooray adult vita-gummies). However, I used to take a high dose of vitamin D (It was highly recommended by a specialist due to a problem I had plus, I had a near severe deficiency) and I am looking to go back to taking it on a lower dose, vitamins are just currently rather expensive where I am. Beyond that I would like to try inositol and maybe berberine, I'm also 50/50 on taking fish oil/something for omega 3. I consider the thyroxine pills I take as a medication given they're prescribed and, considering it is something I have to drink I don't think too much of protein shakes but I have a fair few protein products that I rotate around to increase my intake.

Possibly! Tbh it wasn’t till this thread that I considered I might be overdoing it. I’m booking an app with my naturopath to get everything tested again and adjust. Until then, I’m going to stop turmeric and cinnamon in my smoothies. The other ingredients seem to be liver supportive except for Metformin and inositol.

I just take a multivitamin, fish oil, and vitamin D. I tried magnesium glycinate for a few nights, but it made me feel sick and hungover the next day, so I stopped. I also look Ovasitol for more than a year, but I don’t think it actually benefited me, so I stopped. I also took a probiotic for awhile but they’re expensive, and I felt like I had enough pills to take, so I stopped that also. I eat yogurt most days of the week so hopefully I get what I need from that. I haven’t been deficient in anything in my bloodwork over the last few years. The only thing that has consistently been mildly low is sodium (like, 1 or 2 points below the normal range). I get bloodwork done in about six weeks, so we’ll see how things are then. Prescription meds - birth control (Slynd), metformin, and spironolactone.

I’ve been on birth control for most of the last 17 years. For me, it’s the best way to not get pregnant and to avoid the risk of endometrial cancer due to lack of regular menstruation. That’s helpful for me. You also have to consider that supplements and even other medication like Metformin are not going to permanently fix your PCOS. If you stop taking them (just like birth control), your symptoms are going to come back or worsen.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that takes so many supplements. morning: berberine, inositol, Turmeric+black pepper+ginger Lunch: omega 3 Before sleeping: magnesium +vitamin D When on my period: iron+ vitamin C When I'm under a lot of stress: ashwaganda 3-4/week Maca powder So, 10 in total, I guess could be more but I'm always concerned to create some kind of reaction between supplements so I try to keep it to the basic, and these are my basics 😅

I WAS taking inosital, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, magnesium glycinate, zinc , and a probiotic.. oh and the vital protein collagen peptides .I also drink spearmint tea and sometimes dandelion tea (gross) Now.. I’m pregnant (planned & no meds to assist) i only take prenatal vitamins and need to talk to my dr. about what is safe because I’m paranoid. For reference, my main PCOS symptoms i was treating were fatigue, hirsutism, and irregular periods (which regulated with inosital) . I have lean PCOS without IR, no issues with breakouts , and no issues with my thinning hair.

I heard it comes back and possibly worse . It can be waste of money for us since the hair growth is hormonal . I’m not spending thousands on a maybe. It’s a pain to deal with but mo one really knows the hair is there since i take care of it . I guess it’s just another step in my routine forever now.. I’m considering an at home laser device so i can keep up with it here but idk how well it will work or how worth it it will be .

I recently started taking myo-inositol (with my metformin), Berberine, ashwagandha, and am researching use of other supplements such as L-Carnitine and Green tea for PCOS. I keep seeing recommendations to take Magnesium, but I’ve tried taking Magnesium glycinate in the past to help with sleep, and it gave me the worst diarrhea. Like, praying to the porcelain gods for it to end, kind of diarrhea LOL. Any recommendations?

You need b12 everyday if you're on metformin. Metformin creates b12 deficiency
