I've found I can only charge my Dualsense using a charging brick from my iPhone 11 with a USB-C to USB-C cable, or the same cable plugged into my laptop while the laptop is powered on. It won't charge if the laptop is in Sleep or powered down, even though I can charge other devices when it's in those states. Also won't charge on an Anker PowerPort III Nano or MacBook AC adapters. Anybody know why it's so finnicky? What do you use to charge yours if you don't own a PS5?

[deleted]

it will charge, it just wont indicate that it's charging

You are most likely using the no longer supported jays2kings version of DS4Windows. Try using this one. [https://ryochan7.github.io/ds4windows-site/](https://ryochan7.github.io/ds4windows-site/)

Wow I feel like such an idiot. What you linked works, thank you!

Does your controller ever get to 100%? I'm asking because mine seems to only charge up to 62% and then sit there, even though it's still connected and technically charging. Edit: I just disconnected it from the USB and connected over Bluetooth, and now it says it's at 87%. I'm not sure if my controller is defective, if this is actually how the controller was supposed to report battery status, or if the DS5 integration on DS4Windows still needs some fine-tuning on the battery report.

kshaunish7

I have the same problem. Mine is stuck at 62%.

i recently sent mine in because it wouldnt hold a charge anymore after only 3 months. they sent me a brand new controller within a week and works fine. i suggest you make a case and send it in because the manufacturer warranty is pretty good and it lasts like a year or two.

Spl0it

when you say won't hold a charge, how many hours of gameplay are you talking about? thanks in advance for sharing your experience of both good and bad....

DippySwitch

I’m gonna piggy back on this because I’m having the same issue - I downloaded DS4Windows and I can see my PS5 controllers battery level if I exit the game I’m playing, then open the app, but that’s kind of self defeating - is there any way to see my battery level in-game, like an overlay?

I don't use reddit all that often so my bad if this response isn't helpful anymore but here it is. The way I monitor controller battery is to have the light change from green to red as the battery drops. You can also have the controller flash a specific color when it reaches a certain battery percentage. It isn't quite what you were asking for but it might work for you. You can change the lightbar settings by editing a profile in the Profile tab.

DippySwitch

Hey, not too late this was really helpful! I did just that. It looks like you can only set colors for full, empty, and then like you said flash at a certain percentage. Definitely better than nothing! I hope one day they update it so that it can actively change colors as the battery runs down - instead of always being blue when it’s on, have it start at green from 100-50%, orange from 50-10%, then red until 0%.

MicaelJM

I'm pretty sure it actually does gradually change colors between the full and the empty colors proportionally to the battery level. This is how I have mine setup: https://i.imgur.com/iN6wkmv.png

I was just screwing around with DS4 today, and there is a way to get a notification! Open up the profile editor and select a profile to edit. Then in the edit window, select the ***Special Actions*** tab and add a new action. Chose the button combo you want to activate the notification (you can even use the mute button on the controller). Select ***Check Battery Life*** and tick ***via notification.*** That will give you a Windows notification when you hit the button combo.

LooneyLunatic

What u/sicarius273 describe works great, but if you prefer to check it on the controller itself (say if you want to avoid having Windows notifications ruining the sound/visual experience), you can also use "Special actions" to bind the "Check battery" action to buttons combo and instead of ticking "Via notification", tick "Via Lightbar" Here I use "PS + L1" to check the battery on the controller's LEDs. The same profile works the same between DualShock 4 and Dual Sense controllers. [https://imgur.com/a/N3anadJ](https://imgur.com/a/N3anadJ) Hope this helps. ;-)

Really thank you, I also was using the old version. But I have a question, is normal that the program consumes 400-500MB of RAM all the time?

Different_Ad9336

Probably but that is just really inefficient coding.
