i missed the line about her being white when i read it so i feel like everyone here is lying to me about that. She's just Amanda Waller with an old injury that kept her from being a field agent
idk what to tell ya man. I missed the 10 words of her description about that and every other scene with her was about "i'm basically Amanda Waller with a limp"
Nah, fair enough. The Big 2 don't always have stories that appeal to me either.
I'll always make an exception for Amanda Waller, she's probably one of the best human (non-super-powered) characters they've ever written.
The cartoon had a pretty good back and forth on her specifically fucking with Batman. She *knows who he is* and not so subtly tells him to fuck off "rich boy".
Batman shows up while she's showering and hands her a towel. He intends it to be intimidating. She, naked and vulnerable, is just mad as fuck and in a later scene explains this is why she hates supes, because they think they're above the law (and she has a solid point).
Waller sees herself the same way as Cecil from "Invincible": the last human line of defense against uncontrollable super-powered threats. She's a deep moral gray and a stone cold killer with the authority to launch nuclear strikes.
6 minutes of their back and forth scenes, worth killing time on. Amanda Waller is *awesome*:

I feel like Keith David's voice is too deep. Always imagined Coil had a softer voice. Like Little Finger's in Game of Thrones - dude just *sounds* creepy. Keith David sounds too cool.
I forget who it was but when Wildbow was asked who he'd want to play various characters if Worm ever became a movie, Wifflebat chose a black actor for Coil.
Coil is in the fun position of never having been seen unmasked by anyone who described his skin color. The full extent of the in-universe physical description we got for him was [while Taylor was blind](https://parahumans.wordpress.com/2012/12/25/monarch-16-10/) and thus feeling things out with bugs, and she said:
>He waved one hand to brush away my bugs as they passed over him, but I managed to pick up the essential details. Close cropped, coarse hair, trimmed eyebrows, thin lips and a cleft chin.
Piggot was described as talking to him in her interlude, but she just called him "a tall man".
Anyway, Wildbow [confirmed on discord](https://worm.fandom.com/wiki/Worm_Wiki?file=WOG_Coil_is_Black.jpg) that he's black. I think it's pretty understandable to not have noticed just from reading the story. :D
Wildbow definitely broke a few stereotypes with coil. He’s just evil in a way that hollywood doesn’t do black villains. I can’t exactly explain it, but he just doesn’t have that vibe.
Well, the I don't consider the version of Waller we've seen in recent films to be more competent than Piggot. But the Waller from the Suicide Squad comic from the 90s, the one that made me always use Waller as my mental image for Piggot, even though I *knew* it was wrong? Yeah, that Waller is probably a more competent wrangler of capes than Piggot.
I mean, Piggot and Calvert are very much Amanda Waller and Henry Gyrich/Maxwell Lord pastiches. Like, Worm shows that WB had a pretty comprehensive knowledge of (mostly DC I think, though I think the Case 53/Mutants and Irregulars/X-Men-Morlocks parallel are pretty convincing) comic books up until the mid-to-late 2000s.
Everything that happens to the Triumvirate from Taylor meeting Alexandria until Eidolon's death is a major retelling/homage to *Death of Superman* through *Emerald Twilight*.
And Gold Morning is just literally a different perspective on *Crisis on Infinite Earths* up to and including how some characters' deaths are used.
My first time reading Worm I had trouble with that. Her being a hard-ass.
Amusingly, I also often imagined Coil as Lex Luthor. I had a hard time remembering what each of their actual skin tones were.
She definitely has a similar energy, yeah. Just white.
With a Karen haircut.
i missed the line about her being white when i read it so i feel like everyone here is lying to me about that. She's just Amanda Waller with an old injury that kept her from being a field agent
I mean, she has blue/grey eyes and blonde hair lol.
idk what to tell ya man. I missed the 10 words of her description about that and every other scene with her was about "i'm basically Amanda Waller with a limp"
Yeah, I'm not busting your balls over it. Sorry if I came across that way. I got the similarities too when I was reading Worm.
Don’t worry man, I somehow missed the fact Brian was black until Taylor explicitly said it.
oof, you really thought Taylor fell for a White guy with dreads? damn lol jk
He's got dreads?!
sorry, "cornrows" but check the fanart. there's plenty of it
I forgot Brian was black for several arcs and also thought Rachel was dirty blonde for, idk, 20 arcs?
Same, I read in a fanfic one time that she was white and thought the writer made a mistake.
I was doing it the entire time I read worm. I didn't even know waller's name at the time but I couldn't help it
Does anyone not?
Me, I don't follow other superhero stuff
Honestly I'd break the rule to watch Amanda Waller clips on YouTube. She's a stone cold killer with a briefcase and paperwork.
It's not a rule as much as it is complete and total lack of interest lol

But most live action versions of waller are young and hot.
Most? Source? Both Suicide Squad live actions had classic Waller.
There are four live action amanda wallers; Viola Davis, Angela Bassett, Pam Grier, Cynthia Addai-Robinson https://m.imdb.com/list/ls033762750/
100%
No, that's Doctor Mother.
I imagine doctor mother as someone thin and piggot as someone fat.
Yes. I also picture Coil as being white for some reason.
For Coil, I always imagine Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger). And when I learnt he was black, I thought it would fit Lance Reddick
I thought Colin Salmon would be good.
I always pictured Coil as Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring from Breaking Bad')
They’re not?
Thomas Calvert is black.
...I always imagined him looking like the riddler.
Same
Coil will always be played by Keith David, far as I'm concerned lol
I feel like Keith David's voice is too deep. Always imagined Coil had a softer voice. Like Little Finger's in Game of Thrones - dude just *sounds* creepy. Keith David sounds too cool.
Keith David is way too solidly built to be Coil. Coil's supposed to be so thin he borders on skeletal.
Wooooow, never knew that

The connection was so strong in my head that I just mentally pictured Piggot as being black by default.
I love Racism
Damit. Now I can't stop picturing Amanda replacing Tagg.
sounds like a great idea for a Fic lol Either him or Piggot herself
Amusingly enough, Amanda would probably be more competent and less psychotic than tagg. Still a psycho just less of one.
I feel like I see this post once a month
First time for me
So much so that I often forget that Piggot is white with blond hair...
Somewhere between her and Miss Trunchbull from Matilda.
YES!
Splash of bleach and there she is.
oh, 100%
Every god time she was on page. Despite knowing she's white and blonde.
Waller is *far* more competent. But yeah, similar vibes.

I did until I learned that she was white. I read Worm yet I missed that. I also missed that coil was black too.

Always a connection I’ve made
Oh, that fits perfectly.
Specifically the Assault on Arkham Waller
Yup
I've seen variations on this post several times so I'd guess multiple others yes
oh big time
Yes, but also if she were live action; Patricia belcher
Amanda Waller is like 500% percent more evil and a lot more competent, but other than that pretty much.
Idk why but I always picture her as that French cop from Madagascar movie
I imagine her as a big fat bleached blonde Karen who's skin looks greenish when she needs dialysis
