So the Manchurian Candidate spell

WraithMagus

Now here's something interesting: A spell on no casting lists. Or well, it wasn't correctly added to AoN, my .pdf of Occult Origins (p 13) and the [PFd20SRD version](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/i/implanted-projection/) puts it as SL 3 for mesmerist and psychic. Telempathic Projection in the first place is a +5 to social skills as an SL 1 on command. It can take advantage of psychic spellcasting having no glaringly obvious signs of casting (somatic and verbal components) if the caster is keeping at a distance and looking on at someone else being the face. (At least, provided you ignore or implement with common sense that one infamous FAQ that says there are CGI effects for magic regardless of how subtle they are supposed to be.) That's solidly large, applies to most social skills, and even Tears to Wine isn't covering any of those besides sense motive. Inversely, it comes with a will save because you're affecting the target to give someone else a +5 against them, rather than affecting an ally with a +5 directly, and that can be a lot more socially risky if you get caught throwing around mind-affecting spells on unsuspecting people. Implanted Projection, then, is an upgrade on Telempathic Projection is basically designed for a Manchurian Candidate setup, you give them a +5 to a social skill in advance. (It's unclear if you're supposed to declare *which* skill gets the bonus in advance, but it seems like you should?) You can then hypothetically do something like give the town guard or judge a +5 to sense motive when the thief tries to lie their way out of their crimes or something? (But then, you could also just [Zone of Truth](https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Zone%20of%20Truth) for Sense Motive or [Charm Person](https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Charm%20Person) or diplomacy or the like and get more than just a +5...) It's pretty flexible but also requires a *lot* of forethought... ... And that's why I really doubt anyone is taking this as a Spell Known. Maybe the original Telempathic Projection spell at SL 1 is worth taking once you're at higher levels as a spell known for flexibility in several social situations, provided you have ways to avoid getting caught, but Implant's higher cost to set things up days in advance just seems way too niche for spontaneous-only. (Also, when do you know the target saved?) I'd also rather use scrolls with a SL 1 on the spot outside of extremely contrived circumstances I'm not going to consider worth preparing for until I get to them. If I do need to plan a quarter of a ridiculously circuitous plan days in advance, I might as well get the scrolls then. It's also *just* a +5. I'll take a throwdown SL 1 +5 booster to a skill roll, but if I'm planning something days in advance elaborately, I'd rather have more guarantee this will actually work than a +25% if it isn't going up to 100%. A cleric casting Zone of Truth doesn't need it as a spell known, meanwhile, and barring a spell that specifically lets them lie or the will save, they outright always fail at lying to the judge, while a sufficiently high bluff score and/or low sense motive on the judge means they'll get bluffed anyway.

Even less useful than Telempathic Projection, a not very useful spell (casting a spell on someone will probably cause more problems than +5 diplomacy fixes)
